Could you please articulate your point a little more clearly?  I don't allow my kids to watch television that is inappropriate for them.  I realize that prime time has a number of shows that are inappropriate for kids.  I avoid watching those shows when they are around.  I either Tivo the show to watch later if I really want to see it, or I just don't watch the show.  After all, my interest in watching the show is trumped by my interest in making sure that my kids aren't watching inappropriate material.

Can you please explain how any of this is objectionable to you?  If you're going to throw out insults, perhaps you'd like to back it up.

P.S.  The only thing I questioned was your assertion that prime time should be limited to family friendly programming.  That's an absurd proposition.
:whoosh: Please show my assertion that prime time be limited to family friendly shows. I mentioned THIS show. This show is the topic at hand correct??
You stated that this show shouldn't be on in prime time because it isn't family friendly. The obvious conclusion of such an assertion is that shows that aren't family friendly shouldn't be featured during prime time. If that wasn't your assertion, you had plenty of opportunities to clarify your point, but chose instead to start throwing around insults.By the way, you still have completely failed to explain why, based on my statements in this thread, you feel sorry for my kids or think me immature, unintelligent or a bad parent.

You're just going to #### with me so go ahead get it out of your system. Have your fun.

You questioned me awhile back too. I think you just like to #### with me. But hey whatever floats your boat.
I don't mean any offense, but I have no idea who you are and have no recollection of anything you have posted in the past.

I'm a parent, too, and I'll be very selective of what my child watches when he's that age. I certainly don't expect that the material others should be unavailable to them because I'm not involved enough or smart enough to take personal responsibility.

I have also stated that the previous years shows have been great without all the raunch. If you can't see why a parent would be upset with this, that's your problem. If this was the first year for the show, I would more be understanding, I'd still be a bit hacked, but it would be more understandable.
By the way, I understand your annoyance here if you believe that the content of the material has changed from past seasons without due notice to viewers. That said, I would think that is what the ratings system is for. I'm not sure, but I'd imagine that last night's show was rated M (or whatever the next step down is) to put viewers on notice that there is some objectionable material not suited for younger audiences. But that's still not a basis for your assertion that the show shouldn't be aired at all during prime time.

To throw some gas on the primtime argument...

I like my comedy a little blue -- not vulgar, but right about where it is on this show. I would find it really sad if my ability to see these comics practice their art were mitigated by Mr. Pack's insistence that the show appeal to his 14-year-old daughter. I am sure that there are many venues for humor that is appropriate, but it's really not up to you or her to decide what the rest of us get to watch or how the producers wish to gear the show.

There's always someone with a different barometer of what's funny and what's vulgar. I think they draw the line in a reasonable place and whereas I feel for the fact that you can't share this season with your daughter like you did the last (though at 14 is a vibrator joke or a bleeped out word really going to damage her -- your decision, clearly,) the reality is that there are many different ways to avoid the show or record it for later.

I understand completely where you're coming from. I think the show is good. The comedy this season has been funny. Maybe it's because I have a daughter, and I don't feel she needs to be exposed to this crap. You're right, we turn the channel. The networks shouldn't cater to kids, I agree with that too.

This show for the first 2 seasons has been great at keeping the blue and raunchy stuff out, and it was funny as hell. To do a 180 now just sucks. if this was the first year, i could understand it. Seriously. When Desperate Housewives hit the TV I was fine with it. She is not allowed to watch it, and it's never on. I don't have a problem with that show. This one though, I do.

That's life, I know that. But for parents with kids to not understand my rant, well I don't understand that.

So far so good. Doesn't sound like an argument for keeping the show off the air during prime time.

Roz = not funny
:goodposting: her constant yelling made me tone her out.
Heh.. I was looking for this thread to post the exact same thing. I tuned her completely out so I didn't hear a single joke.Looks like a 2 horse race between Josh and Chris, unless America screws it up.
I hope America doesn't screw it up. Chris and Josh are the two clear cut best this year.Time for chris

Hopefully good enough. The black dude was underwhelming again (I still can't even remember his name, he's that underwhelming).Josh has already made me crack up with the magician line.

Ending the show with the old lady? Ehhhh......?

josh is so :moneybag: - no way he doesn't win this. He is funny and gets the sympathy vote too.

I thought Ty was better than Chris tonight- but Chris is hands down the best writer in the group and the best improver and will end up going head to head vs Josh in the finals.

Roz. Bleh. I can only hear "Beetch" yelled so many times.

Old lady had a good couple of weeks and was almost growing on me, but was awful tonight. Buh-bye.

I actually thought Ty was the best last night.

Chris was off, and Josh just didn't seem to be able to gather his thoughts.

They are still the favorites imo, I just thought Ty did a good job last night.

Oh and BTW, Anthony Clark sucks.
He has the charisma of a doorknob
With his makeup, he looked like a Harelquin and his hands were trembling.
A-FREAKING-MEN!!!Caught Jay Mohr's show at the Irvine Improv last night and he really made me miss him on LCS, even though the host doesn't do much (thankfully so, since Clark is driving the short bus this season).

The way I'm judging is by extrapolating the tone of their sets over an hour HBO Special. In other words, could I be engaged by them for that amount of time?

Here's how they ranked for me last night. This being said, Chris and Josh are my favorite guys.

1) Ty -- solid material. Like his calm, dry delivery. I could watch him for an hour and not get annoyed.

2) Chris -- seemed nervous last night and some of his thoughts needed to be distilled just a bit, but he's a brilliant comic with a great take.

3) Josh -- the "spotter" thing didn't really work, so going out on it was weak. But I just love the guy. I was glad to see him branching off the disability a bit into the alligator bit. He needs to get more experience with different kinds of material, but I admire and love everything about that guy. Was still funny and had enough :lmao: moments to make up for some mediocre material.

4) Michele -- she's grown on me. I like her. She's too one-dimensional for an hour long set. Too confined to the same kind of New York-based humor. She had some funny stuff, but three quarters was average and she could never engage me for an hour.

5) Roz -- first of all, she made me think of her naked, twice, with a big sweaty, poopy ###. That was a mistake. NOTHING funny about that. I'll give her some credit... One or two of her jokes made me laugh. But could I ever, in one million years, imagine watching an hour long set of her yelling her delivery? No way. Plus, the majority of her material was lame and tired. There wasn't much that was insiteful nor clever nor observational. She relies too much on the same trick and isn't a skilled enough writer or performer to branch off. She's got to go, though Michele probably will. Why? Because Roz is more memorable. (The fat black lady who yelled as opposed to the older lady who was average.)
Spot on, IMO.... :goodposting:

I have seem Chris live and I wish he would have kept going. He is soooo funnny. And he has the ability to transition between all of his jokes very well. He also is very spontanious.

I hope Limp Dogg Bizkits is wrong in his post.Porter was by far the best one last night.. No competition.BTW.. Did Ty really get away with saying:

Will Wak fur fud
on Network T.V. :o  :lmao: Time to get down to the final 3 of Ty, Porter and Josh. Josh is still very funny to me. But Porter is just that much better. :moneybag:

I think Ty was the best again last night.

1) Ty Barnett

2) Chris Porter

3) Josh Blue

4) Michele Balan

Porter was clearly the best. Josh Blue second best.

There was nothing special about Ty's material or delivery. It was ok.

Balan used her best stuff a long time ago.

For the first time Mr. Pack might have had an argument for the show being too racy. I mean not too racy for me, but I remember a few bleeps which is rare for network TV.

ya balans gotta go

i would be ok with any of the other 3 winning although my top 3 are in this order

Josh

Porter

Ty

Ty pulled out his :toilet: mouth material. S--- and a f---. Too go along with his:

Will wak fur fud
that they let slip through. :lmao:

Well, you're certainly more of an expert than I am, but Porter just seemed forced to me (he even seemed to lose his place a couple of times). He was easily the best earlier on in the season, and I certainly want him to be the best, but for the last two weeks, Ty has been really funny (to me) and appears really comfortable on stage.

You realize the misspelled word is "work" not "wack". Even though it sounded like "wack" I think the censors were right not to bleep it.

Ham nailed it re: Porter. I think he's pressing. His material is still far and away the most sophisticated and original. His delivery is still good, but not what we've come to expect.Josh, in my opinion, does a great job of drawing us into his world and doing humor that involves his disability, but we NEVER feel sorry for him. That's a skill. Every disabled comic I've ever seen before him that involved their disability in their act, I felt more pity than humor. There isn't anything unusually creative about his observational humor, but it is a brand new and unique perspective. Because he is so likeable, he will walk away with this title.

I agree with you that Ty has thus far been the most comfortable on stage. I just don't find anything he does that creative or even original. All of his humor comes from things/topics that a dozen comics have already addressed. Half of his stuff last night was derivative of a Chapelle show episode (The Fear Factor bit). Premise: Get poor meth-addicted person on Fear Factor and the show becomes ridiculously easy. Different execution, same joke. The same can be said for a lot of his material.

I agree with all of this. Also they are putting too much makeup on Porter.
