*** Official Michael Turner 2007 offseason thread *** (1 Viewer)

Packers just had an opportunity to draft Antonio Pittman or another RB with their 2nd rounder, and instead traded the pick to the Jets. They traded completely out of the round. Interesting. EDIT -- they traded to the bottom of the round (pick 63), sorry. The site I was looking at hadn't updated that pick yet.

Could they trade him for a second if it s the best offer they get , cause it would come soon.
No, I don't think they would trade him for a second. Especially if they were offered a first next year. Before the draft started today, I thought the most likely time for a trade announcement would be during the third round. I still think that.

:lmao: why is that?
Because it seems like they've got a 2008 first-rounder in the bag, and were still negotiating to try to get a 2007 third-rounder thrown in. If they are successful, the trade would have to be announced during the third. If the Chargers can't get anything else, a trade could be announced anytime in the next few weeks (probably before May mini-camps).It's also still possible that he won't be traded, although that goes against the reports that the Chargers were offered a first next year and are willing to take it. But if he is traded, it will probably be announced either during the third or fourth round this year, or sometime after the draft.

I own Turner and I think now, he will be a Charger this year, Oh well I traded a first and 2nd for this year before I thought he would get traded and now well, Maybe next year...

Yeah, the Chris Henry pick suggests that Tennessee si out. Unless AJ Smith is so smart as to have Chris Davis adn Chris Henry higher than anyone else in the country (not that I would question his judgment). I guess Henry could develop behind LT. But more important, why TEN draft Henry AND trade for Turner. It looks like it is down to GB, IMO.

Unless the offer was from the Titans, in which case they shot themselves in the foot by waiting (being stubborn)The best thing may very well be to keep him, but if they wanted the deal offered, they should have taken it.

It wasn't the Titans. It was reported that the Titans were trying to work a swap of first-rounders this year, not give up a first rounder for Turner. Also, the Titans had a deal worked out with Turner, but it was reported that the team that offered a first next year did not have a deal worked out with him.

Wow Chris Henry!

269 rushes in college, 892 yards with a 3.2 ypc and 9 TD's in 4 years and 26 total receptions. WOW!

I think this was a huge reach by the Titans and a wasted pick.

So to start the season Tenn might have L. White and Chris Henry as their RB's. UGGGH.

It took A.Peterson 7 games to get 1000 yards in college.

Please don't rub it in.

But he'll look good posing on the team's website and magazine cover. And flexing in the mirror. Doesn't that count for something? :goodposting:

Thanks. It's hard to keep up on all the speculation. Especially when it isn't panning out. :goodposting:

If TEN ends up with C.Henry as their starting RB this season instead of Michael Turner over a 3rd round draft choice I sincerely doubt many people will conclude SD was the team that shot themselves in the foot by being stubborn.

What happens with the other team is besides the point. IF the deal had been with the Titans (I'm told here that it wasn't), and they lose a 1st - instead losing Turner for a 09 comp pick, two teams would have shot themselves.

With Buf and Ten presumably out of the picture, does that leave only GB?
Maybe not... Dallas did land Cleveland's 2008 1st rounder today. They had been talking with SD earlier in the process, but IIRC pulled out due to the money Bus Cook was asking for.
I like Turner, I own him, But why? Why would Dallas go after him when they Had Jones and Barber Running well for them last year?We may all have to face the fact that Turner will never start for any team cause SD sucks..

I didn't say they should trade for him. I said they were among the teams looking to acquire him. I guess you'd have to ask them why.

Its over Turner will stay in SD this year.Cause the universe is just that way somtime.
WHat about Green Bay , they wont start the season with Morency as their starter . PLus now all decent RB's are gone .
They pick very soon, after the Bears (due to the Jets pick trade). If they go RB, it's time to give up. If not, it's still looking good.
:goodposting: Exactly what I was thinking.
If they have a deal on the table they wont select a RB .

Green Bay Brandon Jackson, Morency for a Year then Jackson.Turner is in SD for the year. From Draft Scout.comCompares To: J.J. Arrington, Arizona Cardinals … With only one season of heavy rush load work, Jackson is still a work in progress, but he shows he is a decent underneath receiver with some value as a return specialist … He appears to be very capable of breaking a game open with his speed, but while he flashes brilliance, he also disappears for long stretches on the field, making him appear to be better as a change of pace back than a featured runner … With two shoulder surgeries in two years, his durability is another concern. Morency, can you say Morency

As a Charger fan and Morency owner, sounds good to me!

Turner to Buff......Turner to Tenn.....Turner to GB...... :banned: So much for "sources" in this thread.......
Whether or not a trade gets done at this point, we can be fairly certain that the several sources who were claiming that a trade was done or about to be done ("book it") were, at best, a bit gullible.

If Tennessee had offered their 2008 1st round pick for MT, AJ made the dumbest move of the draft by not taking it. Tennessee is one big hit away from having the top pick next year? After losing Henry and Bennett, what else do they have besides Young? I would even venture a guess that even with a healthy Young all year, Tennessee is going to take a step back. Teams will have much more tape on Young and will do a much better job of containing him this year. Who else do they have that can step up and win a game for them?

but if they had Turner, the pick would be #32.

That is funny. Turner may be good, but....

"best player on our board"

what kind of crap is that? the guy is prone to fumbling, can't block and hasn't shown he can actually produce.

this has not been a good draft for us.
