***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (1 Viewer)

I'm liking Torry Holt. Speaks his mind...and he usually has something interesting to say.

Good job getting him on the podium.
I agree, but I wonder if in Mortensen-speak, "Alright, dude" = "Shut up. You don't know what you're talking about"?Ol' Chris didn't like Torry harping on Davis staying at safety.

 Rodgers to Dallas at 20?
No way.I stand by what I wrote earlier...Rodgers to the Raiders at 26.
While I agree GB wants to win now, I dont think you pass on the value of Rodgers at 24.Raiders at 26 makes no sense. Rodgers doesnt fit Davis' idea of a QB, they have a huge amount of money tied up in Collins, and Turner needs help now, not in the future.
Green Bay has Brett Favre.Oakland has Kerry Collins.

If you think Rodgers to Oakland makes no sense... ;)

If he doesn't go the Raiders, he slips out of the first round. Every team picking after Oakland has a star QB locked up for years.

We'll see, I know that Henson isn't the guy, they have Drew freaken Bledsoe right now, good for a year, 2 at max. It would be hard to pass up the guy at 20 when 2 weeks ago he was No.1 overall.
Unless you think Aaron Rodgers is going to lead Dallas to the SB this year or next year, I see no reason for Parcells to take Aaron Rodgers.

I know they (CAR) met with Georgia product Thomas Davis, I'm not sure they met with Derrck Johnson, because they didn't expect to see him at #14. I think because of that, they were aware of Davis' intentions, heart, mettle, etc. and weren't as aware of Johnson's needs, wants, desires, etc. There's nothing wrong with taking a Safety here.

Interesting pick, but at least they didn't select Aaron Rogers. ;)
If that's the case, poor planning by the Panther's brass.

If he hires the Postons, I'm sure they'll fight for top-overall-pick money for him

Except for New England. Things have not been going well in the Brady contract extension talks. Bill B. might take him just based on the value he would get in this slot, but I'm not sure Brady would like it too much. Brady had two years left on his contract.

:lmao: :lmao: Soldier II

This could end up being a GOOD thing for Rodgers, if he ends up going to a better team then previously thought.

That's what I like about him... he looks at this guy as a football player and says the equivalent of "I don't care what those cards you're holding say about him playing linebacker. I don't want to go over the middle if that guy is laying back there at safety, 'cause he'd knock the crap out of me." That's good info.

I thought about that David, but since Brady is the higher power and controls the world, this seems impossible.

Definitely. Torry should have shot back, "Alright dude, why don't you try going over the middle against a guy like that sometime? Or would you wait for 'sources' to tell you it was okay?"That would have been great TV.

Houston (Carr) and Cincinnati (Palmer) are up. They both took QBs at 1.01 recently, and both have made first round trades recently (Cincinnati last year IIRC, Houston earlier today).Does someone trade up for Rodgers now?

Maybe the 49ers take Rodgers at 2.01...and either trade Alex Smith or have them battle for the top position :boxing: .

Why bother? Unless Dallas takes him, he's going to slide even more.

They could probably trade Smith's rights to Saban for their entire draft next year.

Bentley> Hi.
Too embarrassed to be in here with your real name?Johnson was a pretty damn good value right there.

As a Cowboys fan, the last thing I want is another stinkin' questionable quarterback. Also, Coach Purcells isn't exactly building for the future at this point.

Double-QB offense!

Parcells might not, but Jones who will be around longer than him might see the value in the pick. I'm not saying they will for sure, but eyebrows certainly have to be raised Chase.

If Rodgers somehow lasts to 2.03, the folks in Miami are gonna feel stupid giving up that pick for Feeley last year. Of course, there's no way he gets past Cleveland at 2.02. IMHO, he goes late first.

Pretty much. Did you hear the Wendy's finger-chili lady got arrested? The headline on our local paper is "FINGERED!" :own3d:

What up Bent. What are you drinking this afternoon?
Chimay Blue right now. After that, I think all I have left around the house is Miller Light (leftover from last weekend's poker game) and homebrew. Situation is critical at the bentley house.

Someone come up to get Travis Johnson ahead of Cincy (since damn near every Mock had them taking him)?
Johnson isnt going to go top 25, IMO. Character and work ethic issues. If someone is coming up, its likely for Barron or Spears.

Hey, why does Cleveland have the #2 pick in round two instead of Philly (via Miami)? Was there a MIA/CLE tie-break?
