***Official "I VOTED" thread (1 Viewer)

Voted this am. About a 45 min wait. I’m only voting once. More younger voters than usual. Was in India for two weeks so missed early voting, but also missed all the political ads. Taj Mahal was amazing! Some interesting tv stations in india with screaming debates for/against the government. Visited a Sikh temple in Delhi that serves a minimum of 8,000 people for free, 7x24 for over 500 years, all by donations and volunteers. Interesting that they treat all religions/people as equal.
Sikh and you shall find.

Maybe some election you can travel with the sun and vote in every time zone.  Start your day in Puerto Rico and end it in Hawaii or Guam
I gave this a like. I give you lots of likes. Remember that when you read my response to your complaint in the STD thread. Or whatever those ranked choice voting initials are.

P and S I haven't actually written that response yet.

Wife and I waited for about 35 minutes to vote, which is quite a bit longer than in the spring, and roughly on par with the last presidential election. It's funny - every time we vote, we know/recognize the volunteers, registrars, etc., but we never seem to know many of the people waiting to vote. Voting brings out a unique crowd I guess. (town of ~2,500)

The wife didn't appreciate my multiple voting/voter fraud/Kleefisch jokes while we stood in line either. :kicksrock:

Go on ahead and disagree with me, that's fine.  Many smart people do.

Voted straight D in MA

Was specifically excited to vote for a couple candidates I had voted for in the primaries, though some like Ayanna Pressley (House) are unopposed once they won the primary. Still a good feeling.

Good crowd, no line as the volunteers kept it moving with a bunch of tables and lots of space. My polling place is right across the street from our apartment in Boston so that's always convenient. Didn't vote until just now at 11 so I'm sure the morning crowds for early risers led to lines earlier.

Voted by mail a couple weeks ago.  If you don’t have that option, write your Secretary of State and demand mail-in voting like a civilized state so you can fill out your ballot at your leisure.  There is really no excuse for having to stand in line to vote.

Ok, going to show my ignorance here but when I voted it asked if I wanted a Democratic or Republican or I think Independent ballot.  What's the difference?  I get it if it's a closed primary but what's the purpose today?

Voted straight D for the first time in my life.  I'll probably have to do it again in 2020.  Makes me feel icky.  Damn you Donald Trump.

That's voter suppression.    They only have a handful of "Democratic Ballots" in Cherokee County, once they run out, they will turn away anyone who wants one...

Seriously though -

Never heard of this in a general election before. Off the top of my head I can think of two possibilities:

1. The poll worker was confused.

2. Do some states allow parties to put their own officials on the general election ballot?

So the Secretary of State can see who you voted for.

First time in my life I've ever voted straight down the ticket for one party. Hurray, I'm a partisan hack now!

As usual, I voted Libertarian wherever that was an option.  This time around I voted for all Democrats where there was no L on the ballot.  Admittedly, these are races I don't care about -- it doesn't matter to me who our public utilities commissioner is -- but I don't think I've ever voted for a Democrat before, at least not that I can recall.

The problem with this home is that it seems nice when you walk up to it but then you realize it has serious foundational issues.  And a leaky roof.  And the appliances are all shot.
When you move to a commune, you make certain sacrifices....

Early voted last week with my wife

Got my son to vote before he left for Argentina for a month.

Got my other son to vote at college and he's been working as a volunteer to get other students registered and voting

That’s just because the previous tenants always bust it up. We’ll fix it up.

Voted via early ballot last week.

I also made my first ever political/voting post on facebook late last night due to a very important local position.

Same here.  Except my county is so red that many of the local positions don't have a Democrat candidate.  This is why I'll continue to register Republican so that I can vote in the primaries.

It was on the piece of paper I filled out.  I'm thinking I had the opportunity to leave it blank but not certain.

Neither the person who checked my ID/information nor the person who gave me my ballot referenced it at all so I was shuked as to what it was for.

I voted.  It was the most people I've ever seen at my polling station.  Legalizing weed will do that.

Early voted last week.

Talked to a friend at work whose daughter voted for the first time.  The poll worker announced to the room she was a first time voter, and she got a standing ovation.  Kind of cool.

I've never voted for an R in my life and I wasn't starting today - at least my right wing zealot neighbors will think that there is a socialist among them. Hopefully it scares them to death.

Just voted in our local synagogue. I live in a neighborhood that is very similar to the one in Pittsburgh, with lots of friendly orthodox Jewish people intermingled in a relatively diverse community (for a suburb). Couldn't help but think of that when I was there.

To add to the anecdotal turnout gossip, the friendly old lady instructing me how to fill out a bubble on a piece of paper (who I'm near certain was the same woman as in 2016) mentioned that she'd "never seen anything like this" when someone remarked on how many people were there.

Voted this morning around 7:30 and there were probably 75 people in line.  I usually go after work but I don't think I've ever seen a line like that for midterms.  1 vote for flipping VA District 10!

I've been voting Libertarian for the past few elections where possible and they had some reasonable candidates and got 2-8% of the vote.  This time around I didn't even discover the L candidate was on the ballot for Senate until walking into the polls.   I voted for him anyway but am expecting a less than 1% given the lack of publicity.

As for House seat, the useless republican incumbent (VA-6), who has been constantly re-elected since around the break of the Ice Age finally retired.  Thank goodness (term limits people).  I don't care who wins.  I think I voted D because I always did when voting against the bozo incumbent.   But mostly for the Republican gerrymandering that puts me in VA-6 even though I logically should be in VA-5.

I wasn't going to but the guy from that show and the girl who sang that song from a few years ago said I should so I did!
