I REALLY don't think he meant to be captured, though - how would he know Rousseau would turn him over to the Lost folks instead of assassinating him herself?

ok, my question is:

what exactly happened that made jack so sure that michael was setting them up? he told sayid that they still werent sure if he had turned.

obviously something made him 100% sure. i cant understand how having a couple "others" tracking them would make him think michael was up to no good.

Caught or caught out?I think he meant to be found in the net by the survivors. I don't think he expected his cover story to be blown. If Kate and company have figured out that dolls = trap, don't you think the others have?

Not sure, based on the climate I would say no, but I am not sure if they were in Russia or at the South Pole. I would think that either way they are probably close to one of the poles, thinking it might be easier to measure a magnetic anomoly that way?

Considering this flight was supposed to be from Australia to LA, southern pole is most likely answer between Russia or Southern Pole. Anywhere in the pacific oceon where an anamoly exists could work - who says it is one of the poles? If it is atlantis or an alien thing, it could be anywhere.

If you sail straight West but your compass is being pulled towards another untrue magnetic pole, you will actually sail in a large circle. Imagine a boat tied to a string which is attached to a "North Pole" on the island. North will continue to be the island's center and West will continue to be a tangent to the center point, causing you to sail in circles. This doesn't fit with being able to sail out on a bearing of 325, unless that's a GPS-based system vs. a compass system.

If you keep sailing in that direction you find a "hole" in the magnetism or the currents that keep pulling everything back to the island?

I'm still trying to decide whether Henry and his crew are WITH the Hanso/Dharma folks or are against them. 

Henry said they were the good guys...so who are the bad guys?

The way I looked at that is that Dharma are the bad guys (playing all the mind games and psychological experiments) and the Others really are the good guys. The Others have figured out Dharma's game and are refusing to play buy it.The only thing that doesn't fit is Kelvin and Desmond refering to them as the "Hostiles". Really the Others haven't exhibited any real hostile behavior yet - they only fight when provoked. Sure, they go around kidnapping people - but we don't know why yet, and I have a feeling eventually we're going to find out that the kidnapped people are better off living with the Others than with the survivors.

they are DEFINITELY prisoners. And it appears, based on the Claire episode, that they are drugged or hypnotized in some way to want to remain.

1. I think the Walt "special powers" angle has potential, but it's unfortunate that they won't be able to invest much time into it. Walt is already a lot bigger than he was when they started the show, and it's only been 60-something days in Lost-land. after the summer hiatus, he may come back 6 feet tall with a mustache and tattoos. so he will be effectively written out of the show...hence, so will Michael.

2. it's always the same crew (Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Locke, Hurley, Ecko, Michael, Charlie, Sayid, Jin) that get into the physical confrontation shenanigans. in group shots (funerals, beach, etc.), I've seen other fairly big, athletic looking dudes in the background. why aren't they recruited to help insted of Locke the gimp or Charlie the hobbit? if they're going to put extras in the background and not involve them in the plot lines, they could at least get little scrawny girlie men. or midgets.

3. it's not fair to some of us that just want to watch the show that in order to really follow along with what's happening, you have to be willing to do all kinds of homework by reading books, calling numbers, and checking web sites. I love the show, but I don't feel like doing all of this extra credit work with Widmore, Hanso, cast contracts, etc. so I guess I'll just have to enjoy the show for what it is. and for Kate.

4. even though everything seems to tie together, I find it hard to believe that they had 2+ seasons of material already fleshed out and ready, complete with twists, turns, and Portugese magnetism experts. I think it's all dynamic, retro-fitted to go with what we've already seen. that's why the "monster" has conveniently been missing lately, and why the Black Rock had no other significance but as a place to put the dynamite for them to find. and if it's all made up on the fly, just about anything can happen...and many things will never be solved.

I think you could enjoy it without reading the extra stuff. I did for most of this season. Usually the questions get answered, you just have to wait.

I completely agree. Which is why I don't think some things will be a big part of the future of the show, like what pulled the pilot out of the cockpit in the first episode.

I live in the Philly area and was watching on HD. Saw the plane crash, too. If it was just the West Coast feed, I am disappointed. Thought I had a cool info tidbit with seeing that, but I guess not.
