Official US Women's soccer thread: ***Update- US Legend, Tobin Heath to retire. (8 Viewers)

USWNT friendly tonight vs South Korea. 2nd game for Emma Hayes.
16yo debutante Yohannes scored in a 3-0 win tonight.

They beat SK 4-0 a couple nights ago for Hayes opening win.

I don't know anything about SKs women's team, but can't argue with 7-0 over two legs for a team that feels like has been struggling to score.

I didn't watch but some who did feel like the USWNT is doing better without the older players, starting to gel and show the energy previous teams had.

Quest for Gold continues today against Australia. One hour to go, this current iteration is looking GOOD. I'm convinced Sophia Smith is the best female soccer player playing today, but I'm biased as she plays for our Thorns. Her balance, speed and ability to find the net are otherworldly and she should be a mainstay of this team for a while. Swanson and Rodman round out a potent attack in a new era for US Women Soccer.

If you are - like me - television challenged to find Olympic coverage of the sports you care about, this game will be on E!, for reasons I'll never quite understand. Get your popcorn ready, I think the USA wins by 2 goals or more.

I'd love to see one of those passing network maps for the USWNT. Seems like the front three don't connect with each other at all, which makes it even harder to break down stubborn bus-parkers.

Girma has been a half step slow so far. Perhaps the heavy workload she's had in this tournament is getting to her. Whenever I see a Brazilian get to face up against any American defender right now, it makes me pretty nervous. Glad to get to halftime without being down given how much Brazil has dictated things.

Davidson also looks really tired and spent back there. Emma's going to have to go to the bench early I think, although I have little knowledge of this team's depth outside of Lavelle.

Man they are riding their luck. Slow of foot and of thought, can't keep the ball when they get it -- the midfield has been basically useless and the front three have barely seen the ball.

Not sure who else can hold and pass the ball, but whoever it is needs to come on with Lavelle to try and get a grip on the game. Horan is a passenger yet again.

And I'm not sure how to really describe it, but Girma has that sort of languid, controlled movement of a great CB. Those types of defenders (Dooley and Pope for the US, Hierro, van Dijk, etc) have always been a favorite of mine and she reminds me of them.

Horan should have done so much better with that. Had plenty of time and played it straight to a Brazilian.

Edit: Then overhits that through ball to Rodman.

If I took a drink every time Julie talked about the US’s tired legs or the "unfair" schedule, I’d be hammered by now.
