Wow, now that I have money, the auction house has some great stuff for sale. It will be interesting to see how the economy plays out as levels go up.

Sitting at about 600 silver with seed to do another 45 fields - just need to buy the rest of the supplies. That will take me down to a little more than 300. :fishing:

As they say, you have to have money to make money.

After this run, my baseline silver should be around 450. I am now working while my little elf gets his Farmer Brown on.

Vacation is fun but I miss LOTRO

I wonder how long they will allow mailing stuff between characters on the same account??

It works great to have two or three characters with complementing professions.

I can make yew wood with my woodsman and then send it to my weaponsmith to make some pretty cool stuff.

I bet that will change, WOW does not allow you to send mail between your own "toons"
This is False. It absolutely does... try it some time, it works.
 I just assumed that it wasn't allowed because of this post in the WOW thread

I might not be on later tonight, but sometime this weekend could someone help me with some cross faction trading? I got 4 toons (2 horde / 2 alliance) all set to do it and then realized I cannot bid on my own auctions wallbash.gif

If you want to help I need you to be able to get to G-town in Tanaris where the neutral AH is. I have my warlock there so I could summon you pretty easily assuming I can find 2 other alliance characters to help.

Alternatively I might buy a 60 day account and use that in the meantime with my 30 day and be able to trade goods back and forth while the 30 day is still active. It's gonna be fun though getting a lvl 1 alliance (on the new account) all the way to tanaris. I tried ghost running an rezzing at the spirit healer but it sent me back to the noob zone bag.gif

Ahh I can see how that might confuse... if you have Horde and Alliance characters you can't mail between those. Horde and Alliance have no interaction with each other whatsoever other than in a PvP type situation. But if all your characters are the same faction you can mail between them freely.[/WoWhijack]

I broke down and created my first character... Nerple, a level 2 Hobbit Burgler. Didn't get much chance to play and I'm out of town on business until Friday, then I leave town again for a wedding this weekend, so I probably won't get to play again until Sunday night or Monday. But add me to your friends lists and if you see me on I could use a free bag of weed!

seriously, this stuff sounds so insanely dorky, but im strangely intruiged. Im a huge fan of the movies, but i dont think i could deal with doing stuff like farming. Id never have the patience to do all the grinding that leads up to cool weapons and badd ### monster slaying.

There actually isn't much grinding if you don't want it. You don't HAVE to do any of the farming. There is a main quest and you can stick to it. You'll still need to do some quests on the side to level up to handle the main story line quests, but the game isn't really about the little stuff, but the best equipment is still on drops, meaning you get the BEST equipment from actually fighting monsters.

:kicksrock: There is no need to farm if you join a guild and want to just get out there and fight :P You will get plenty of drops and what you don't get from drops and/or quest you can get from others in the guild.I'm doing farming because I want to make food for the guild. To do so cost mucho :bye: so farming to build up my money so I can cook food. Food provides "buffs" for characters out of combat to allow quicker recovery so you can put the beat down on baddies faster.

:kicksrock:

So close last night.. Only hit 920 Silver..

Was hoping to hit the 1 Gold mark+

Guess I'll take care of that tonight.

My base is about 400 now, but I just spent 200s at the auction house or it would have been 600s. I'm going to be farming today during the day so maybe I can hit 1g

:yucky: I have to ask, What is the average wait time of your patients???I can see it now, Mad Cow tells his receptionist to stall the next patient because, "Pipeweed doesn't farm itself!"

Practically nothing. You have an appointment, we start the exam as soon as papers are ready and good to go. However, with the pipeweed, it can take 20-30 minutes or more of autopilot, so I set it going and leave. Come back and pipeweed city, baby!

OK, here is the breakdown of the run that I am now processing.

Did 43 fields, so cost of goods, so to speak, was 254 sp, 56 copper. That is 43 water, 86 fert and 129 soil.

Out of that, I got 209 fair plants and 77 poor, for a total of 286 plants. That is an average of 6.65 total plants per field, which is not bad. There was a HUGE slant towards fair this run, which is out of the ordinary. I would have expected around 200/86, which would have allowed me to famr the same number of fields next time. As it is, I will be farming less now (only 38 fields next run) due to the fewer poor seed plants I can do. :scared:

Anyway, from 209 fair plants, I get 836 seed, selling at 61 copper each for a gross of 509 silver, 96 copper and a net of 255 silver, 40 copper. That is a nice end result there for only maybe 20 minutes of me actually doing something.

And the beauty of the farming? I am posting here while little Tarethyn is working his fingers to the bone making pipeweed so all can smoke whenever, wherever they want.

What is the point of the crazy farming going on?

Horde gold pre-release and get the profession skills maxed? (I am assuming they are not capped like levels).

Many are doing it to supply money for our main crafting.. In my case cooking. Food items are not selling very well just yet on the AH, but should once it goes live. I want to get my skills up in crafting to be able to sell the "good stuff" ;)Others are doing it to buy a horse that they can call their own and not have to pay each time they want to ride some where.Others are doing to fill time since you can't level past 15 right now.Not to mention.. Once you have harvested the crops you can set you character up to make the pipeweed and walk away.. The last two nights My character has been online for 2+ hours each night but I have probably spent a total of 40 mintues actually "playing" the game.

I do eye exams while making iSilver. :wall:

So I am looking at a new patient's chart at their hobbies/interests. He listed leatherwork. I instinctively thought to myself, "Whatever. My hunter could totally pVVn you with leatherworking." :kicksrock:

:kicksrock: I wish some of these better MMORPGs could/would bring back housing. In the good old days of Ultima Online, there was nothing cooler that building a "shop" with your very own vendor set up to sell your wares. Star Wars Galaxies also had the ability.Talk about a money sink.

What is the pipeweed used for in this game? Just smoking? Does it give you trippy visuals?

And how big of an install is this?

This was super cool. You used to "buy" the vendor IIRC, then set him up with a bag with the stuff you wanted to sell. The best real estate would be around dungeons, where you could put bandages and stuff up for sale and they would go like hotcakes. You also had to continue to pay the vendor to stay open I think.

Had a vendor in SWG.. I also spent a God awful amount of time making up a Fish Aquarium.. Thanks to having a vendor it got seen a lot and :scared: of it were linked on forums which drove more customers to my vendor as they came by to see the Aquarium.. Ahhh. the ;) Memory's.. :nerd:

Main Epic questors. I stumbled upon chapter 5 and completed it. You can totally solo the 4 birds you need to kill.

Well, I am doing an experiment without soil and let's jsut say it is costly for me. :gang2:
Warned you watch out for the "Forgetting to check the "Use 100%" box."I do it on purpose here and there to build up my Seed supply but otherwise don't plant without it.

Talk to Shawn about that one. :shrug:No, it has nothing to do with me not checking the box. I did it on purpose. I want to know if you really get more poor plants, or if it is just the ratio. Should know in about 20 minutes. Will post results for a 39 field run without soil.

Well, that was teh suck. Now just by chance, I should get 5%, or 2of these fields, be well-tended without soil due to mastery. You know how many I got? NONE. Screw you LOTRO random dice rolls. :hot:

So I guess that makes it a good study, since I got no well-tended bonuses, but still  . . .

OK, the numbers:

39 fields, 129 total plants, so 3.31 plants per field, less than HALF with soil. Right away we see my profit margin per field taking a big dive, but what about seed production?

I got 39 fair plants, 90 poor. That means I make 95 silver, 16 bronze for the sales, but had 81.12 silver in cost of goods, so netted 14.04 silver for the whole thing, or 0.36 silver per field, down from 5.94 per field. HUGE LOSS! :hot:

Now for seed, I got 270 total, so I got 6.92 seeds per field, but got 5.37 poor per field with soil. So a differential of 1.55 seeds per field. However, given the fact we went down to 4 pipeweeds per field from 19.44, a cost loss of 9.42 silver per field, I would say without hesitation that it NEVER benefits to go without soil to "increase your seeds". You are better off always doing soil and BUYING the extra seeds. For your time, you will be much better off.

Now, put that in your pipe and smoke it. :)

Alright.. No More planting without soil and CHECKING THE BOX for me..

I would also add that the analysis I did with the soil had a seemingly LOW number of seeds provided. I had run 39 fields the time before and got enough seeds to plant 43 fields, so would say it fluctuates a bit, but tends to go UP over time, to where you get to 50 fields and are good to go.

I just have to say that I am pissed that I did all of that for 14 freaking silver, instead of the 250+ profit. :) :(

Back on track to do 45 well-tends. Will update with crop and profit. Base is 1807 silver

On initial analysis:

45 well-tended fields

45 water at 21.6 silver

90 ferts at 72 silver

135 soils at 172.8 sp

Total COGS: 266.4. For futre reference, each field COG is 5.92 silver.

If you would like to know how stupid that last experiment really was, after 5 fields, I have 33 good plants. :hot:

And, the processing has begun.

45 fields. 229 fair plants, 87 poor. That means I get 916 pipeweed for a total of 558.76 silver. Profit = 292.36 silver. Profit per field was 6.50 silver, compared to 5.94 per field before with the 43 fields, so this was a very good haul.

7.02 plants per field, which again was higher. I lost 3 poor plants this haul, meaning I will only get to do 43 next time through, but that is OK. It fluctuates, and as I have proven, I think, I would still be MUCH better off buying the seed to make up the difference than doing fields without soil.

Pulling in 292+ silver for around 20-25 minutes of doing stuff and a lot of processing time =

I will do questing in the evening with my other characters and make SHIPLOADS of cash during the day when I have ample open processing computer time anyway.

BTW - For the WoW peeps looking at this, money is also fairly hard to come by here. In fact, the exchange rate in LOTRO is 1 gold is equal to 1000 silver, and 1 silver = 100 copper. So 1 gold = 100,000 copper.

Will be sitting at about 2.1 gold base after this processing goes through.

Holy crap, Snogger. I am :bye: :lmao:
