**** OFFICIAL **** LOST - The TV Series (1 Viewer)

It reminded of me of the old Charlie Brown cartoons where their teacher or another adult would talk and we couldn't understand them.
One of the things I think this show does extremely well is show how close these people are while also detailing quite clearly how removed from one another they remain to be. There are always barriers preventing meaningful connection.

Did it seem odd to you that none of the 3 of them thought it possible that it was a trap? It wasn't even considered by them. Seems pretty short-sighted considering that at least 1 of them, Sayid, definitely considers him to be an other.

Could the shot of the "balloon" in the previews for next week actually be a parachute?

Never mind. Here is a pic of the balloon.

Thought it was pretty boring tonight. Next weeks looks awfully good though.
:goodposting: The only thing I found strange, was Henry had all these questions but he didn't look at the cereal box and ask what DHARMA was

Tonight's Sawyer book: Judy Bloom 'Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.

They also made sure to show you Sun's pregnancy test was from the Widmore Labs. IIRC, there was a Widmore Construction sign in a Charlie flashback. :rubschin:

That baloon didn't look like is was there for 2 months in than islands weather. Maybe the Others captured and tortured the original baloonists and used that info to grt someone into the camp as a spy.

Lets face it, they want us to believe that Henry is an other.

Edit. It seems Henry is more interested in getting info (finding out how much they know about the island) than giving it. This smacks of experiment.

What weather? Have we seen anything other than 1 rain storm, and 1 rain shower?

It seems to rain alot and w/out notice. A baloon like the one shown would hold water enough to weigh it down and bring it out of the trees. Didn't Ana say "why isn't it raining here." Then they look up and see the baloon?

"you haven't said two words to me and now you're sitting outside my tent?"

That surely doesn't sound like Anna Lucia's voice.  And it's also the only phrase where they are not showing the character while they are speaking.  Assuming this is correct, I have absolutely no idea what the point of this is.
Exactly.
Now that the episode has played, I think it is safe to deem this convo fair game. Pretty sure that is the point of the thread, to pick apart possible clues.Intersting find on the voice, almost sounds like Drew Barrymore. I'd be interested in someone going back and comparing it to the voice Locke was speaking to in the hotel room that was on the phone. Defintiely doesn't sound like Katie Seagal. The thing that stood out to me was the fact that when AL was running in the first few seconds of the clip, it sounded a bit like a locomotive....between her pants and the sound of the ocean. This is what caught me, especially with all the talk way back of rollercoaster sounds.

Here's the thing that I thought was odd. Why do they give a crap about that balloon in the first place? Its not like Ethan and Goodwin couldn't get info and blend in with them.

I guess this guy has to be telling the truth because there is a balloon in the jungle? I guess that's a lock if they find it.

Oh wait, the others could have captured/killed the balloon party and gotten the information rendering the whole walking into a possible trap a worthless venture.

Duh

I have some thoughts on potential explanations regarding Sun's pregnancy. These might not all be possible concerning I haven't memorized all the facts and timelines of the show, but then again it's a TV show centering around weirdness, so I guess anything is possible:

The Obvious

1. Jin was right -- it actually is a miracle, related to the "supernatural" nature of the island.

2. Sun was lying to Jin, and slept with her English teacher (or someone else in America, if the timeline allows?). That look on her face when she and Jin embraced after she told him she'd never been with anyone else was a little interesting. Even more interesting would be if she actually slept with someone else on the island.

The Maybe Not So Obvious

3. The doctor was actually lying to Sun about Jin's sterility for some unknown reason -- maybe some kind of connection to the Others?

4. Somehow, she may have been impregnated or artificially inseminated by the Others on the island.

Personally, I think Explanation #4 would be the most intriguing.

I was thinking #2 during the show. Michael, maybe??

Thing that pisses me off about repeats is that they are repeats from last season. I'd rather catch up on this season - then in the summer or whatever, start from day 1 and go forward.
From what I'm seeing with the repeats is that the producers are picking and choosing the repeats to give context for an upcoming episode.I believe a recent repeat was of Jin and Sun's backstory. What was last night's episode?

The more I see what repeats are on, the easier it is to figure out, without using the innernets, what upcoming episodes may be dealing with.

Just my $.02

Henry's dialogue at the end of the show was great. If he was as scared as he claims he is why would you antagonize your captors, though?

But the "Good thing I'm not one of them" line followed by "You guys got any milk?" was classic!

By all accounts he's been imprisoned for 3 days. If he is, in fact, an Other. How would Zeke and the crew know who has him. It could be Danielle, it could be the plane crash surivors, or he could have fallen off a cliff or something. Why would they immediately assume that Henry was taken and convene at one location waiting for him to send people there?

My best guess at this point would be that DHARMA/Others set up the balloon crash site and:

a) Gale is a DHARMA/Other plant that was set up to be captured to glean more information with the balloon story as backup and to set up an ambush for his release

b) He was legitmately caught, but all Other/DHARMA people who are out solo have the balloon story to use as a cover to then set up the ambush to negotiate their release.

Quick synopsis?
Much of the episode centered on Sun and Jin's flashback to when they tried unsuccessfully to conceive. That was counterbalanced by Sun discovering she is now pregnant on the island. The kicker is the reason they couldn't conceive earlier is because of Jim being unable to. Another subplot involved Sun meeting with the man she had a blind date with last season (I forget his name, but he's the son of the hotel ownere where Jin previously worked). There was some sexual tension between the two but Sun insisted to Jim she had never slept with another man. So Jin said the baby must be a "miracle." And life was good between them. The other aspect of the episode dealt with Henry drawing a map for Ana to find his balloon. She took Sayid and Charlie to find it but when they arrived at the destination on the map they did not find a balloon. Back in the hatch, Jack let Henry out of the locked room and gave him breakfast. Henry told them about the map (they didn't know about it) and said if he was one of the Others he would've drawn up a map that led them to a secluded place where they would be ambushed and then offered in trade for his return. The episode then ended with him looking at Locke and saying

"You guys got any milk?"

Terrific episode.
Thanks. My wife was flipping channels all night watching that CBS crime show with Mandy Patinkin (it's a decent show by the way). But I can that if the above synopsis is spot on, that we saw all of that without watching the whole episode.

I really would like to hear the part where Jin was hearing things played backwards. It sounded like backwards english to me.

About the Anna thing. In the clip it was clearly another voice, but in the actual show, it sounded much more like Anna. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I meant to post that too. I'm guessing it was just the regular Sawyer and Bernard dialogue played in reverse. But, with this show, you never know. This isn't the first time they've used backwards audio.

You let your wife hold the remote? I thought the episode was very good. I would still like some closure on some of the plots but next week's previews look good. While I am intrigued about the Sun pregnancy, I am a little worried too much time is going to be spent on it making me wish it was not part of the script.

So, I was thinking about this. They've been on the island for 50 days now. If Sun is just getting morning sickness now, it would seem that she got pregnant on the island.

Which means:

-Jin is the father and had a miracle ball healing similar to Locke's leg healing

or

-Sun was with another man on the island.

If they have been there 50 days, there is still a possibility she shacked up with her english tutor before they got on the plane.

I think you can drop the clip thing. I listened for it because of your post and it sounded just like Anna to me and it sure seemed to fit right into the conversation. Maybe the AOL clip wasn't perfect, but it was definitely Anna saying that line.

Possible, but pretty sure it is Jin's kid. Sun did have a weird look on her face when she was hugging Jin, but then she smiled. I think based on the 50+ days and going through nausea, etc. with my wife, I don't think it was the English tutor or anyone else on the plane.I do agree with the post above that this baby, if we are taking the Doctor at face value, is a result of something to do with the island. For the same reason that Locke is walking now, I could see Jin's problem being "fixed" by the island if we are to believe that the island "fixed" Locke. I do believe the Doctor was being truthful because based on what Jin did, I would be afraid to insult Sun's father or Jin who is Sun's father's enforcer.

I am totally confused about Gale. On the one hand, based on seeing the balloon in the previews, he could be telling the truth, but on the other hand he is acting way too manipulative for a guy who is imprisoned.I am starting to think that he isn't an other, just because it seems like the writers are trying too hard to convince us that he is an Other.

Either way, next week's episode looks awesome. I liked this week's and I think that Sun's pregnancy will be important less because of the baby and more because of what it may mean about the "healing" power of the island.

speaking of sun, she looked damn good last night. especially when she was in her nighty about to perform for jin. there was a scene last year with her in her undies that i thought was not very flattering. but, she looked yummy last night.

she would be honored to know that i offically would....

The part the was through Jin's hearing was reversed. I've dug up what was said:

Sawyer: “Let sunshine tell ‘em.”Sawyer: “Hell, no.”Bernard: “You should tell him”Bernard: “Well…”Sawyer: “Not my place”Bernard: “Well aren’t ya gonna tell him?”Sawyer: “Well I got my sources.”Bernard: “Well, well how do you know?”

Just giving a counter argument to this post.....Ana Lucia could have thought it was a trap, which is why she asked Charlie for his gun. "Give it to someone who can use it" or whatever her quote was.

IMO Gale is an other. He WAS quizzing Jack and Locke. "What is the computer for? Where did the cereal come from?" etc.

Correct me if I am wrong on the timeline, but isn't Gale's story that his balloon crashed before the plane did?

I suppose it is possible for the balloon to still be hung up in the trees after all this time, but it would probably be ripped to shreds. The fact that (in the previews) it looks to be intact ("Why isn't it raining here?") leads me to believe that it is a set up.

If Gale turns out NOT to be an other, than I want to know why he has seemed so deceiving in the hatch....

Another real yawner last night. It took an hour and 1 minute to find out Sun is preggo and it's a miracle? Yippie!! Atleast he will get to play with Aaron before he too is sought after by the others. Aaron is still on the island right? And they are really dragging out the whole Gale story line. Just kill the lying SOB and be done with him. Dude creeps me out.

Nice work.I got the impression they were just trying to show Jin had NFC what they were saying. This was clear when he went to Sun in her garden and said "I have NFC what they said, I need you".

So say she is pregnant. Two months or so. We're in year two of the show and like day 50 of the island? This damn pregnancy is going to basically drag on for the life of the show.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeee

I agree with Hulk here. Baby has to have been concieved on the island. Sun would have started feeling "funny" a lot sooner if she shacked up with the teacher.

No one caught the typo in Jin's subtitles? Near the end, something he said was translated as, "You're father ...."

Smoo would have flipped.

Don't worry grasshopper, I think one thing that the show has done is forget about story lines. ;) We haven't seen hide no hair of Walt/Michael, which doesn't bother me that much, never really liked Walt one way or another.Since the pregnancy will take another 7-8 months, it will go back into the background for a while until the baby actually becomes part of the story, i.e. like Claire and Aaron. They were big in season 1 due to the kidnapping, but they only popped up because of Charlie's demons and to find the medical hatch. Didn't see Claire/Aaron once this week and it doesn't look like she will be back soon.

I think Henry is an Other and at the end of the show when he was mentioning about leading them into a trap - I believe this will be the case. Didn't someone post a while ago some info from the producers indicating some of the questions that will get answered this season? I seem to remember that they said we will find out what happened to Michael, where the Others live, etc... At least I think it was along those lines. Anyway, the three getting captured would lend itself towards moving in that direction I believe.

C'mon people.....

How are some people really trying to "figure out" whether or not Gale is or is not an Other?

Are you really not sure? Really? :bag:

C'mon......you are better than that.......stop being a dummy.

Now, let's just move on.

Please.

It's OK, it's alright- this time, let's just forget it and move on to the next topic.

This show is beginning to piss me off. Last season, the survivors wouldn't have even thought about going on the camping trip in last noght's episode because of all the "smoke", bears, trees getting blown up, etc. Now they just up and leave, build fires (wouldn't that attract unwanted guests?) and act like there is nothing to be afraid of.

In closing, I'm getting sick of story lines being forgotten about.

END RANT :hot:

I thought it was even more ridiculous that Sun wanted to be left in her garden a few days after being snatched away...and then Jin let her.

Yes, guarding against the Others, not bears, smoke, and exploding trees.

I think it's highly likely that the pregnancy test wasn't on the plane. Why else would the writers have Kate ask "who brings a pregnancy test on a plane?"The fact that a medical supply came from Sawyer's stash that was not on the plane could mean a lot of different things.
