That I know.  What to do with it, the commands to enter and such are just all new to me. 

Also, I think part of my issue of what you posted above that I ran into is that my nvme drive isn't made by Samsung.  It's from "my digital ssd" (found on amazon).  I can't seem to find a driver for their product.

Question:

Answer: Works as boot disk on ASRock Z170 Extreme 7+. I would think it would work on your MB but you may need to install OS to it by cloning OS from a another (HDD) drive. My experience: I am running windows 7 and could not install windows directly to the SSD. MyDigitalSSD does not come with its own NVMe drivers so need to rely on windows NVMe drivers which, unfortunately, are not on the Win7 installation media. So when installer got to the point where you select the drive/partition upon which to install windows, it does not see the SSD. There are two Microsoft hotfixes that need to be installed before win7 will see the drive. I tried modifying the Win7 installer ISO to include those drivers but never got it to work. So, I installed win7 to a standard hard drive and then installed the hotfixes. I then used the MiniTool Partition Wizard to clone the HDD to the SSD; the process was simple. Disconnect the HDD before trying to boot on the SSD

Thanks!  That's pretty much the exact same issue I'm having (just using a different motherboard). 

That's likely what I'll end up doing.  All these other steps seem so crazy.  Just install like normal to a hdd or standard ssd and get the hotfixes and updates all set up, then clone (which I've never done but sounds easy enough).  Will try when I get some time.

Yeah that's probably the route id go. In the end you probably wouldn't even notice a difference going with the other method

In the end I'll have windows 7 set up on the fastest type of hard drive you can have.  Really I'm just doing this to free up an extra hard drive slot in my home theater pc case (there are only 2).  Using the nvme drive (about half the size of a ram stick, and connected directly to the motherboard like a ram stick) will allow both of those drive slots to be used for media drives.  I know, serious overkill for a home theater PC

Out of curiosity why is it that you like One Channel better? I have both One Channel and SALTS installed but never use them because I'm always able to find what I want on Exodus and it always works. So, again based on my experience with Exodus, switching to anything else would be a lateral move.

Opposite of you.  I have connection issues with Exodus and never any with One Channel.

SALTS is like Exodus with the HIV turning for the worst, I don't like it. Feels clunky and the links always buffer from their sources, even with the beta SALTS refreshed ones (I have a 200Mbps connection) and much less HD sources. I'll give 1Channel a run too, but with the Exodus update and developer team commitment to keep it up to date probably sticking with that. 

 
My wife is pissed because all of my shows that she has no interest in (AHS, GoT, etc) have no problems on Exodus, but as soon as she loads up some #### show like Real Housewives or the Vandersluts or whatever it's nonstop buffering. :lmao:

Anyone have any Superbowl trip reports?  Were there live streams and were they reliable?  I'm wondering how the Oscars will be and it seems to be a good benchmark.

Think so. I know if I go into settings-appearance- there are "skins" to pick from, is that the build?

 Default works fine, just looking for something with less clicks/more visuals for wife/kids.

I'm on another message board and the discussion was about using Kodi and people worried about getting busted by the feds. I suggested using a VPN and individual pretty much, in a sarcastic and high almighty way, inferred that a VPN wouldn't do jack. Here is a copy and paste from his response:

If you are paying a legit company to use their VPN, I guarantee the agreement you have to sign to use their services makes sure you acknowledge that illegal activity with be reported.

I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to debate back and forth with this guy. Is he correct? I was under the impression from this thread that a VPN would protect you from things like this. I was also under the impression that the Feds would go after the people putting the content out there to stream. Any answers would be appreciated.

I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as Tony on these things, but I never really thought that a VPN would help either, if the right folks were looking.  The VPN would help show, for instance, the NFL website that you're "not in the US" for their game streaming packages and such.  And probably makes you harder to find for the majority of folks....but I don't think it would be much of a hindrance if "the right folks" were looking.

 
So when did this become illegal? From what I've heard streaming is legal. It's the ones who download it and share it that are breaking the law

Watching protected content that you don't pay for is illegal, no matter how you obtain it.

A few of things:

1) There isn't any case law at all, not one single person, that has been prosecuted for watching a stream of copyrighted material.  (I'd challenge that person, or anyone to show me different.) Until the first case is even heard I have a hard time saying that it is even illegal.  Until a case is brought to court to test the copyright laws there just isn't any precedent for it.  It would be extremely difficult to make a case for copyright infringement if you never take possession of anything.  What physical evidence is there that proves you have a copy of something without paying for it?  All that and it happens all the time.  For example you can listen to any song you choose just by typing the song title into Youtube.  

2) Because of #1 I don't even use a VPN most of the time for Kodi.  As long as you don't use Kodi to download something (which Kodi is capable of) you never take possession of it.  There is no doubt that the website servers that stream content are in possession of copyrighted material, and they are the target of law enforcement, but once it's broadcast across the internet there isn't anything keeping anyone from seeing or hearing it.

3) What a VPN does.  Two things: i) it uses a remote private network in a remote location that makes it appear that your information moving across the web is coming from that location.  ii) it scrambles that data at each end such that anyone looking at it won't be able to tell what the information is.  If you are using bit torrent, downloading and taking possession of a copy of say a movie your are committing copyright infringement.  People have been prosecuted for this and there is case law that has been established making it illegal.  Not only is it recommended but pretty much required now days that you use a VPN to mask your location (IP address, where and who you are) but it also scrambles that data so normal people wont be able to tell you are downloading a movie.

4) The FBI.  The NSA for sure and most likely the FBI, CIA etc. have the technology to decrypt VPN encoding.  The reason it is recommend that you still use a VPN for torrenting is because the FBI isn't looking for you.  You are much too small a fish, think the Youtube example above.  The people who get in trouble for torrenting are reported and sometimes prosecuted by the MPAA and RIAA.  The MPAA and RIAA are normal people and do not have that technology.  All they do is sit on bit torrent streams and write down people's IP addresses that are leeching the seed.  Occasionally, in the past, they tried to prosecute some unfortunate people.  However, until just last Tuesday they had made agreements with internet service providers (whom they would have to subpoena to release IP information for each case) that they would report the IP numbers to them and then the internet service providers would send them threatening letters, up to 6 times before the internet service providers would throttle the internet speed and/or threaten to discontinue their service.  Note: Going to court and being charged became a thing of the past.  That agreement expired on Tuesday February 7th, 2017.  It's still remains to be seen what the MPAA and RIAA are going to do, but, most people believe the individual down loaders are going to be left alone while they continue to focus on the websites.  Possibly another agreement with the internet service providers.

So you guys are cool right up until you have evidence of someone getting prosecuted?   And then you'll just quit outright because YOU HAD NO ####### IDEA that what you were doing could possibly be illegal.  Got it.

I like your speeding example.  You sound like a guy that never goes over the speed limit, good for you, seriously.  But, you make another good point:  Your example points out that a lot of people are willing to break the law for their benefit (in fact the majority "everyone" in your example) if a) the law is rarely enforced and b) when it is enforced the punishment is relatively minor.  

Whether you believe streaming is legal or not there has been a) zero enforcement and b) the punishment is zero.   So it doesn't really make much sense to try and make a point about it does it?  Your time is would be better served in a no-speeding thread where at least there is some consequence and debate.

What would I be doing in a Kodi thread if I wasn't a user?  I'm just one that is honest with myself.

You have made statements that may be true...so far...that you know of.  I don't need to lie to myself when I'm watching GoT.

Kodi itself is calling it piracy, which should be as clear of a statement as you require, regardless of how many (or few) have been successfully prosecuted.

2) Doesn't say anything regarding watching content being illegal
