Say I tuned out from wrestling after RAW won the Monday Night Wars and WM:X-7 - Wikipedia the best way to fill in the gaps of what has happened to the WWE since? There a condensed "story of wrestling" out there somewhere? I'm "up to speed" with everything that has happened since SummerSlam this year, just trying to fill in the 14 years I've not watched.

Wrestling is a show that never ends. Just pick it back up whenever you want to...there are plenty of recaps built into each weekly show (especially through commentary) that will give you all you need to know about the current story lines.

Yeah I get that, and I'm caught up on the current events. I'm looking for all the meat (bad and good alike) in between just to kind of see the rise (or fall) of the folks I'm watching now.
Example: I know nothing about John Cena's rise outside of a)he does Make A Wish b)kids love him c)"AND HIS NAME IS JOHHHHHN CENA". Know nothing about Daniel Bryan even if he is injured atm, nothing about the Shield storyline, nothing about why HHH is the next Vince.

So basically you missed the entire John Cena era. I'm guessing one of his DVDs would bring you completely "up to speed".

Cena changed his finisher from the FU to the attitude adjustment to fit the PG era. Started having better matches and became the company face. Plus the kids love him
Triple H married Steph had a Evolution and reunion and 12 or so DX reunions. Beat up on a bunch of WCW has beens and held the title a lot in the really 2000s. Became the heir apparent when Shane decided he wanted to do something else
Goldberg fought lesnar in the worst match ever
Smackdown and Raw became two separate brands with drafts and own champions and split pay per views
Jericho was first undisputed champion
Bischoff joined WEE
Jeff hardy had a run
Had a lame NWO reunion
Hogan fought the Rock
Austin retired and was the raw sheriff for a bit
Rock made some movies and comes back occasionally
Shawn Michaels was the best thing going from 2001 until he retired
JBL had a run
The fans loved Bryan plus he was the best in ring worker since Michaels. Yes yes yes no no no
Sting joined WWE to go 0-2 in singles
The Shield was a group from NXT started at survivor series 2013 and just beat people up from there
Mainly crappy writing and weird story lines is what you missed
I'm all over the place but that's off the top of my head

CM Punk. I started watching again during the Summer of Punk and was interested until just after this past Wrestlemania. WWE Network is your friend.
Also wanna add Eddie Guerrero's run as champion. It was too short, as was his life. And Edge had a very nice run there too.

All these injuries may end up becoming a blessing for WWE... forced to use these guys in big spots. Yea it may not be amazing at first but they may find some gems. Im guessing nobody figured Daniel Bryan would be as popular as he was.RBM said:

Once they finally upload 2011 Raw episodes I'll catch up from CM Punk forward. Think I'll just kind of meander my way from the very beginning, as I am a young'n that was hooked by the Monday Night Wars, and thought it was hilarious that my mom, aunt, and grandmother went to wrestling events and liked it.
I think I'll try and learn about booking and ring work and heel/face turns and stuff along the way instead of just popcorn-casualing it.
Once they finally upload 2011 Raw episodes I'll catch up from CM Punk forward. Just watch the CM Punk documentary on the network. It covers the majority of his career...you'll see how good he was while he also comes off as a complete #####. It's accurate.

Foley on Austin was entertaining, but pretty much what you would expect from the both of them regarding this issue. They know something needs fixed, but they don't know the answer.
Listen for the Vader stories, and my favorite Foley one-liner where he asks HHH the difference between the Rock and Austin.

all of the injured guys...Lesnar taking one of his breaks...Taker, Kane, and Big Show off TV...it's a great chance for the Divas to pick up more time. Nice to see Charlotte showing some character on RAW.

Heard this week that Sasha spends a ton of time with The New Day. Could be an interesting grouping down the road. She really needs to separate from B.A.D.

I'm shocked Dutt is only 33.Sonjay Dutt has surfaced...as holder of Jeff Jarrett's GFW secondary title. The name of the title? The Nex*Gen title! Dutt is like 32 years old; nothing says next generation wrestler like a 32 yeat old man.
Will surprise people but the guy he beat (PJ Black/Justin Gabriel) is even older (almost 35). Reportedly they had to take the belt off him because he signed with Lucha

Read the RAW results (...like I'd sit through the garbage they're presenting right now) and saw they're breaking up ADR and Zeb. 
Whose idea was to have these 2 paired together? Never thought they'd be able to top Ziggler/Lana for a worse pairing anytime soon........they did a great job of proving me wrong.
Short of Ricardo Rodriguez introing him, ADR don't need a mouthpiece.

The timing is certainly a little late since Survivor Series is over, but I like all of the groups of 4 that were set up last night. The Wyatts showing up to confront the League of Nations was an interesting twist...but, yeah, the need to start picking up some wins. They could make Sunday an elimination style match so the Wyatts can sweep and pick up a little momentum.
Roman has to get screwed one more time at TLC and get one more shot at Rumble, right? I know WWE likes to crown their guys at Mania, but I don't think putting him in the Rumble is the way to go...have him carry the belt in against the Rumble winner (John Cena).

The ending last night was so, so cringe worthy. Roman Reigns cannot talk or deliver a promo like that. You can tell some writers gave him a script that included the stupid tater tots line. After it got a chuckle and chant out of the crowd, I think he thought he was a comedian because he said it another 75 times. He just doesn't have "it" when it comes to talking. He should follow the Lesnar path, get a mouth piece and only speak on occasion. Please don't ever try to be funny again Roman.

Reigns has no charisma on the mic. Even if he went off script, I don't think he'd know what to do/say. Take the bad joke he wouldn't let die last night as an example. He got a small pop, so he re-used it until it was dead.
I thought New Day with their new marketing unicorn horn headband gimmick was fantastic! Way to embrace this group and get them out there. Even as a heel group, they are the most entertaining faction on WWE today. I'll fast forward most of Raw, but I'll always stop when I see New Day on the screen.

Looks like I didn't miss much. I will actually try to catch the next RAW, as I anticipate missing the 3 after that due to travel/holidays/etc and if I don't catch live, I'm 95% more likely to read the results than to shoehorn a DVR into my schedule.

With Rollins out, Owens is easily the best worker right now. Like to see him hold the IC strap until WM, where he can drop it to Sammy in what would be awesome. And then after mania he goes right up to the main event and the big belt.
I still think Wyatt is the best all around guy, but what they've done to him is criminal.

They might as well they had the script sheets right in front of them. Zero passion, zero believably in the promo. For the first time in years, Sheamus actually was the one that looked 'better'

I have grown from disappointed to concerned to apathetic about the product this past year.
I am not the booker you guys are but I feel there was one angle that might help them get out of this funk, had they not screwed up the Wyatt family.
I would have continued to make the Wyatts monsters
Have the Wyatts in a running program with Ambrose and Reigns with a 3rd member joining Ambrose and Reigns
Each time a new 3rd member joins, he gets pinned (have it be a Neville/Cesaro/Ziggler etc)
When all looks lost for Reigns and Ambrose, have Rolins return to reform the Shield. Let the Shield run as faces and then decide where to go from there...

I like the story about the two kids thrown out for dropping a ninja on Reigns. The Instagram post refers to this as the "racist n-word." Are there any words that aren't racist referred to as the n-word? Two kids thrown out for calling Reigns nice? Two kids tossed after stating Reigns is a nknucklehead? A notverygoodperformer? That's probably the worst.
