Which one of their outfielders are they trading and eating the contract on?
Re-evaluate come November. I think they want to get rid of Ethier, but if Crawford can't stay on the field their hands may be tied.
Yeah, I don't think Puig's playing time will be an issue, and I don't think a trade is necessary. Most nights, they won't have 4 healthy OFs. Injuries will take care of 75% of any playing time issues. On most of the nights when they do have 4 healthy guys, just bench Ethier or whichever of Kemp/Crawford could use a day off.No reason to trade Ethier. They can't get any value for him and are going to pay most of that contract either way. It's not like LA can't afford an expensive 4th outfielder. If Ethier never plays again, that's only $17 mill for one OF slot (Puig/Ethier) that's actually producing, which would be pretty exciting for the Dodgers.

Some Rockie named Rob Scahill just got blown up by the Padres. Check out this play-by-play...

Rob Scahill pitching:

Chase Headley : Ball, Headley hit by pitch.

Carlos Quentin : Foul, Strike swinging, Quentin homered to left, Headley scored.

Jedd Gyorko : Strike swinging, Ball, Ball, Foul, Gyorko homered to left.

Kyle Blanks : Foul, Foul, Blanks doubled to left.

Cameron Maybin : Ball, Maybin singled to center, Blanks scored.

Then they yanked him. Mercifully.

If it's not September or the playoffs, I'd rather my team lose a 9 inning game than win a 14 inning+ game. Tigers had a 16 or 17 inning game a few years ago and it took them two weeks to recover.

BTW, for those of you watching on FOX, check out the dork with the enormous yellow headphones sitting just behind home plate in the 2nd row. He's at almost every home game. It's hilarious when they go in tight on a right-handed batter and you see him up close. Looks like he's getting ready to land a plane.

yeah ive seen that guy for years on tv

I can't believe that I just made it through Major League II. What an awful movie.
I think it's amazing meta commentary. The whole movie is basically about the bloat of the hangover effect of coming out of nowhere and that's the one thing they get right. No snipes, shooting on one or the 3 or 4 most recognizable parks in baseball and tacking up ####ty blue vinyl on the walls, I mean, it's retched. Of course at least it's the only major league sequel to stay IN THE MAJORS

MLB Network should stick to 8 Men Out, Cobb, The Natural and Major League. I'm even fine with League of their Own, but Major League II reduces the credibility of the network IMO.

They can keep playing Summer Catch imo. Jessica Biel is incredibly hot in that movie.

That's Jeremy Kapstein ... a senior advisor for the Sox front office and a former agent.

Anyone have a clue what's been wrong with Matt Moore the last couple of starts? Getting rocked again today at home by the Orioles.

They need to expand their range from movies released in the late 70's and forward, and go back. Bang The Drum Slowly, Lou Gehrig Story, Fear Strikes Out are all great baseball movies.

How much do the Angels have tied up in Pujols, Hamilton and CJ Wilson the next 6 years? They need to stop trying to sign free agents.

It's my favorite subject right now:

Josh: 2013: 17M; 2014: 17M; 2015: 25M; 2016: 32M; 2017: 32M

Albert: 2013: 16M; 2014: 23M; 2015: 24M; 2016: 25M; 2017: 26M; 2018: 27M; 2019: 28M; 2020: 29M; 2021:30M

Ceej : 2013: 11M; 2014: 16M; 2015: 18M; 2016: 20M

By year:

2013: 44M

2014: 56M

2015: 67M

2016: 77M

2017: 58M (Although CJ is off the books this year, this is my favorite. I'm assuming Josh and Albert will be platooning DHs at this point)

The Angels local television deal pays them ~$150M/yr.
Agreed. It's all Monopoly money and they could probably pay double or triple what they are paying these guys if they want. But at some point, you have to at least compare your payroll relative to the rest of the league and your performance to the rest of the league.

Or maybe you don't, maybe these guys enjoy winning the "I spent the most on my real Fantasy team" award.

Why is ESPN willing to employ Ozzie Guillen?

Do they commonly throw people out there that call people ######s and support communist leaders?

There aren't many people on the planet who hate Pedroia more than me, but that little ******* is an incredible ballplayer. Every time you look up, he's hitting a ####ing ROCKET somewhere. He'd fit right in also in any era.

Pujols has really slowed down. I figured last year he struggled some due to the change in leagues but his bat speed doesn't look like it used to, dunno. Angels overpaid for Hamilton but he's a great player who has high highs, and low lows. I've hated CJ Wilson since he was in high school, always thought he was incredibly overrated.

AL team home run totals

14th Twins with 54

15th Royals with 31

Didn't see that coming, I thought the Royals would be scoring runs in bunches with homers and every other way. How bout that Eric Hosmer?

I played in fog like that once in high school.

Center fielder turned to me (in RF) and yelled, "Can you see home plate?"

Me: "I can't even see you."

We somehow played seven innings.
