*** OFFICIAL NFC CHAMPIONSHIP : LA Rams vs NO Saints *** (1 Viewer)

It probably would have benifited the Saints had they called it then Rams could have scored  TD and forced NO to try and score a TD at the end and the refs likely then call the PI penalty.
Play calling would have been a lot more aggressive for sure.

I’m glad the Saints lost. Eagles should have beat them last week, so many missed opportunities. Saints, like Payton are vastly overrated.
Payton is a tool. The no PI call was a brutal miss but they wouldn’t be here if not for the pick play last week so works both ways.

The "facemask" on 2nd & goal was an open hand and incidental contact. No grasp/pull/control of the facemask. This used to be a 5yd penalty, but incidental FM is no longer a foul

basically all of the Rams fan whining don't even know the rules.

@ChrisRaybon: The 2018 NFC Championship will always be remembered as the one where the penalty that would’ve let Sean Payton off the hook for turning 1st & 10 at the LA 13 with 2 minutes to go and LA with 2 timeouts left into LA getting the ball back with 1:41 and 1 timeout left wasn’t called.

Whatever.  Yeah sure looks openhanded here.

Yeah no head getting pulled or anything.

Maybe it is time that the NFL hires non-geriatric refs.  Maybe try getting refs that actually have 20/20 vision.

I'd like to see booth reffing as a supplement to on-field refs. Everything can be replayed in near-real-time. Use the technology.

:lmao:  now you are a rules expert.  By the way, what ridiculous excuses are you going to make for Gurley now?  I'm glad the world got to see how worthless he is as a player 👍
Nice change of subject.  Your post said “open handed” and “no grasp, pull or control of the facemask”.  I prove both wrong.  Your wrong, admit it.  I’m not going to muck this thread up arguing with you again.

Payton likely blew the game with the playcalling to end regulation. The refs could have bailed him out with a correct call, certainly, but they blew it too. #### happens.

It’s always interesting when a guy tries trolling the team that won.

That's not my Twitter feed.  I'll trust his unbiased opinion over your homer opinion.

Also, it's not YOUR wrong.  It's YOU'RE.

That tells me all I need to know about what I've been arguing with.

Move to grammar.  Classic.  Trust your eyes.

Bye

Nickell Robey-Coleman just told me in #Rams locker room that he deliberately hit #Saints as hard as he could, to stop what he thought would be sure TD -- and yes, he says he was early and looked for flags afterward. Said officials let it get dirty, and it fit dirtier by end
I guess that's what you got to do in the moment. Had that call been made, would Rams fans have been PO'd at Robey-Coleman, or would it have been understood that he had to try SOMETHING in that moment?

That doesn't make sense.  If you are the Rams there, the Saints scoring a TD is better than getting a 1st down.  A TD means you at least get it back with 1:40 (ish) with a chance to tie the game, but a 1st down means the Saints can run it down to almost :00 before kicking a chip shot to win.

Granted, but that's what Robey-Coleman is reported to have said

it's unfortunate that all the post game stuff all most are talking about is that missed call. there are numerous other reasons why Saints lost and they should own it. Sports media, that is kind of your job to ask direct questions about the game. Not hyper focus on just one missed call in an entire game

Would have been bummed but understood.  The play that would have stuck with me was Joyner and the 46yrd catch to set that play up. He was to focused on getting the pick instead of just making the easy right play and break up the pass.  Was selfish and could have cost us the game.

Right. What I meant was, his line of thinking didn't make sense.
I bet that players, in the moment while hustling to make a play, don’t much regard situational results. The focus required to defend a pass (say) in the moment is just too encompassing.

Sorry, you can’t even troll loses like these. That is probably the worst deciding call I’ve seen in the 30 years I’ve been watching football. I was fine with the refs staying out of the game on a lot of the plays but that one was awful. You can’t miss a call like that.

No. They lost the game simply because of that call.  It's first down they can run three times and kick a chip shot with very little time on the clock. It's one of the worst calls in the history of the NFL.

The NFL office should fire the guy on the spot and apologize to the city of New Orleans and the team. It was that obvious and that bad

ehh sounds like an excuse. no one would argue that the ref should have made a call, but blaming that for the loss is a a real weak to take accountability for the game. Particularly for the coach in his press conference to take that stance, it is shameful. any coach with integrity comes out and says

"yeah, refs screwed up bad. but we shouldn't have been in that position. we should have managed the clock better (or a few other coaching mistakes)".

if you want to put the game all on one play, it is that INT in OT. Brees should have never thrown that ball, especially on 2nd down. if it was 4th down, fine, but you don't have a veteran QB as the focus of your offense make a terrible mistake like that.

i get if i was a Saints fan i would probably blame it all on that call. But objectively, there is more to it

Nickell Robey-Coleman will never be confused with Marcus Williams.

You’re not wrong about it but if that happened to my team, you’re damn straight I would be blaming the refs.  This wasn’t an ordinary game.  This was for a super bowl.  Saints fans have every right to vent.

And I’m not just saying this because I had $400 riding on the Saints.     :oldunsure:

Brees doesn't make that int when the game is over and they win by 3. Logic failure.

If it matters I'm a Steelers lifer and don't give a rip about the saints. They got screwed though. I actually picked the Rams to win in our office pool. Just feel bad for the fans and players of New Orleans
