In Cory Joseph's case, I think he should follow his brother and play together with him in a show of brotherly solidarity. In Releford's case, I think he should branch out and do his own thing.Trevor Releford's older brother, Travis, is a bench SG/SF for Kansas that would be a starter on about half of the teams in the Big XII this season. I've seen the Relefords play high school ball, and Trevor is a more complete player than this brother at the same age. Travis will be able to score some points in the Big XII, but he's pretty much a shooter/penetrator. Trevor is a good enough passer to keep the ball moving in a motion offense, and could play limited PG minutes in the right system.Gophers sign Nebraska Player of the Year Elliott Eliason, a 6-11 center who is rated at 3 stars by Rivals and Scout, and Scout's #27 center for the class of 2010.
Yeah, yeah, it's not super duper impressive, but adding a 7-footer who is a smart kid (Stanford was after him) and a good passer can't hurt. Plus, with Sampson and Iverson being just sophomores, he'll have two years to learn behind them before he has to worry about being an impact player. The Gophers still have two scholarships remaining for 2010 with guard Austin Hollins visiting this week and guard Frank Williams scheduled to come in soon as well.
If this ends up being the class, a trio of 3-star players, it will be a bit underwhelming after the last two Tubby has brought in, but still solid. They are still in the mix for Cory Joseph (Rivals #7), Trey Zeigler (#26), Trevor Releford (#98), and possibly Vander Blue (#22). Obviously I'm hoping for Joseph, but any of the four would help the backcourt which seems to be where Tubby is focusing now, as he should be.
GO-PHERS-GO!KU said "thanks, but no thanks" to Trevor a little too early in the process. They got an early commit from an SG (Royce Woolridge) that has plateaued as a player and is now falling down the rankings as guys like Trevor Releford improve.I'd love to see the Barn rockin' again like it did during the days of Willie Burton and Melvin Newbern. If Cory Joseph and Trevor Releford are the two that make that happen, more power to Tubby and the "U".
ETA: Trevor Releford committed to Alabama late last night. Official announcement coming soon.

Kemba's a big impediment to scoring a 5-star PG this year, unless there's some sort of guarantee that he goes pro after this year, which is never a guarantee for a 6' PG.

Just asking for the lay of the land, really. Thanks for the explanation.
