Liverpool going into the crapper.
Yeah, they're done. A 2-nil loss to a team fighting to even stay in the Premiership is pathetic beyond words.Rafi needs to go.
If Rafa goes do you think the snap up Mourinho? He wants back to the EPL and Liverpool has the talent. I would rather coach Inter, but he is the special one.I'm a fan of Rafa but Liverpool is underperforming IMO. They still have a shot at the Champions league.
I'm still a novice when it comes to the world of soccer, so I wouldn't know who Mourinho is. With Rafi running off Keane and just everything else I've heard about the guy, I don't think he's that good and it seems like he's a bit of a tool.
Mourinho is the :moneybag: :moneybag: manager for Inter Milan in Italy. He used to manage Chelsea...he's partially credited with bringing them to their recent prominence in English football. He used to manage Porto. They had some feuds with him and he left a few years ago....they replaced him with ####ty Avram Grant, then Big Phil Scolari, then Guus Hiddink...

Keane should have never been at Liverpool. It was a bad decision all the way around. They have a stellar, but not deep squad. If Torres, Gerrard, mascherano, etc., can stay healthy they are fine for the Champions. ManU has Ronaldo and it is no surprise their season turned up a couple of notches when he came back. One thing you will learn is that pretty much every coach is a tool. It's part of the job. Even the jeebus, Sir Alex is a doosh. If you don't win tons, you are out. You have to have a cocky attitude to walk into that job.

:goodposting: (ok, it's the closest thing to a yellow card we have in here)Bayern is stinking up 2009 so far. Sure they pulled the 5-0 drubbing of Sporting this past week, but since the Bundesliga started their second half of the season they've looked awful. In 5 league matches they have 1 win, 1 draw and 3 losses. Four points in 6 matches will not win you the title.

On this note, one guy that has caught my eye when watching Liverpool is Yossi Benayoun. Seems like he's always swarming around the ball. He also was the only goal scorer for Liverpool against Madrid.
Benayoun is consistent.I :blackdot: Ryan Babel
Are you blind? Babel has been diabolical this season. All pace and no intelligence or finesse.

Babel is to Liverpool as Nani is to United. And frankly neither is worth much right now, imo.Liverpool is loaded with consistent, yet unspectacular players. I really don't think they are that stellar. In my eyes, they are at best, third best in the EPL. United and Chelsea are both more talented. Aston Villa is probably just as good as them right now. I know a lot of you saw them get caught up by Stoke last weekend, but the fact is, they have been without their best defender/captain for weeks now. Carew is just coming back off injury. Villa has a very solid squad. And a fully healthy Arsenal team is more talented than Liverpool...but not as good a side. I know the gunner fans haven't been high on Denillson this year, but Vela is overwhelmed at this level, and I don't get the love for Nasri. He is a decent player, but goes way too long uninvolved in the play. Not a fan.

Watched AC Milan get beat yet again this weekend, and it appears that this would be the second to last game for Beckham there. I think AC Milan is resigned to the fact they are not going to come close to catching Inter, especially with Kaka out, and they are not going to pay more than the $3 million offered for a 34 year old midfielder. I don't blame them. Beckham is a really nice player and would fit in well at Milan, but no reason to spend heaps on a player if it isn't going to strongly benefit you. I think the Galaxy can thank the injury gods that Kaka got hurt, as that would have made a world of difference in the season....actually Milan has been without Svenchenko (sp) for a good bit of time too now that I think about it.

Arsenal looked much better yesterday although West Brom doesn't much resemble a top of the table opponent. Great game by Bendtner and solid outing by Arshavin. The midfield play of Denilson/Song and Diaby was mediocre at best, but that is unfortunately what I have come to expect from Arsenal this season. Djourou was very shaky at the back and Song was not much better when he moved back due to a Toure injury. Oh yah, and Eboue was his typical worthless self. Actually, he made a few decent runs, but he counterbalanced that by being the reason that West Brom got their 1 goal. I guess nobody told him that when you are part of a wall, you aren't supposed to be doing jumping jacks(at about 2minutes into West Brom v. Arsenal Highlight Clip). Anyway, as the injuries mount, I am starting to wonder if they will even hold off Everton for the 5th spot(although they have picked up some key knocks of their own).

Yesterday watched Chelsea/Pompey in the slop. Chelsea got lucky to take all three points, Cech had to make two awesome saves from point blank, and Chelsea's offense was unimaginative and very tame. I guess you could blame some of it on conditions, but geez, only Lampard seemed to make anything. Drogba scored the only goal, a nice shot, and if I heard correctly, only his second goal in the premiership this year?? And Ballack has zero?? Oh, Quaresma actually looked good when he came in late.

Keane with a goal and an assist in the first half for Spurs. I'm glad Rafa couldn't find a way to use him this year.

Watching United now, and they are not looking all that great to be honest. It may be the heavy schedule catching up with them, but Newcastle is really taking it to them. Hopefully we can get all three in this one and keep a commanding lead coming down the stretch :kicksrock:

Barça 0-0 against Mallorca (in Camp Nou) 16th min for the Copa del Rey semifinal. The winner will play Athletic (de Bilbao) in the final after they thrashed Sevilla 3-0. Valdés is on the bench along with Eto'o and Messi. Watch for the latter two to come on if it remains tied through halftime.

4-2 final. What an exciting second half. It was 0-0 at the half. Leverkusen jumped out 3-0 with goals in minutes 54, 61 and 70. Bayern struck back with goals in 72 and 74 but couldn't get past that. Leverkusen closed with another goal at 90+2.

Hull City with a HUGE win @ Fulham in the 90th minute.

Will be a very interesting relegation battle coming down the stretch, with one (or more) of Newcastle, Portsmouth, Blackburn very likely to be sent down. Tottenham has given themselves a bit of breathing room, with a 4-0 victory today.

Aston Villa was truly pathetic today against a mediocre Man City team. CL berth on the line, you have to show something here AV!!!

Becks ponies up $3mil from his own pocket to stay in Milan, but still ends up with a "time-share" deal of sorts with the Galaxy. Capello reportedly told him he would be dropped from the England team if he didn't play in Europe. Good for MLS to get some cash, but a bit of a slap in the face as well for Capello to take this stance and to see a superstar reach so deeply into his own pocket just so he could stay in Italy.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...EMC-Bltn=9FMBBA

here's the strange part:

Under the terms of the new arrangement, Beckham will stay in Milan until the end of the Serie A season in May, then be available for England’s matches against Kazakhstan and Andorra before returning to Los Angeles. He will be able to train, but not play for the MLS club until the opening of the international transfer window on July 15, after which he will complete the MLS season with the Galaxy. He will then be loaned back to Milan until the end of the 2009-10 season.

I think its a black eye for MLS when the england coach says Beckham can't play for England if he stays in the MLS. We know the competition here is well below the level of play in Europe, but something like this just really puts a spotlight on the extent of the gap. I also think its telling that he so badly wants to stay in Italy, that he is paying $3mil from his own pesonal funds to get the deal done. That strikes me as unprecedented.

With Walcott coming back this weekend, and Fabregas in a couple weeks, I think we'll actually be in a good position heading into the end of the season. Both should be fresh, and will lead to the end of the goal drought. If we can keep Toure and Gallas healthy, our defense is good enough, though I still hate Almunia. He makes some great, spectacular saves, but lets in too many easy ones. I wish we still had a game vs. Villa, as then I would be willing to guarantee a CL birth next year. Either way, I think we've got a good shot, but need to capitalize on their recent run of form. I see no chance of Everton passing us, and I think that the 4th spot in the CL will come down to the wire, and I just don't trust that Villa can handle the pressure. They do have the advantage of not having any other comps to worry about. In a lot of ways, Roma knocking us out of the CL may be the best thing for us. That said, I'm still pulling for us to stay in the competition, and allow Cesc and Theo to do their thing in the competition. Though, I'm sure we'll draw Barca or United in the Quarters. That's just how we roll.

I hope you are right. As for the CL, Arsenal v. Barca would be something that I would love to see... regardless of the outcome.

It would be a beautiful game, that's for sure.Even knowing they'd most likely knock us out, I think I'd rather face them in the Quarters or the Semi's, as opposed to the final. A 2 legged tie with them would be the most magnificent thing ever.

If Arsenal gets past Roma they have a chance to make some real noise. They will have Eduardo, Fabregas, Rosicky, and Walcot all healthy for the next round (won't they?). As both a Barca fan and an Arsenal fan I hope they don't draw each other.

Watched Chelsea - Coventry City today.

Wasn't much in it...Coventry played hard but they were just outmatched. I was really really impressed with Aron Gunnarsson though...I didn't know much about him, but I knew he was a younger player...he's 19 from Iceland, and played great in the midfield for Coventry.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a move to a Premiership side next year....he's going to be pretty damn good, I'm thinking.

It was a real battle of a Derbi today in the Bernabéu, which ended 1-1. Atlético had a fine game with numerous chances for a game winner in the second half. Both Kun and Forlán played excellently, and for once, the defense didn't let down too much.

This leaves Real 6 points back from Barça, and Atlético is 5 points back from the 4th place (and final CL spot). This was the team that everyone thought Atlético could be going into this season when some were saying they were dark horses to win La Liga. They haven't shown anything close to that potential until today IMO.

Combined with last week's win over Barça, this makes a GREAT run and show of confidence for the team that's been lacking in that dept. They could definitely make a run at a CL spot, and I STILL firmly believe they have what it takes to go into Porto and get a win.

Glad to see any team end Real's win streak, even Atleti. Barcelona definitely needed a weekend like this one to lessen the tension a bit. Hopefully they take care of business in the CL this week.

Let's go Liverpool.
When you walk through a stormhold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark.

At the end of a storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,

Walk on through the rain,

Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

I would have to agree that it is a bit of a black eye for MLS here. The whole Becks saga has driven me mad since he went over on loan. The deadline by Garber for the negotiations coming and going. Then the deal getting done. From the time that Becks went to LA I never really quite liked it. Sure he sold tickets and maybe the media covered the circus. In my opinion thought it did nothing for American soccer on the national or international stage. I love MLS and the fact that we have a domestic league for our players. The quality is getting better but we have to avoid these situations where an international superstar comes in for a season and then heads off or just retires after half ***ing it around.
