I'm liking the Ghost Rider angle. I'm not real familiar with this Robbie Reyes version but the visuals on him are pretty cool.

They seem to be trying harder to drop in some MCU cookies for us now. It doesn't take much to keep me happy. Saying that Steve Rogers is out of commission or that the Sokovia Accords are in play is enough for me. :)

The next MCU movie coming out is Dr. Strange, which will break from the science-based superheroes of the current MCU and expand into the realm of the mystical. My guess is that AoS is following suit by bringing GR into the mix.
Was thinking the same, going with a more mystical angle this season with Ghost Rider and the "ghosts" that were introduced in the last episode. Although I liked when they had Fitz Simmons roll their eyes at Mac when he asked if it might really be ghosts. My wife is not a fan of Ghost Rider so far, I am on the fence.

The "new" SHIELD feels weird too, wonder where they are going with it. Would have preferred them not go "legit" so soon.

Nice shot of Chloe's ### in the season premier.

That's unfortunate. Perhaps this is a weird line to draw, but I'm on board with the science fiction-y stuff, yet not a fan of the mystical realm.

it is a weird line yet I agree with it when it comes to SHIELD.  I think I'll enjoy Dr. Strange, but I'm not digging this season of SHIELD.  Besides, if you're using Ghost RIder you have to use Nick Cage, right?

Nope.  After his second outing as Ghost Rider, Sony-Columbia gave up the rights to the character and let them revert back to Marvel.

Here's an article.

I've been kind of eh about the new season so far.

Was really hoping the new Director was going to be one of the Patton Oswalt characters.

  When we were watching the latest episode I turned to my wife and said "They are waiting to do a big reveal about the new Director of SHIELD. I hope it is Patton Oswalt".

I hate the mystical stuff too. I also don't like Daisy's emo sarcastic too cool for school attitude. So far a big fail for me. Fitzsimmons keeps saving the day for me.

When they kept not showing Ghost Rider's face in the first episode I told my GF it was going to be Grant Ward and she said "#### that. I'm out." :lmao:

I wonder if Patton took a haitus due to his wife's passing.

At any rate it seems like every season everyone is "not feeling it" but by episode 7 or so everyone is "on board". I'm not a comic book follower by any means so I have no gripes about the Ghost Rider etc.

That being said, the ghost stuff gave me the heeby jeebies initially but it just doesn't feel right for the show.

Looks like the Director is going to turn out to be "Jeffrey Mace" who has ties back to the 40's with Captain America.  Mace was also The Patriot in the comics.

Exactly. To quote myself from awhile back:

It's about time they realized that this series is really just a love story and got Fitz-Simmons back on track again.

The entire last season featured a dead character possessed by an alien hive mind. Ghost Rider isn't that big a leap.

I have a line with my Sci-Fi. Aliens are cool. Realistic enough for me. It;s a big ### universe out there. Mystic ####, magic, ghosts... not so much. I lose interest. That's me though.

Hope you're not a fan of the Marvel Netflix shows then. Iron Fist has been a mystical character in the comics, and I don't see that changing with his upcoming series. And the Black Sky stuff in Dardevil seems pretty mystical, too.

I have not yet watched this weeks episode but I have been enjoying this season so far.

One general comment I want to make is I wish the writers would feel it is ok to have a physically weak member(s) of the cast.

First they took Sky from a computer nerd to bad-### after two training sessions with Ward.  Now this season they are showing the lab geek Fitz as being able to one punch knock out guys.

They have the perfect Master/Blaster setup with Fitz/Mac.  If they want Fitz to be out in the field more, they could still use his brains to Mac's brawn to form a nice combination when fighting bad guys.

I will be really bummed if and when they decide that Simmons needs to be round house wheel kicking guys heads off.

Not a huge fan of the actor playing Reyes. He just kind of seems to be there, I don't find anything about the character interesting until he goes GR.

Dunno, don't think it's been revealed.
I think it was pretty much this. She's been obsessing so much over how the lie detector might pick up on her lying and how that she spotted the same tells from him when he was talking about the story on TV.  She probably would've been better off when she told him to excuse her from further lie detector tests if she had just framed it as she picked up on him lying and felt he probably didn't want that to come out in her test.  The smug and blackmail-ish way she did it instead is just a sure way to make him suspicious about what she's hiding.

Does the ambigram of "Darkhold" on the cover of the book make anyone else think of the "Angels & Demons" movie?

Similar comments as some others, wasn't sure first few episodes but really liking this season now. They managed to work some science into the mystical part which balances it out some. Wondering what happened to Fitz and Colson at the end there, did they get zapped into another dimension, phased like the "ghosts?" Seemed like they disappered in some way. Also loved the callbacks to season 2 of Agent Carter with Isodyne and tying in Johnny Blaze to Robbie Reyes.I want to know what deal the new director made with the crooked senator or where he sent Simmons.

Have to wait 4 weeks for the next episode?!? That's some B.S.

They've done the mid-season break every year but it's usually been later in the winter.
If they want to take a break in December like they have every prior season then fine. But airing only 6 episodes and taking a month off (and they already skipped a week for one of the debates)? Seems pretty stupid to me. I understand not airing on the night of the election, but why skip the rest of the month?

Could it have something to do with Dr. Strange's release?

I thought I read somewhere in this thread that the TV and movie sides were growing apart so maybe there's a political aspect to it?

I think they start their break early so they can start back up in early January instead of February or March like some other shows.

Ok so the bad guy that they are left having to deal with now... with the power we know he has, anyone existing or a new comics character?

In the comics (according to the Marvel database) Eli Morrow is Robbie's uncle and a devil worshiper who was killed and possessed the Charger until he eventually merged with Robbie to become the Ghost Rider. This is not how Robbie got his powers in AoS.

I have seen some speculation that Eli could be the MCU's Molecule Man. I would be surprised by this, since Molecule Man is basically a god (he can control matter down to the molecular level), which seems a bit beyond the ability of S.H.I.E.L.D. to deal with.

Ok, I watched the winter finale and liked the GR stuff.  Does make sense that Eli could be Molecule Man but we may never know.

AND WTF with AIDA and MAY???!!!!

So, at the end of the last episode, we saw Aida making a brain.  I'm guessing she's been corrupted by the Darkhold, and she was building a LMD that she used to replace May.  Probably the first of many.  Possibly she thinks that replacing the AoS with LMDs and then locking them up like she has with May is the ultimate way to keep them safe.

Hopefully they'd recruit some assistance from other "gods"

Liked the mid season finale a lot, especially with the May reveal at the end. Guessing the LMD & Aida is the next part of the seasons focus with maybe the senator and her Inhuman brother in the background to come back out for the last part of the season?

Once again I am wondering who on earth thought of this scheduling though, take a month off, air 2 episodes and now take another month off? But at least they are coming back in January like someone else said. Hoping that is not the last we see of Ghost Rider and Coulson mentioned something about the last Ghost Rider so maybe he knows more there than he was letting on originally?

Yeah I got that... just a WTF moment...

She didn't exactly keep that other dude safe.
He put her plan to save the others in jeopardy.  He had to be eliminated so she could keep the other safe.  I did say she's been corrupted by the Darkhold, so she's not necessarily going to go with full rational logic.

I am really enjoying this season. A relatively complex narrative arc that is playing out over the course of the entire season.  Interesting story focusing on the central cast of characters with minimal gimmick inhuman casting.

Last night's episode was damn good. Easily one of the best in series history. I wasn't on board with continuing the Darkhold storyline after Ghost Rider left but it's evolved into something really exciting to watch.

And while I'm sure the big reveal in Daisy's final scene may not go over well with everybody I thought it was a great way to do it. I'm bummed the show's off until April.

Fun season, but why why why did you have to go and make Tex a bad guy ABC???  How could you do that to us? :hot:
