Rollins had a catastrophic knee injury. It probably took this long for the company to feel comfortable putting him back near the top, and it wouldn't surprise me if Monday was a test run to see how his knee holds up in a longer match. With Brock on his way out, the main event scene is going to be longer matches instead of the Brock 6 minute special. Balor got his long run in the Rumble. Rollins was Monday night. They already know Reigns can do it. Question will be how they roll Braun into it. 

 
Braun playing the bass guitar and singing was amazing last week. I like how they are giving him a personality instead of just making him some brooding monster.

It doesn't matter even if they did cause creative still has no clue how to build a wrestler, let alone a rivalry of any substance. 50/50 booking and letting 2 wrestlers supposed to be in a buildup get their hands on each other in actual matches week after week ain't how to do it.

Rumor is that they may be doing away with brand split PPVs...

In the old days, guys would run in on each other's matches, get them DQ'd, jump each other in the locker room, etc. Now, we can't be bother with all of that.

I remember the long 3 month build to Austin/Taker Summerslam 98 Highway to Hell the closest they got besides jumping each other was they were like in a tag match one week on raw against like kane/mankind. They got creative with keeping them involved together on screen but hands off in most cases.

Like Jim Cornette says, in the old days you took 2 guys, built them up, put them on a collision course, had them talk some s***, and then put them in a match.

Today nobody's talking s***, and the buildup to the match lasts 7 days instead of 90 because these guys face each other every week. It's entirely counterproductive.

That's why today's promos suck - Creative feeds them the lines, but the guys don't know how to deliver them.

The last really good build was Roman vs Brock. The Brock contract forces their hand but they (mostly Heyman) really made that feel like a prize fight.

Saw him wrestle in person once: SummerSlam 1999.  He was the opening match against D'Lo Brown for the European Title.  Jarrett came out to a mix of boos for him and wild cheers for Debra.  Jarrett got the win after Mark Henry turned on D'Lo.  

(Other matches from that card included a hardcore match between Al Snow and Big Boss Man that spilled out of the arena and into a bar across the street.  A urinal cake was used as a weapon in the bar bathroom.  Test defeated Shane McMahon, but not before Shane put Test through the Spanish announcers table with a phenomenal flying elbow from the top turnbuckle.  Billy Gunn told my group "MOVE!" while carrying the Rock because we were leaning over a railing he wanted to drop the Rock on.  And the three-way dance main event was Stone Cold, HHH, and Mankind with Jesse Ventura as the ref.

After the show, we happened to walk up the parking ramp with Terry Taylor, whom WWF fans might remember as "The Red Rooster".  He was working for WWF at the time, scouting talent and developing the undercard.  He started a conversation about the "Tag Team Turmoil" match, a gauntlet match that got a lot of undercard talent in the ring.  "I thought the Brood and the Hardys put on a great show.  You're gonna see a lot more of them.")

I saw the next PPV live, which was Unforgiven '99.  It's famous for the horrible Kennel from Hell match between Al Snow and Big Boss Man.  JJ was with Miss Kitty on that show and he beat Chyna in the Intercontinental title match after Debra turned on Jarrett and smashed him with the guitar.  Less than 2 months later, Jeff Jarrett jumped to WCW after Vince Russo jumped and apparently JR forgot to offer Jarrett a contract extension.  The show's only saving grace was the Six Pack Challenge, which had Triple H beat Big Show, The British Bulldog, Kane, Mankind and The Rock to win the vacant WWF title, with Stone Cold as special guest ref.

Who you guys got in the Chamber?

Roman - favorite with long-term history against Brock, going back to having his one-on-one opportunity stolen away at WM31. 
Cena - spent last few years lower on the card (Bray Wyatt, Rusev, did not wrestle, mixed tag) and has been putting guys over recently. I think he's a compelling pick...he needs one more title run. He has a lot of history with Brock. I think the crowd would get behind Cena more than Roman. He's my pick.
Braun - crowd is thirsty for him on top. It's like the complete inverse of Daniel Bryan. I have no idea where they go with him at Mania...maybe a reluctant tag team with someone to take on the Bar?
Rollins - looks 100% and has been working his butt off. Lacking a grudge for Mania, so put him in a worker's match (Finn, Miz, or both?)
Balor - there's a non-zero chance he can win because he has the Demon and the Good Brothers. Heyman has put him over before. WWE doesn't have a ton of time left to put him on top. 
Miz - putting him against Balor at Mania with their extras on the outside seems like an easy play and a good spot for both.
Elias - working the edges of the main event has really worked for him. Easy to heat him up down the road if they want. 

I'll go with Cena getting the win. Roman vs Braun vs Rollins for the #1 contender spot at Mania. Balor vs Miz for IC title. Elias in a singing/celebrity spot (unless they can get Jericho to come in...that'd be perfect). 

I really do not want to see Cena vs Taker. Undertaker needs to stay retired after last year's send off.

I'm guessing Cena for one last run at Wrestlemania or Stroman as he's everyone's favorite in this match. If I had to lean someone I'd say Cena because we've already seen Lesnar v Stroman recently on multiple PPVs so not seeing how this one would be "special"

Roman and Cena -  :X  Given them a program together and let everyone take their pee breaks here.

Rollins - if Jason Jordan were healthy, this would be the place for them to mix it up as a result of JJ's costing them the tag belts and his overall snot-faced kid routine. But, he's not. 

Balor - he was the first Universal champ, so putting him in an IC title match doesn't seem like a good fit right now. If he was good enough to hold the top strap, he still good enough today. The counterpoint to him vs. Brock would work well. What would also work here is for him to work the Demon persona against Broken Matt Hardy. Hmmm...

Miz - At this point, Miz is pulling a good match from anyone and can work a program with just about anyone in his size range. It would be interesting to see an Elias - Miz match for the IC belt. The strap needs defended on its own; this isn't Hulk-Warrior where you could do title vs. title. I can't see anyone buying Miz-Brock. Miz is that upper card chicken bleep heel who is over and can work.

Elias - While this gimmick is working, I don't believe he's ready for a Universal title chase. However, like I just alluded to, a program with Miz might prove the testing ground to see if he can take the next step. In this case, if Elias is ready, the IC strap goes back to being used to see if he can handle the rigors of being a champion.

Braun - Given VKM's hard-on for big guys, and with previous unfinished business between the two, I can see Lesnar-Strowman as the WM main event. In fact, Braun would be my pick to win this. You could literally have fans rooting for either one and not have the typical boo the heel/cheer the face dynamic that WWE seems to prefer.

 
I'll take Cena. Roman will take it from him at WM and will be the official passing of the company torch. Roman locked in as WWE's face of the company for the next decade at least. God help us all.

 
Betting on Roman, hoping for Rollins. 

(Would be ok with Balor, Braun, or Elias also.  I don't want my memories of Lesnar-Cena from SS2014 washed away.  And I like Miz a lot but Lesnar-Miz does nothing for me).

Roman is going over, no doubt. No way will Roman-Brock match the big fight feel of their first fight. 

 
I'm 100% hoping for Lesnar-Rollins, and have been for like 3 years. I'd be ok with Lesnar-Balor too, but that seems less likely. 

I think a Strowman-Cena match at Mania could be fun. As far as I know they've never faced one another, and that could add a very sizable notch to Braun's belt to beat Cena. That sounds much better than any Cena-Taker match could be.

I don't know where that would leave Reigns, so its probably not happening.

Very pumped for the women's chamber match. Personally, I'm really hoping for a title change there. Alexa hasn't had a single notable match in her title reign, despite facing all the people who had notable matches against one another. I mean, unless they are building to Alexa getting squashed at Mania by Asuka or Rousey, what is the point in her retaining?

I'd like to see Bayley or Sasha take it here. Either is fine, as long as it leads to Sasha going heel, and the two of them feuding. Maybe Bayley wins by cheating by accident, and Sasha snaps after the match, or Sasha wins, and rubs it in Bayley's face. Something like that. Probably unlikely, though. I'm still hoping that Asuka goes after Charlotte's title and we can potentially get 2 great women's matches on the Mania card.

Hardy-Wyatt either needs to get weird or go away.

Hey now, that is clearly the problem of the 70 year old man in charge, not the crowd. 

I mean, you basically just described the Omega-Jericho feud. and that was in the olden days of 8 weeks ago, and fans loved every minute of it.

Roman MUST turn heel to add juice to this WM. 

A Roman/Nia/Usos heel stable should run Raw for the next year. 

 
Any predictions/desires for Elimination Chamber tonight?

 I think/hope Rollins wins.  It seems like the marathon Rollins had on RAW was a way to begin the sell the match against Lesnar.  

 
I wonder if Roman could get the Rousey tag spot since it doesn't sound like Rock will come in. It'll be a high profile spot...maybe the highest with mainstream coverage.

I still think Roman. I think anything different may indicate Vince ceding a bit more control to HHH while Vince tends to getting the XFL in order.
