***OFFICIAL*** Last Comic Standing thread (1 Viewer)

Am I the only one watching this thing? Anyway, it was nice to see Josh Blue win the best comic of the night. I thought he killed and showed good improvisation when Kathy Griffin asked why he chose comedy.
He was definitely funny. I hope that he can show something other than just jokes about his handicap though. While very funny, he needs to have more than just that.I thought that their other picks were pretty bad though. The first guy that got picked was funny but the other 3 weren't that funny at all. April Macie was terrible. She made annoying faces and just wasn't funny. I think she only made it because she's practically a Kathy Griffin clone. Roz wasn't that funny either IMO. The whole prostitute thing was clever but just didn't do it for me. And Joey Gay was ok. His stuff was fairly funny and I'm most ok with him out of the 3.

I thought the biker/jail time guy was funnier than those middle 3 and I thought that the black guy married to the white woman was funnier too.

Unfortunately "funniest comic" isn't the only thing considered.

They also look to make the house interesting / diverse, etc.

There was some big hubub about it a couple years back when a fav didn't make it.

Also, I miss Jay Mohr.

I understand where you are coming from but comics tend to work from their personal experiences and I'm betting he has had to deal with alot with his disorder, so he should have a ton of material. It's a refreshing change from the usual my wife, my kids, my job, black/white, or terrorist shtick.

Also, I miss Jay Mohr.
I loathe Jay Mohr, but he was 100 times better than the stiff they've got now.
:goodposting: - "Yes Dear" you are not funny! The whole thing is a big fix - see earlier posts on the Drew Carrey/Bret Butler comments on how the celeb judges mean nothing and they simply pick the comedians that would best make up the house - that is why they should eliminate the house and just do a weekly vote ala Idol. No way Roz and the nasty red head would have made it then!

:goodposting: redhead lady is NOT the "Last Comic Standing" but her personality vs. Joey Gay is what they are counting on for good T.V.

Not sure who the first guy that started last night was but he was very funny: "Why do they always listen to the :stalker: voice instead of the "buy her rose's voice"

Biker dude was  . Should have gone in place of Red Head girl.

Roz has some funny material, but between her and Gay the rest of the house guests are going to need ear plugs.

Hint.. no need to shout.. YOU HAVE A MICROPHONE!!!!!! ;)

I thought roz was notable, I assumed she would be picked not because of her personality or largeness but I thought because she was funny.

Joey Gay and the redhead should not have gone, not sure why they did - maybe they thought the redhead was the hottest out of the bunch = ratings, the blonde might have been hotter but her material was too blue.

I thought the biker dude was marginal, one guy I liked had the black hair with the expressionless face and delivered the one liners, but for the life of me cannot remember any of his material and I deleted my tivo recording.

I think the older one-liner guy is going to be on next week. Half of them went this week and half go next week. 5 from each half go to the house. Not only was the blonde's material blue, I didn't think that it was that funny to begin with. Not really sure that rape jokes are very funny.

:goodposting: Didn't matter what she said after that. Starting her "act" of with that line was a very bad idea. Not sure anyone heard the rest of her act as we were trying to get over that first line.

At least it was funny - better than that red heads horrible "I used to be fat" jokes!

I thought April was funny, and I liked the dark humour of the blonde chick. I do not like fat ugly people yelling marginally funny things.

Josh was definitely the best.

My favorites this season are the guy who did the girls are responsible for high gas prices / hate the french bits, the guy with the huge head who looks like Hank Hill and perhaps my overall favorite, the girl with the lisp. I could watch her all day and just laugh. I thought her Wagon joke was sophisticated in its design and showed she has a real understanding of the character she's forging. I have a great deal of respect for that.
With decent material and the sympathy factor, I wouldn't be surprised if she won the audience favorite award next week.

My wife deleted last week's from Tivo before I watched it all, but I have to say in the bit I saw, the doofus from MTV had a good line -- "If women aren't supposed to cook, why do they come with milk and eggs already inside them?"

Wow.. WTF?

Iglesias and Bill Dwyer already have careers. The NY skank wasn't funny and isn't attractive so I don't know what they are thinking.

Way to give some of the young kids a chance.

glad they didn't pick benson, dude is funny but a total ringer. As Load Letter said Iglesias and Dwyer are ringers as well, but it looks like they are keeping the ringer traditon in the finalist house.

Eh. The producers were obviously looking for something in the people they chose. Wasn't there controversy in a previous episode regarding the choices? I thought Drew Carey was a judge and it came that he was all pissed off because the judges choices weren't really taken into consideration.

Thank god they didn't take Lispy, that would have been unbearable.

There were probably about 10 comics last week that were funnier than every comic this week. And they took two extra from this lame group? Boooooo!

Stella and the old chick are NOT funny
Let me take this a step further. I told my fiance as we were watching that, again, the judges had a tough decision, because there wasn't one obvious dud in the group except for Stella. Of course she'd be gone, I said, since her material was tired and predictable and her delivery was beyond amatuer. (Rushed and rehearsed, like horrible acting.) I guess they wanted a pregnant lady in the house?! I watched the show over again. Here's what I thought...

Iglesias... Deserving.

The other guy (Bill Dwier?) with the orange sweater and sports jacket, not his best material, but clearly has the look and polish of a top comedian... Deserving.

4'9" girl... Very average. All fart joke and exaggerated movement and little substance. No sophistication. Annoying and not funny... Bad choice.

Stella... Worst out of both nights, of those who made it or didn't.

Mr. Burns woman... All act. Polished, some decent material, but positively wreaks of contrived. No personality... You relate to great comedians and she'll probably never connect at that level. On the bubble.

Older woman... Rewatching... Two of the three jokes she told were well delivered, but poor. How can you be high and on alert and live with bunch of people in a studio and they're in her head. Just not funny. Pity entry into the house. Certainly didn't kill. Audience was mute.

Black guy. Started okay with the Katrina stuff. Solid. Then the social security bit went Wayans with the pimp reference and the finish with the it's called social security, not social sorry #####. Too easy, not sophisticated... Bubble.

So who absolutely should not be in?

Stella

Old woman

4'9"

Who got wronged?

The guy with the material about the luggage with his address on it, I'll be in Florida for two weeks... Solid material, excellent delivery. Definitely robbed.

The black guy with the dreds and red shirt with the bits about gas prices and how it affects everyday life... Very solid material. Drive bys are too expensive -- I'll just sent him an e-mail. Was funnier than the black guy who made it IMO.

The short guy with the solid bit about people weaseling the free samples at the supermarket. Clever observation, well acted. I chuckled, because I recognized the behavior in myself. You go out of your way to seem more interested than you are just so you can get the chicken in the cup. Better than Stella, Old Woman, 4'9" and probably Mr. Burns lady.

The lisp woman, last name Payne. She cracks me up. Just has a natural energy and humor and would have been interesting to see. Definitely a comic whose act was sure to please and evolve. Sad that we get limited comics like Stella, Old Woman or 4'9".

There were other people on the bubble, but the above were the ones I really felt were more deserving than who made it.

Honorable mention...

Ex-teacher talking about faking his way through year one. Better than the four worst who made it.

Guy with the hickey joke. That made me laugh, though rest was eh.

Guy with big head. I love that guy, but his material tonight was so so.

Guitar guy. Pretty good, smiled, didn't laugh.

Everyone else... Don't remember them enough to care. I think the four above all deserved consideration over Stella, Old Woman and 4'9".

I remember being entertained by the Brendon Walsh guy, but can't remember a single joke, which says it all.

I think the judges -- if they really do the picking -- did an admirable job last week. This week. I give them a D.

They forsook the comedy this week, clearly.

My list, assuming seven, would have been...

Igelsias -- was selected

Dwier -- was selected

Luggage joke guy -- was not selected

Lisp girl -- was not selected

Black guy in red shirt -- was not selected

Short guy -- was not selected

Black guy with Katrina bit -- was selected

On the bubble...

Mr. Burns Woman -- was selected

Ex-teacher -- was not selected

Definitely not...

4'9 -- was selected

Old woman -- was selected

You're got to be kidding me NOOO!

Stella -- was selected
For the first time ever in my life...I agree 100% with Mr. Ham.

No love for "This kid just said 'bomb'."?

That was the best joke of the night.

Picking Stella was the worst joke of the night.

ETA: No fan favorite tonight? I thought there was supposed to be one that gets an automatic pass to the house. The fix is in.

The guy was gold and would have had a ton of material to work with. Beign a teacher for 9 years he had plenty to work with.Jobbed

Fan favorite was the ?Mexican? dude. Big guy, first to go on last night.Very, VERY funny.

Cop "Do you know why I pulled you over"

Pulls out donuts... "You could smell these" :lmao: :lmao:

12 people and half of them are women -- it's so blatant the show's producers are much more concerned with drama and conflict in the house than with actual comedy.

The just killed this show. Comedy fans, its presumed audience, are going to stop watching and they're not going to attract any new viewers (i.e., women and/or reality TV fans) by injecting more "drama" in the house.

:goodposting: I agree with all of you guys. The folks they voted in last night were not even close to my favorites of the night. I kept telling my wife as they announced the 5 that I didn't like them that much. Maybe the donut guy, but still I think I would have picked 5 of the people that they didn't pick.

It was so obvious that they cared more about the house dynamics and making it a Big Brother drama and to be honest, I don't know how much more I will even watch.

I thought Segway guy was overlooked also.

I'm going to stop watching now, they picked some of the worst ones last night.

Stella was the worst, same with the old lady.

Not sure if this was mentioned in the thread, but does anyone else think the guy with (not sure if it is CP or MS) looks like Screech.

All of the "reality tv" stuff of the first LCS was terrible. I'm glad that I have Tivo now and can just fast forward to the standup portions of each show if I so choose. I think a much better format would be to go to a playoff bracket system instead of these stupid "games" that determines what comics compete against each other each week. They could all still live in the house, but instead of competing in lame games, they could show how they work on material and what they do to get ready for shows. That would be much more interesting for me.

Iglesias won Fan Favorite. I hate that stupid giggle of his.

Which guy is the one that said: "You know, they say, 'You are what you eat.' I don't think that's true, because I don't remember eating a 27-year old loser who lives with his dad!"

Didn't watch last night. Did this guy make it? Anyone remember?

I think he was clearly the best of the night, IMO. He shined.
He may be funny.. but something about him rubs me the wrong way. And not just the ringer mentality. Even when I see him on Premium Blend it's like "Oh god, not this guy again".

Why have the house at all? Isn't everyone watching for the stand-up?

After watching the first two weeks I was trying to remember why I didn't love this show but its all coming back to me now. These people are desparately trying to get some exposure and the whole "I'm an annoying jerk" bit just wasn't entertaining to me.

As someone said above if they did this American Idol style and just ran the comics up each week and let people vote it would be a far better program.
