Hillary Clinton's 3AM phone call turned out to be a concession. #ElectionNight
She could have spoken to her supporters, especially those that were with her at her campaign headquarters for most of the day.  Even to the American public she should have spoken. To me that's very telling of the character of a person. Instead of facing defeat she ran and hid and didn't give two seconds to everyone that supported her.

Did that bother you diehards? Or no big deal?

I still think the email scandal was a nothing burger and blown out of proportion by people beating the drum every day about it since it first surfaced in the news. Yes, Hillary shouldn't have done it, but I view it as negligence at worst but it was spun into sinister criminal behavior - I still view it as all smoke and no fire (as with all the criminal accusations against Hillary).
You realize all you have to do is put 'gross' in front of negligence and what you stated is a felony according to the law?

In regards to the Ron Johnson thing, Trump will come into office with Republican majorities in House and Senate. The GOP can do everything they want. We'll see how it works out.
The problem last time around was that they did generally un-Republican things like spend more money and expand the government.  I sincerely hope that's not the case this time around.

This is like saying putting out the lifeboats into the water sunk the Titanic.

Let's talk about the iceberg: Hillary herself.
Yeah the FBI saying they are investigating you a week before the election is just a minor occurrence in election history.  Like spelling potato incorrectly.

Yeah, her fault.  Except they didn't find anything.   :wall:

And in many ways that was the beginning of Trump...these people were "campaign conservatives" and the pushback against them started the tide against the establishment...

As we plunge into whatever war and economic catastrophe awaits us,

I hope that everyone really enjoyed reading those banal ####### emails.
Can we stop pretending the emails were just grocery lists? They weren't. The latest show the Clinton Foundation helped pay for Chelsea's wedding. Rember the Trump portrait? That was a big deal right because he used his charity to pay for personal stuff? Then so is this. And  this is just one big deal out of those emails.

It should never have been close enough in the first place for that to matter. She was a terrible candidate. I hope we never get another Clinton or another Bush running for office the rest of my life.

Is there anything else Hillary may have said, done or been to have caused this?

Can't think of anything?

Very little?  She won the popular vote.  Trump won on razor thin margins.
Question: What is the fascination and focus on the popular vote?  Don't you need more ELECTORAL votes in order to win?  And isn't a win a win no matter how you won (razor thin or landslide)?

I agree.  But it was that close and it may have likely mattered.

Hillary Clinton may be a child molester.  Wait one week.  Sorry we were wrong.

Great way of handling things the week before the election.

At the end of the day the GOP and Trump are going to serve the donors. And that will set them up. Bit only if the Democrats have someone to offer who isn't tainted and who refuses to play the money game. That's the lesson that shoild be taken from this. Will it be? Hard to say.

You can't think of one mistake Hillary made the whole campaign? Not one misstep, one error, one flaw, which would have helped lead to this?

If that happens they will go down in flames...as they should...

So it turns out that nominating a candidate who is under FBI investigation really is kind of a risky thing to do after all.

But hey, what's the worst that can happen?

The emails were the symptom. The actual problem was that people don't like Hillary Clinton, bottom line. Emails were just one of the ways to express that dislike. She acts like she's above people, and Americans ultimately rejected that attitude.

Of course she made mistakes.  Tons.  She still may have won if the FBI didn't step in and scare the electorate for no good reason.

A good reason would be looking at the emails and actually finding something.  Crazy, I know.

Except in your analogy, she was accused of being a murdered a few years ago, then questioned on it 18 months ago...during which time it was reveled that she might also be a child molester.  Then her husband had some secretive meetings with the FBI...only to have the FBI clear her of murder but state that what she did was molestation but she didn't know any better.

And then there was an announcement a few weeks before the election that new evidence may have become available in her molestation charges.

Paints a slightly different story, eh?

Ok I'm just saying blaming others and wallowing in self pity is dysfunctional. Talk about what the mistakes were, acknowledge them and then there is a path forward.

If I understand it correctly, not reporting that new evidence had come to light could've meant jail time for Comey (there is a legal precedence for this).

Also, imagine if the flip side was true?  FBI finds potentially new evidence but decides not to investigate until after the election.  What kind of picture does that paint?

Another big reason the Democrats lost is over-confidence.  I've never seen a cockier group of people.  There are a bunch of people in this thread and forum that honestly thought there was no way on earth Trump would win.  I have no doubt that this made a big impact on voter turnout, where people saw the long lines at the voter stands and decided they didn't need to vote because Hilary would win anyway.

Just saw some hand wringing on msnbc, kelly odonnell seriously wondering if, despite them knowing that its a good policy, middle america DOESN'T care about transgendered bathrooms in high school.  Completely unaware, unironic and oblivious.

The Dems got so far out on platforms and fringes they might have collapsed under their own weight.  You drive through small towns now, every one I see, in just a month, has the blue line pained for police support.  Dems let the GOP make that THEIR issue and thats just the sort of thing that people in the areas that made a difference for Trump care about.  Some sense of normalcy and order.

Exactly and they threw common sense out the window as well. They completely ignored the pulse of the country.

Or look at the evidence first.  They were able to by this past Sunday.  They could have looked at the evidence.  If they find something make it known to congress.  If they don't find anything?   Keep your ####### mouth shut.  This is not difficult.
