I am going to go out on a limb and say that the majority of people who post here would rather you not post here. And I don't think those feelings extend to the other Duke fans that post in this thread.

And this isn't middle school, i don't care that most people here hate Duke, or me. This is a forum for people to post their opinions. This thread is about basketball. So I'll continue to post here. Perhaps you should ask yourself, why do i care, why do i get so upset that someone posts on a internet forum, especially when that person's posts aren't about me or my family, just basketball. Get a grip.

Can we keep this focused on hoops please? What has Ripleys done, in this thread, that is such an issue? Be proud of his team? Correctly let us know that Irving will commit to Duke weeks before it happened? So many of you are proud to have him on ignore status, if he bothers you so much, just ignore him.

Well, tonight is the night. Whether he picks Duke or not (and at this point, i think he does and pray that he does) its good to see the first PG domino fall. It seems like all these kids (Knight, Irving, Selby, McCallum, Joseph) were all just waiting for the first person to pick. I think that all of them (with the exception of Knight) will end their recruitments in the next few weeks.

It also would help if people would not quote his posts in their posts. It defeats the purpose of having him on ignore.But it is shaping up to be a nice few days for Duke with Irving's all-but-done announcement and Barnes' visiting. (And while this is a knitting thread, Duke football is favored in a game against a D-1 opponent this weekend. When's the last time that happened? If Cutcliffe gets them to a bowl, what are the odds he's at Duke next year? I think of Spurrier at Duke and Mack Brown at UNC - demonstrate success and go to a football school.)Now, back to knitting and a question from someone who doesn't follow recruiting to the level of others: I've heard Barnes said he would announce after all of his visits but then switched the UCLA visit to the final one instead of Duke. Does that have an effect on an announcement for Duke this weekend or shortly after?

they claim the change in visit schedule was due to a scheduling conflict with his mom. At this point, i'm not reading into it all that much. He isnt going to UCLA. I do think he'll take the visit though. If Barnes is still up in the air (as he claims to be) he'll make both visits and then decide right after. I think he's coming to Duke and think Irving's visit this weekend (again, if it happens) will seal the deal. Honestly, i wouldnt be surprised if Hairston and/or Thorton swing by for a visit as well. And i think Cutcliffe hangs around at Duke for a little while longer.

I was spending a little bit of time at an Iowa State board, and the fans there are still under the impression that they are very much still in the running for Barnes, and think that they rank second just behind Duke. I don't know if this is simply homer fan optimism or if there is something to it, but it would be very cool to see him head to Ames.

I would find that hard to believe. At one point about a month ago UNC was considered the leader even among many Duke fans. That's changed a bit now as I understand it, but I still think UNC and Duke are the clear leaders.Barnes has said that he plans to decide around November 12. Nothing has changed there. It is kind of funny that Duke fans have been bragging for months about having the last in-home and the last official visit with Barnes and now they will have neither. And there are some people who have theorized that Barnes rescheduled the UCLA visit to give him a convenient excuse to defer when Duke lays a guilt trip on him this weekend. But ultimately I think the official visit scheduling is meaningless. Kid seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is doing the right thing by keeping the process as close to the vest as possible.

I had a major issue with this as a UK fan. First, we had almost no shot at Irving, and even if coming to MM wowed him enough to pick UK, we would be taking him at the likely expense of the #1 PG in the nation. It never made sense to me at all, and Selby canceling as a result just made it worse. I think UK gets Knight or Selby with a very small chance they get both.Honestly, now that i think about it all this waiting and worrying about Irving is totally worth it if his presence at UKs midnight madness in any way encourages Josh Selby to look elsewhere.Of course, they're probably getting Knight anyway

What Cut has done at Duke is nothing short of a miracle. This program was beyond horrible for so many years, and he's got them playing competitive ball every week. He has said he's unpacked his bags and will be at Duke long term. I sure hope so. He is recruiting better than anyone since Spurrier, and as well all know, it starts and ends with recruiting. Barnes still won't commit until after all his visits are over. But Duke has never been out of first place. Lots of speculation about UNC passing them, but it was just that, speculation. Barnes absolutely loves K. That's the main reason he's coming to Duke. And he and Irving talk all the time, and call each other brothers. They will help Duke go from a 30 win team to a 36+ win team IMO.NMYMND said:

I think Kentucky will get Knight, and as I've said before here, that's as impressive a PG duo as I've ever seen. Wall and Knight will both make MILLIONS in the NBA, both likely all stars for years to come.

other than Lebron James, i have never been more impressed with a HS player than i was with John Wall (of course, i'm not old enough to have seen Jabaar. My dad sort of played against him. Said it was an unreal experience). Wall just explodes past people. It looks like he's playing against 5 year olds. Ferocious dunks with either hand and jaw dropping court vision. IMO, he's a jump shot away from being on track to be the best PG in the NBA.

Agreed on Texas, but I think UNC-CH is still ahead of Duke with 15/2 odds as opposed to Duke's 10/1, unless I misread.

I think this year is wide open. I am not as impressed as most about KU, especially if they let ther off court issues affect them. I like UK and hope that they are able to live up to the hype as the #2 team, but they will rely a lot on freshman and I would put them at less than 50/50 to make the F4 as of now. After that, it could be anyone, but again, I am not wowed by any team right now.

honestly, i find it hard not to be impressed with KU. They have All Americans at the 1 and 5, both of whom played a big part in winning a title. They've got 2 other NBA level back court players (Henry and Taylor) Add in the Morris Twins, Robinson, Elijah Johnson, Withey, Morningstar in the 2nd semester. That's a loaded squad.

Thanks. Maybe you didn't think so, but plenty of less-knowledgable online Kentucky fans certainly thought they had a real shot after he attended their MM event.

Yep. Nothing wrong and no shame being the 2nd best PG in the nation behind Knight. But I do believe Irving will be a more valuable college PG, just because I think he's got a good chance to play 2 or 3 years, where Knight, like Wall, is 1 and done. Both will be lottery picks for sure.

Harrison Barnes is on the Duke campus for his OV this weekend. Duke students have gotten very creative. Per NCAA rules (which I think are stupid) they can't have signs that say his name, but they have worked around that. For example, a few of the benches in the quad area have been painted "One of many benches we'll burn. H 40" (for those not in the know, its been a long time tradition to burn the benches after a NCAA title. H= Harrison, 40 is the number he'll be wearing at Duke. They also have a few big signs that say "NCAA C_AMPS" Harrison will attend the football game (first time Duke has been favored for an ACC opponent in a LOOONG time) and he'll be at the open practice and scrimmage over the weekend. Again, no one expects Harrison to make his official announcement until all his visits are over, around November 12th.

Barnes visit is going VERY well. Like last time he visited Duke on K's birthday, Harrison broke out the Duke shirt, and more importantly, it stayed on him and was not found outside under a shrub.
