Lowest runs scored through 26 games of Spring training. 9th worst runs allowed. This could be a record breaking season for the Fightins.
It would be tradition after all. Here's the 20 worst seasons of the modern era.Phillies own 6 of them. I guarantee a 7th one is going on there this year. The real question is can they catch the 2003 Tigers and reach that 120 loss plateau. Very doable.
It's not easy to lose 120. The
2003 Tigers fell short at 43-119 by winning five of their last six. They started the year going 3-20 in April and finished bottom of the league in both ERA+ and OPS+. They were 3-13 in extra inning games but somehow managed to finish 1 game over .500 in one run contests.
The Tigers had nobody anywhere as good as Hamels, Utley and Papelbon who are all on track to be HoVG guys. Dmitri Young was the Tigers' best player by far that year. All their SP stunk --they had three starters who lost at least 17 games and Franklyn German and Chris Mears tied for the team lead with 5 SV (the two of them combined for 2 SV for the rest of their careers)
