Looks like all EPL teams have a shot at making it through. The question is... which one of them will meet up in the semis?

ManU has the thoughest road, as they need to score at home. Inter is NOT a bad team at all, and lord knows the Italians can play clamp down.

Barça should take care of business and win 2-1 over Lyon. Porto - Atlético will be a good match. Atleti are on a high, and if they play like they did against Real, they can win. It won't be easy, but they have the firepower to score those away goals.

Arsenal will have to be strong on D against Roma in Rome. That should be another good match.

GOD I LOVE THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

oof 7-1 now for Bayern. Obviously they weren't going to show up after being down 5-1, but this is embarassing.

Liverpool making me look bad with my Real bet. Luckily, I had a bunch of overs today too

And Drogba clinches the tie for the Blues.
I really don't like that guy.BTW, is Munich really this good, or is Sporting really this bad?
I think Munich is the definition of one of those teams that are great when things are going their way, but that lack a lot of steel. Other than ManU and MAYBE a completely healthy Arsenal, I can't think of a team with more attacking talent than Munich. Klose, Toni, Ribery, Podolski, Altintop, Schweinsteiger. Heck Ze Roberto and Van Bommel are no slouches either. If they're allowed to play, they're going to score goals.

this is definitely a negative of DST. had to leave at halftime to go to work. ugh.
Europe is only 1 week behind the US in DST time change, so this is the only week where London is 4 hours ahead of New York (or Madrid is only 8 hours ahead of San Francisco, which is more important to me).

good to know. to be honest, didn't even know if europe or the rest of the world observed DST.

Let's go Liverpool.
When you walk through a stormhold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark.

At the end of a storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,

Walk on through the rain,

Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

this was my high school graduation song. i had never heard it before that day. now, i hear it a few times a month it seems on FSC.

The bolded were all out with injuries yesterday too.

If not for Casillas, Real could have gone down like Sporting yesterday. I made it home and got to watch most of the game and Torres was after it early. Gerrard was incredible as well. Hell the entire team was scary good. I thought for sure Torres was going to have a goal on that sick turn four minutes in, but Iker was there. Then again Iker stopped Gerrard's rediculous lunge on the Torres cross. And again, Iker made an incredibly athletic save on Mascherano's 25 yard effort. Real probably didn't deserve the Heinze PK, but of not for the beyond World Class performance from Casillas they would have been down 3-0 in the first twenty minutes.

Gerrard's second goal was just nuts.

;)Liverpool looked like a real well-oiled machine with Gerrard back and you're right: Casillas stood on his head at times.I'm feeling REAL confident about them again.

It was almost criminal not to get a goal off of such a sweet turn.

Second night of the Carolina Challenge Cup is tonight locally.

This past Saturday it was Real Salt Lake beating DC United 3-0 and Toronto FC beating Charleston Battery 2-1

Tonight DC v Toronto and RSL v Charleston.

This Saturday RSL v Toronto and DC v Charleston.

 Preseason soccer

Iker Casillas is by far my favorite Real Madrid player. I'm glad you guys got to see what I've seen for a number of years. He's clearly the class in Spain. I'm always torn though, as I want him to do well, but I want Real to lose.

Big games all around today.

Also, why can't the semifinals of the CL coincide with the first round of March Madness? How many people would be "sick" that day?

Ugh... Folán won't start against Porto. Sinama-Pongolle will start in his place. He's probably 1/2 the player of Forlán. I have zero idea why Resino would make this move. It might have to do with Forlán playing balls-out against Real last Saturday. I think that Forlán will get the call early in the 2nd half, especially if Atlético hasn't scored by then.

Heitinga isn't starting either... Pablo in his place. I'm cool with that, as Heitinga has been very mistake prone at the back (but has scored more than I thought). Pablo and Leo Franco are definitely on the same page. No mistakes from Perea, Pablo, Ujfalusi and Antonio López today. Put the clamp on Lisandro, who's been on fire in the CL (16 goals).

Resino said that this is the most important game for him and for the club this year.

¡Aupa Atleti! ¡VAMOS!

Roma makes it 1-1 aggregate...I didn't see it, it took me like 30 mins to find a link...apparently awful defending from Arsenal.

Can anyone confirm that the ESPN2 feed is not coming in? The entire channel is a black screen, but I'm pretty sure it's not my cable.

I think we're gonna see a ManU - Barça final here boys.
Yeah, I said this to myself like 10 minutes ago. I can't see how one of those two teams doesn't win....they could get an unlucky draw and have to face each other sooner, but I'll be shocked if one of these two doesn't win it.

I think Fergie wants the "dream season" or quintuple or whatever. If he wins that, what's left?

Arsenal down 1-0 from nearly the start.... gonna be tough to get that away goal in Rome. Inter is hurting too having to score at Old Trafford.

Arsenal look inconsistent, from the 35 minutes I've seen. I finally got a good link in the 10th, right after Roma scored. There are stretches of play where Roma dominate, and then stretches where Arsenal dominate.van Persie looks like he can't be bothered out there, but Bendtner is playing a phenomenal game right now, IMO. Also, Alumnia made at least 2 game-saving stops thus far.To be honest, neither team looks like they have a real menacing attack right now. IMO it'll come down to a quick break, set piece, or PK to end it before ET. I don't see one team sustaining a 5-10 minute attack and putting one in, based on the play in the 1st half.

This GD internet connection at work is just too slow.

Ridiculous that I can´t watch live Champion's League matches at my desk. Why do you think I have dual monitors?

I'm going to a pub for both of the semifinal matches. The ONE other soccer fan here at work said that if Chelski meet up with Liverpool in the semi, he's calling out sick.

Barca-Lyon looks pretty damn exciting though. Lyon need a 4-4 draw to advance, so they're pouring like 8 men forward....it's a back and forth match with both teams attacking like crazy....I'm looking forward to the ESPN Classic replay of it.

for shame internet feed... for shame

FINALLY Forlán enters the game... for Maxi! Abel chosing to go to a 4-3-3 or something similar. ¡Marca Atelti, marca!

That game must be end-to-end with minimal tactics, just trying to out hustle / out skill your opponent to create as many chances as possible. Fun to watch.

BTW, the ESPN2 feed has been pitch black with nothing on the screen for about a full hour now after a really choppy, silent, and unwatchable first 30 minutes. I hope some of you United-ites didn't tape the game with the intent to watch it later...
