Beckham press conference on ESPN right now.

This will be mocked in a few years...it will be impossible for the product to match the hype.
I sadly agree. Too much hype. I am stuck in work, can someone give a play by play of the press conference?
They're just kinda thanking people who made it all happen. Investment groups, companies, etc. Beckham's gonna address the mic right now.
Oh man....sappy rock music playing with confetti while Beckham holds up his jersey. This is awful.
:lmao:   :lmao: :lmao:Tasker, did you see where Ferguson said that Arsenal will be better without Henry?

ETA that Skip Bayless should be shot in the face.
I read that this morning. If they had made a move to sign a striker like Torres, Babel or even Huntelaar, I would at least have been ok. Henry missed a lot of action his last two seasons, and the team still did decent....even when van Persie was out last year as well. I think they'll finish top 4, but I'm guessing 4th....well behind Liverpool in 3rd.
Forgive my excitement, but I can't wait to see what the Reds look like this year with Torres and Babel (in addition to Voronin and Benayoun). So many years of dealing with the Fowlers, Bellamys, and Cisses of the world for strikers- guys who aren't that talented but overperform (former cases) or petulant #######s who disappear for games on end (latter case). Torres and Kuyt/Voronin really have the potential to stretch a defense.I haven't been impressed with what Chelski has done in the offseason. I'm naively optimistic that the Reds can challenge ManU for the title. Of course, Rafa is claiming that such spending doesn't guarantee success, but if he spends that money and doesn't get results for it, the Kop will be plenty unhappy.
Can someone tell me about Babel? I saw the Torres signing, and thought that was a great fit. Bellamy going to West Ham should be good for both clubs, imo. I've never seen Babel play.....and in lining up next year's EPL....I think Liverpool could very well challenge for the title.I think Chelsea should be solid next year, and of course ManU.

Here's a few
. Good ball skills, ability to finish, and he is stupid fast. Van Basten and others have claimed he has the talent to become the next Henry. He was courted by Arsenal and Newcastle in the mid-season transfer window, but they couldn't put a deal together (Ajax wanted a lot to let him go, for good reason). He was MOTM as the Netherlands beat Serbia to retain their U-21 Euro title.I'm admittedly biased, but I think that Rafa and the Americans' checkbook have totally reinvigorated this team's attack. If they stay healthy, I think this team will score a lot of goals and has a legitimate chance to take the title from ManU.

ok I am getting way ahead of myself by why not?

I may be mistaken, but I don't think the US has ever made the finals of a non Gold Cup Fifa tournament before.

We made the World Cup semis back in the 30's.

We made the Copa America semis back in 1995

We made the semis with the Donovan/DMB/Convey/Gooch U17 team

I can't think of any others....

we should have done more with that break out. We are going to get a few of those as long as we hold on to the lead and we have to bury at least one of them

what a waste of a great half
Yep - the U.S. should have done more with the chances. Seitz has been Austria's best attacker so far. More work to be done.COME ON USA!
well I guess it is the quarter finals so it shouldn't be easy, but I feel like we should have been up by at least 2 in that half. The US needs to play the same way, and they should win assuming Seitz wakes up and realizes that the game actually started and stop giving up rebounds. Had Perk looked better in the last game I would be calling for a sub right now.

Not very good defense there - one man attack against three guys gets an easy shot on goal. Nice save on the line by Sturgis.

Edit: And then the ref gives Sturgis a joke yellow - ever heard of diving ref?

End of regular (and stoppage) time.

Going to extra time.

Rogers looks done and the US hasn't used a substitution yet.
