I know, I know, everyone sucks at fantasy booking... but my review of Elimination Chamber:

Women's Chamber match was great. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville looked new but not completely out of place. They both impressed me. After thinking about it, I liked giving Bayley the chance to stand up for herself and fight back after Sasha punked her; I originally thought Sasha's actions should have led to an immediate pin on Bayley but this version eventually warmed on me and I now think made the match better for it. My only change is that a Twisted Bliss off a pod should be game over. I guess that was a bit of a botch or not as smooth a transition into the Banks Statement because to me it looked like Alexa caught her flush with a super finisher.

I was really invested in Titus Worldwide winning the tag titles lol. I guess I'm over The Bar and Titus Worldwide is over with me. I was dreaming up huge things for TW, like trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to sign Rousey to the brand hehe. I would like to see TW expand and Titus become a huge hype man that steps in the ring when his clients need him. Let's keep it real, Titus is not the same caliber wrestler as anyone else in the ring for that match but man when he hit Clash I thought it was OVAH. ;D

Asuka-Nia was fine as is. Nia doesn't need the Women's title, but I don't know how to use her in the current state of the product.

Hardy-Wyatt was about as fine a wrestling match as Matt Hardy can provide. I thought it was a much better match than the crowd was giving it attention. Being honest though, I am not here to see Matt Hardy wrestle, but rather be a crazy person. The start of the match with the mind games had me rolling, but then it just proceeded to be a match and that bummed me out. I want the crazy. I want the vignettes. I wanted Hardy to transport Bray to House Hardy and have a match there. Oh well, I still have hope there's something there for the character if Bray becomes a disciple tonight.

Rousey contract signing was great. Bring on Rowdy Rousey. No changes, drunk Uncle Kurt's expressions were hilarious.

Men's Chamber match I have the most changes for, even though I thought it was a good match. I thought all 7 put in good work and I liked all the wrestling. Braun pinning everyone I did not approve of unless he was also pinning Roman. Even if it seems like I'm watching a different program than 90% of the thread, I hear you on the dissonance between Roman's character and his booking. I don't like it, it takes me out of it to watch "The Big Dog" have to overcome the odds time and time again. Big dogs are not underdogs. HOWEVER, they actually did a pretty good job last night of not making Roman seem too weak before he won. I just kinda groaned when I realized (pretty early on) that Braun was pinning everyone and Roman was pinning Braun. So how do I book it?

Give a small push to Elias by having him pin Cena and then Miz. It is important that Cena gets pinned first and by the newest member to the roster. I love this angle they are pushing with John, that of "Have I lost my touch? Am I growing too old for that record-setting 17th title run?" (Before you nerds laugh at "17" yeah I know, I get it but that's the narrative and I buy it.) Back to Elias, I would have liked to see him pushed just slightly with his offense. He could have cleaned up scraps, that would have been fine, but it could have been a nice showcase. Elias is my candidate for Battle Royals winner this WM. Miz is not hurt in the slightest by eating a clobbering from Braun and taking Elias' finisher into a pin.

Next, we have to rebuild Finn into being able to fight above his small stature. They did a great job with this I think; this is the portion of the match I really got into. This is the part where Braun can take over after finally recovering from a group assault. Murder Elias, take a bit of offense from Finn but finally catch him.

But Seth should have pinned Braun, not Roman. They could have kept everything the same with the match with this one change and I would have been totally satisfied. Seth could have used that pop imo.

Roman winning is fine. Let's have the third (fourth? fifth?) coronation and go from there, seeing what Papa Haitch can do as Vince cedes more control. I look forward to the match with Brock.

I think I want Shinsuke to beat AJ at Mania. I haven't fully staked my claim on that match.

I do know I want Asuka's first loss to be at Mania... After she pins Charlotte and Carmella KOs her with the briefcase to win the title for herself.

didn't she already cash in and lose? I haven't been watching much Smackdown.

Pretty sure they realized long ago that last year's MITB was one of the biggest disasters in history. The men's winner already lost it and they have no idea what to do with the women's winner.

I might be in the minority, but I like what Carmella has done with the MITB so far. The briefcase is like the most obnoxious accessory possible, this side of Ellsworth. And I think a fitting end would be Asuka winning the belt at WM, Carmella trying to do the "Seth Rollins Run-In" and Asuka destroy her with a single kick.

Anyone heard anything about a Cena Taker match?  Personally, I think this should have happened 7-8 years ago.  Now, Taker is too old and I don’t think Cena can carry the match.  I hope it doesn’t happen, but I’ve read rumors...

I heard a rumor that Cena is going to ask for a title match on Smackdown, get declined, and invade RAW with a new nWo faction (f/ Dolph, Ryder, Nikki).

Oh wait, that's my fan fiction.

I'm with you but I do expect it to happen.  Taker is such a WM attraction that they will wheel him out as long as he still wants to go.

So, I pretty much hated Elimination Chamber and was bored throughout everything that wasn't involving the women's division. So I'll talk about something I enjoyed, which was the ROH/NJPW shared show, Honor Rising.

This Bullet Club storyline is BY FAR the best storyline in wrestling right now, and I say that as someone totally into what is going on with Gargano in NXT. Like 10 different characters have interesting and differing motivations and beliefs and its outstanding. Cody Rhodes is the best heel in the world right now, everything about him is off putting in all the best kind of ways. Dare I say, he's almost Flair-like as a character right now. The best part is, he's kind of got a point about everything he says(Bucks being second fiddles, Hangman getting passed over, Omega ignoring leadership responsibilities) but he's such an unlikable jerk about it, that being right doesn't even matter. He gaslights everybody and then hides behind the people he's manipulated, its A+ work. The Omega-Cody Supercard of Honor match, should dwarf anything Mania puts out, by both quality of story and likely in-ring as well, Cody still isn't an elite(no pun intended) in-ring guy, but Omega is basically Midas at this point.

In the meantime, super excited for Young Bucks vs Golden Lovers, and Okada-Ospreay in the coming weeks.

If Takers hip replacement allows him to actually you know...walk fairly unhindered at this point, then I can live with Cena Taker. Last year against Roman was so hard to watch him just limp around all match.

Was Cena crying there?

Of course he “has a path to WM”. He’s going to main event WM until he’s eighty-freaking-five.  <_<

It is a solid story, but I just can’t take Cody Rhodes seriously no matter what he’s doing. The guy is lower midcard 4 life.

I’ll take AJ-Nakamura, Almas-Black and Gargano-Ciampa over Cody-Omega every day of the week without a blink.

Well, we certainly disagree on Cody. When I got back into wrestling(WWE in particular in 2011) there were 5 people who really stood out as people I instantly enjoyed watching. It was Punk, Bryan, Ziggler, Cody and AJ Lee. I've felt like Cody(and Dolph for that matter) were potential main event talents that just got pushed aside for the boring status quo guys like Orton and Kane. WWE missed the boat badly in my opinion.

Gargano-Ciampa is the only one of those matches with any story right now, and it'll almost certainly be Ciampa's first match in a year, if he's even ready by then. That said, I'm certainly looking forward to that too.

If we are just going by match quality, and not story, then I'm most looking forward to Okada-Ospreay.

I am a very sporadic watcher but he got my attention tonight. Maybe there was some “real” behind what he was saying. Loved it.
The reality in that promo is they've kept him off the mic for a minute and he's been practicing, then they finally give him something logical to say and we connect with it.

Still man, the vest.

Rumors of FOX buying the contract to Raw and Smackdown. Would likely lead to a 2-hour Raw on FOX and Smackdown moving to FS1.

Possibly looking for leverage in UFC negotiations or signaling they are out of that bidding.  That current contract is up at the end of this year and I thought the UFC wanted the new deal agreed to by now with whoever the partner will be.  Can't imagine FOX pushing for both.

That would be incredibly interesting. WWE on broadcast? Would honestly probably make the company even more G-rated, but can only get marginally worse at this point anyway.

Probably. WWE is locked in to USA Network until 2019.

WWE has the equivalent of a no-compete clause which bars their network or a sister network from showing other wrestling shows, including UFC/MMA.  The fact that Fox is courting WWE shows they are willing to dump the UFC if they can land the WWE.

Not surprising.  The top three names in UFC over the last few years have all gone to make their fortune elsewhere - Lesnar and Rousey to the WWE, Conor to boxing.

Strowman reportedly pulled from match with Miz at WM 34

Dave Meltzer indicated on this week's Wrestling Observer Radio show that Braun Strowman was pulled from the WrestleMania 34 singles match with WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz due to concern over the main event, Roman Reigns vs. WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Strowman was reportedly pulled from the singles match with The Miz because officials felt that it was important to have some sort of back-up plan for the main event, Reigns vs. Lesnar, in case damaging evidence against Reigns may come out of the investigation that filmmaker Jon Bravo is doing. We've noted how Reigns was implicated in a steroid ring by jailed steroids dealer Richard Rodriguez, along with actors Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel. Reigns has denied any accusations but Bravo noted Wednesday that his report on WWE is complete, and that he has evidence on a former WWE Legend placing more than $140,000 in orders with Wellness Fitness Nutrition, which was ran by Rodriguez. Bravo notes that the report will contain evidence on Reigns and other former & current WWE Superstars. Bravo's findings will be released soon.

No word yet on what might be planned for Strowman at WrestleMania but it could be some sort of throw-away match. Meltzer also speculated that Braun could end up facing Elias or Samoa Joe, if he's able to return. WWE could always add Strowman to the Reigns vs. Lesnar match to make it a Triple Threat but we have heard no rumors on that direction.
FWIW...

So they're gonna dangle the guy with the most heat aimlessly over wrestlemania with some indeterminate storyline, essentially killing all the momentum he has? Color me surprised, typical WWE. Good job VKM and Steph.

There is a precedent.  They kept Benoit on reserve for WM XIX in case Angle wasn't healthy enough to return against Brock.  They even ran Angle vs Brock on Smackdown about 3 weeks before WM to further the mystery.  Ultimately, Benoit got shoehorned into a triple-threat tag match,

PRO WRESTLERTAKES BAT TO FACE IN STUNT GONE WRONG... Breaks Eye Socket

Still think wrestling is fake?

Here's Impact wrestling star Eddie Edwards -- after he was bashed in the eye with a baseball bat in the ring ... which resulted in a REAL broken face.

Edwards was wrestling against Sami Callihan in Orlando -- when Sami was supposed to use a baseball bat to smash a folding chair down on Edwards.

But the bat ricocheted off the chair and accidentally struck Edwards over his right eye.

Edwards was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a broken orbital bone and a broken nose. There was A LOT of blood.

Impact Wrestling says doctors told Edwards he's lucky his vision wasn't permanently impaired as a result of the injury.

Edwards is currently recovering and Impact Wrestling reps say he's in good spirits.

As for Callihan, we're told he felt terrible about the accident and was very emotional about the situation behind the scenes.

Get well soon, bro.

I'm actually as excited for this mania as anyone I can recall:

AJ-Nakamura is a dream I hope they headline, will keep the smark crowd engaged late rather than the late lag.. which will then energize

Roman-Brock... LOVED the start of the build this week, I do love good worked shoot stuff and I can believe poeple ARE sick of Brock's sheeze

Cena-Taker... reaction to the tease alone on Monday shows you this will be a special one, I think Cena can guide him through it.

Asuka-Charlotte (presumably) should be as solid a women's match as they can put on

Not quite pumped for the Rousey stuff but I'm sure they'll build it and I'll be happy to see Angle back at mania.

Then you have something for Braun

This is probably the brightest things have looked in a while, in some respects.  Road Dogg probably needs to get out of the head writer role on Smackdown or they need to give him guys like Cole and every available NXT reenforcement since I think AJ will go Raw after mania and there will really be nothing to see.

I'm not sure of their contract status but I could see the Bucks or Omega in by Summerslam, NJPW will start to pick up steam with these cali shows.

That was a horrible botch.
