Official ** KODI ** streaming thread (tips, help, add ons, etc) (1 Viewer)

had it humming on Monday (Yankees home opener, and switched about) - had very few issues, outside of a not too frequent buffer.  was getting clear streams on my Mobdro, as well

running Jarvis 16.1 on a Droid box, no VPN.
Which channels on mobdro do you usually check for MLB   Just espn?

Curious as to what you've watched with Pro Sports and your success. I ask because I installed last night with the intent of watching baseball but couldn't find any viable links. The NBA however seemed pretty good.

For anyone else out there...if you've found an add on that works with high success for MLB I'd be interested.
Ill check smoothstrrams tonight. I'd imagine they'll have everything available.

well, i successfully installed no limits magic lite onto my firestick.  it seems to be working pretty well and good lord there's a lot of content.  and i didn't get the pr0n version.  i understand about 5% of it  lolz.  i think my next step will be to install a VPN.

for those that have installed the VPN, did you add it to your computer, phone, iPad etc.?  many them offer up to 5 devices.  just curious.

Have on 2 phones and 2 PCs

install Indigo>go to their 'Sports addons' cog >add Pro Sports

Thank you for these replies.  I still had some stuff to learn to even understand what they meant.  But, after about 30 minutes last night, I was watching the NHL playoffs.

Here is what I learned to get from 0-60 (or at least 25).  Maybe this will help someone else who is coming into this really green like I was.  I followed this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGnVuo4qcEA .  Only issue was that kodi has changed how its website looks, so I had to hunt around a little bit to do some of the same things.

First, you need change the settings on the fire stick so that it will allow you to access the internet without going through Amazon.

Second, you need to dl an app that, as far as I can tell, functions as a browser but isn't silk.

Third, in this browser app, you navigate to the kodi site and download the android version.  But kodi doesn't really "have anything."  It is essentially a media center.  You need to fill it up with stuff, which for me was streams of live sports.

So, fourth, inside of the kodi app, you dl a "wizard" that will populate kodi with stuff. It also changes the appearance of kodi a little.  I used the fusion.tv one, which isn't called fusion, it's called indigo.  But you get it from the fusion site.  I have no idea why.  It's also called an "add-on," and I don't know why that is either.

Then you restart kodi - it now looks like it has indigo skin, although it's called tvaddons.ag for some reason.  Under videos>addons there are a couple of sports ones.  Inside those are lists of streams to watch.

There's plenty I still don't get, but I was able to get to where I wanted to - live NHL playoffs last night.

Addons are like apps for your phone or Windows 8+.  Builds are skins that install a bunch of the apps (and widgets if you will) for you.  I haven't used tvaddons for quite a while, but, it used to be kind of a hybrid of the two:  It changes the skin and give you an addon that is their addon installer that allows you to add whichever of the addons you choose from their fusion repo.

Repos are repositories, zip file locations that house the source files.  The source files can be addons, builds, whatever.

Installers are program addons (kodi classifies addons into video, music and program types) that usually link to different builds that you can choose from to install. Tvaddons' addon installer is a program addon too.

for those who need the Baseball fix, try MLBStreams on reddit - some hoops to jump through, but it looks to be a decent option

again, my 'droid box running Jarvis (sans VPN) is doing just fine with Pro Sports ... but the above mentioned may offer some relief for those experiencing the agita  ??

Some of it is starting to make sense, but I swear, trying to read this thread before diving in was like reading a list of random words.  And I have a sneaking suspicion that people are not always careful about being precise with their words when talking about this stuff.

I have it on my iPhone, Macbook Pro, and Amazon FireTV (kodi).

Yep, besides the latest round of game consoles that I haven't gotten around to yet, I've hacked most electronic devices I've ever had.  The problem with the internet isn't enough information, it's too much.

I installed the PIA app on my Neo U1 (i.e. android media play that has Kodi), phone and tablet. The other option would be to have installed on the modem but the app is so simple to just fire up and use.

:blackdot:  for later.  I am going to try this.

:blackdot:  to read through later.

have been running a Beast build on fire stick for a while now. haven't upgraded to 17.1 yet, but it still seems to be working fine, and I don't really even use it that often. but eventually I need to upgrade and DL a new build.

anyone else running the Beast? seems like a pretty good build, but it's very UK centric (lots of soccer stuff, which I don't give a crap about). thinking of changing to the Wookie lite build once I upgrade. anyone running that on a stick?

So what is the good build lately? Mine is starting to not play movies well on Exodus and for some reason we can't get any MLB games. Have no problem with NHL, NBA, or NFL when it was in season. Thanks in advance

I think everyone is having MLB issues lately

I finally got exodus to work!  Yay!

But how do you get back into the movie if you decide to leave for a bit?  I'm 30 minutes into Logan, I'm sure I'll just fast forward but is there a way to save your spot?

No idea WTF "speed your scrape" means.  Could be a sex act.

those of u trying that update for OpenElec (which I have not watched yet), OpenElec seems to be dead. The devs who created OpenElec joined another group and now they develop LibreElec, which isn't technically a direct update to OpenElec but looks and behaves almost the same. I did a reinstall on an old Pi1 device with this new LibreElec and it seems to be faster even on the old device.

Another thing i didn't realize since I don't pay much attention, not updating to Kodi 17.1 will keep u from seeing all HD sources. Apparently the hosts for HD sources all switched to a https protocol and older versions of Kodi cannot handle https streams. there was a notice on my old Kodi build from the addon forum guys. i think u only get that notice if u're using their installer, so in case anyone was not aware.

after the rebuilt to LibreElec and upgrade to 17.1, i swear the streams are faster and much more stable. it could just be my imagination.

Ok, when watching a movie and pausing it for a few minutes (like I did last night to feed my dogs), when I restart it, it will only play for about 30 seconds and then stop altogether and bring me back to the page of all the scraped sources - and most of them no longer work.  So I have to start the search all over again, but it will allow me to restart the movie where it ended previously.  Any way to prevent that?

Some addons will remember and give you the option to start where you previously left off.  Otherwise FF.  If you're going to leave and come back remember to jot down the time.

Clear cache.  I've been clearing cache directly in the Amazon software under manage applications, seems to work a lot better and gets everything.  Just be really careful not to hit clear data by accident.

Does anyone know if the next generation of Firesticks will be able to be programmed to get Kodi . I would like to purchase one and set it up for my daughter.

I haven't heard anything about them not being compatible.

ETA: I'd be hesitant to ever set up a Kodi stick for someone.  It's something that a person has to want to dig in to IMO.  As easy as it is to follow a Youtube video to get updated over time, there are enough potholes that I think someone has to take ownership of this.

Anyone else install Kodi on a phone/tablet and use Chromecast to send it to a TV AND also use a firestick? Which one is easier to use?

Thinking of setting up Kodi for my 71 year old father to finish GOT since he finally cancelled HBO. I currently have Kodi installed on a spare Nexus 5 and paired with a Chromecast it's been pretty easy to use. Is the firestick better? I'll probably have to manage it for him.

Hope someone here can help. I'm a computer guy but this stuff is beyond me :)

I have a Smart TV, it has UpNp capabiity

I have KODI on a PC (16.1 - can't upgrade to 17 yet as this old box has WIn7)

I want to cast the movies/shows I select to watch on the PC to my Smart TV.

I've used Youtube videos to configure the few things in Kodi that I think I need.

If I set me TV to the Satelite input and use the select source key on my PC (Y, in Kodi) I can see my TV appear in the list. If I select it, I don't see anything special on the TV.

If I set my TV to the input called "AnyCast" (it's a Hisense TV), that screen gives me my device name and says "waiting for external device to connect". This is the one I think it should be on, however, when I have my TV like this, inside Kodi I do not see my TV in the list to stream to.

Just want to know what I'm doing wrong?

Of note, this TV has a "Files" section and when I go there I can see my media on my home computer and I do see my Kodi machine in the list. I can browse it but I don't have any media on that machine, but does this not indicate the 2 are able to see each other?

Any help is appreciated.

TIA

Watching Get Out.  Kodi rules.
Yep... Kodi on Amazon Fire units is the type of disruptive tech that changes the game...  It's the Napster of the broadcast universe. Once things hit critical mass it's going to be really interesting.

I'm guessing by this fall, growth will be exponentially larger than it is right now. Everyone I've told about it or made a box for is cord-cutting, and they're telling their freinds. Half have learned how to do it through emails from me and are now doing a box here and there for a friend.

If you look on local buy/sell/trade groups on facebook, half the listings are Kodi-enabled devices. People are figuring out that for $50 and some know how, or $75 and zero know how... you don't really need Cable anymore.

I'm a quality sitckler for live TV& sports, and subscribe to a private IPTV service for ~11/month for 0 downtime and reliable HD/HQ live sports.

That's all I pay now, exclusive of my monthly ISP charge. It's amazing.
