If people were honest in their posts here, that is not at all what I was saying.  But go ahead and keep reinforcing two items

1. Your collective lack of critical thinking (the point was Holocausts happen, they have through human history, the will again. It's tremendously unlikely to happen here, but Trump talks that talk and has walked the walk so far... try even the slightest bit of nuance other than disingenuine tactics

2. The whole approach on this sickens me in regard to what I just posted about not caring about others... there appears to be an utter lack of any sympathy, not to even try empathy, for the position of others by your camp. Good for you on that.

Maybe, but if you ask people to read 21+ pages of something, few will comply - not saying they shouldn't, but that is asking too much of an investment of one's time if you are trying to convince people of whatever position you have on any issue.

It's not Hillary's fault.  Part of her fault is her drive and ambition and blindness to what stands in the way.  It's liked faulting trump for being a narcissist... it's a terrible part of his makeup, but it's what he is at the core, can't "Blame" him.

But you CAN and SHOULD blame the DNC for this debacle.  The GOP gave their racist, radical, nationalist base the red meat they wanted.  The DNC gave their base that to a large degree was sick of all things Clinton, well, Clinton.  Shame on them perhaps above all in this mess.

Well, and the individuals that still don't admit what Trump is and has been for literally 5 decades.  But those are individual choices... the DNC as an institution utterly failed its constituency, showed no spine or leadership, and abdicated their responsibility.

What is the bolded supposed to mean? Has Trump been pushing the final solution at his rallies lately or something?

Try this: Google "Florida newspaper apologizes" and just see if ANY members of the MSM are carrying this story.

Mexico Daily has a story....but NOT a WORD from the MSM.

Uhhhh....this is an editorial by a small local newspaper (population of Leesburg is less than 16,000). Major news outlets rarely pickup stories from small papers, let alone picking up (or even reporting on) an editorial.

My desire for less gov't, especially in terms of intruding into our private lives?

My pro-gun rights stance, so long as there is a demonstration that your right to own a gun won't risk the lives of others (simple ways to provide that level of accountability)

A desire to rip apart the tax code... perhaps not oversimplified as a flat tax, but much more in that direction and geared to provide a fair means by which we collectively invest in our nation (meaning, not feeding ineficient gov't programs and hand outs that go to key interests)

Or the fact that I didn't vote Dem last time and have been in strong alignment with the Libertarian party the last two elections.

Maybe it's the fact that my first political contribution was to R. Paul - Senior.  Before I realized he was also an utter cook, but even so.

I await your response.

This comes from a non-American board that I frequent - its a pretty astute observation from an outsider:

This election has been a disaster for American democracy. It's not just the candidates that are bad but the fact that the political issues which should be at the centre of the election are hardly being discussed and all the coverage is focusing on the character of the candidates and the polling results.

For democracy to work it needs an informed electorate and that is impossible when all we see are lies, misinformation and spin. With the possible exception of the Brexit referendum I can't remember an election when facts have taken such a back seat. Nobody is talking about the issues, instead preferring to appeal to the voters emotions and prejudices. Being caught lying doesn't seem to count against either candidate. People can't even be bothered to check the facts but simply believe what they want to believe and accept bald assertions of what the candidates claim they will do without even asking the obvious question "How will you achieve that?". In an age where information is available to all ignorance is a choice.

Trump is right about one thing - the system is rigged. Otherwise how can you explain how a nation of 320M people finds itself with a choice between Kang or Kodos? In any rational system both candidates should have fallen at the first hurdle as neither are competent, honest or decent human beings. Joseph de Maistre said "Every country gets the government it deserves" and sadly the USA has shown it deserves Clinton or Trump. Thomas Jefferson must be turning in his grave.

You're right.  Dodds should have copied some of the really salient material and included it in his post.  That would have made for an easy synopsis for people who don't have time to read a longer document.

He has been instigating additional violence against individuals.  He has fostered and formented the racist and anti-semitic at times chants at his rallies He has encouraged and never discouraged calling out the Press as the dirty Jews they are (the "Jew-S-A" guy is just one example)

He's talked about not allowing entire ethnicities in our nation.  He's not spoken against, and often used terminology and tactics taken, literally, from Nazi and KKK groups. He's talked about rounding up millions upon millions of people for immediate deportation.

See, the world is not white and black. it's all kind of grey.  Trump doesn't have to be pulling up the trains to the chamber to be stepping in territory that is still well beyond the pale. At least for people who have any respect for others.  To me, even one step in that direction is one too many.  And we've seen multiple steps in terms of rhetoric, planned policy and action (or inaction in the face of disgusting antics that Trump not only does not denounce, but encourages).

Does that at all make sense? It's hardly some way out there theory, it's not suggesting Trump is Hitler... but it also points out clear and repeated examples of similarities in terms of their approach, how they fire up the base, and their behavior.  That's not alarming in and of itself?

RIF - he is saying the BREXIT referendum was devoid of facts and issues - (and focused mostly on fear mongering)  In other words, he suggested this election was similar to Brexit in that regard...

Funny, when Comey announced his 'no indictment' decision 2 weeks before the DNCC it was considered a political boon, the last obstacle Hillary had to overcome before her crowning and what looked like a surefire walk into the end zone in the general election.
