Imagine how things have gone that Agyemang commands a higher transfer fee than Gio............ :sadbanana:
Like one fifth of Johnny's. My mind is officially broken.
Both crazy, but some potential movement for Gio is a good thing regardless. Hopefully he can restart at Parma and get back in favor.
Agreed. His days at Dortmund are clearly done...*operation next* needs to happen immediately. Fwiw, just saw that the links to LAFC were denied by LA.

mid table Serie A feels just about right for the combination of good competition and a chance at minutes.

While he is still young, this feels like almost last chance saloon for our hopes of him being a top tier player. He will likely always be a pro no matter what happens at the next stop but if he is to achieve even 80% of what we once thought, it has to start at the next stop.

Agreed. Despite being still young its now or never. Although it feels like he's been around forever. And if he can get it together he provides something the USMNT is missing, DEPTH. More specifically, Impact depth and competition for spots.

Sad thats all were hoping for at this point.

He was going to be a side by side world elite player with CP. Now were just hoping he can get some minutes ANYWHERE.

To be fair, we are just managing expectations. We know he has the talent. But he needs to get on the pitch and get his mind right. As good as Tillman has looked, Gio is a higher talent.
IF he can, he might force his way back into the side. And that is good for everyone. More talent and in form, more competition for spots, more focus and fight. But baby steps right?

And of course, "Its the hope that kills you"

I saw that and laughed. I love him and signed him twice, won't make that mistake again!

Gio Reyna gets €6m chance to save his career

Not really much here, just confirming he may get a chance to move and should play. Somewhat interesting is this "But whether the Italian club is the best fit for the USMNT star is still up for debate. According to SciSports, Parma scores a 68 out of 100 on Club Fit, a rating based on factors like player development, minutes, tactics, and formation. Reyna would likely get regular playing time at Parma, but there are concerns that the team’s playing style might not complement his strengths—despite him being a decent fit tactically. Plus, the club earns just a two-star rating for player development. Still, Parma could be a solid platform for Reyna to reset. If he performs well in Serie A, it might not be long before a bigger club comes calling."

Now the downside of some of these articles "By comparison, Premier League side Everton is considered his best overall destination, with David Moyes’ squad earning a Club Fit score of 83."
Has Everton been linked with Gio? No? Then why add this note? Who cares if they would be a good fit if they aren't interested.

USMNT Movement Post (To be updated regularly)

Update in this post: Weah gets closer to a move

Officially moved
Damion Downs to Southampton (Championship)
Malik Tillman to Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga)
Patrick Agyemang to Derby County (Championship)
Johnny to Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

Here We Go (close)

Rumor Stage

Matt Turner - linked heavily with Lyon (Ligue 1).

Diego Luna - linked lightly with Celta Vigo (La Liga) and other Euro clubs

Ricardo Pepi - Linked with Real Betis (La Liga) but little else as PSV has made it clear he will come with a large price tag

Yunus Musah - Was originally linked heavily with Napoli (Serie A) but things have gone quiet

Update: Tim Weah - A preliminary agreement has been reached between Tim Weah and Olympique de Marseille on a 5-year contract. Advanced negotiations between OM and Juventus for a loan with a mandatory purchase option between €12-15M.

Griffan Yow - DC United has submitted a bid to Westerloo. An interesting side note here is that DC United actually hold a sell on fee on Yow to begin with and are now trying to buy him back.

Christian Pulisic - Pulisic has rejected the Saudi offers and is now said to be focused on re-signing with Milan

Gio Reyna - Parma have offered €6M + bonuses to Borussia Dortmund, but they ask for little more. Meanwhile, Parma offered Gio Reyna a three-year contract plus an option for another and a €25M release clause: some details to be filed, but there are the conditions for Gio to arrive in Italy.

Josh Sargent - being heavily linked with Wolfsburg (Bundesliga)

Contract Extensions

The following players have all recently signed long term contracts at current clubs

Julian Eyestone: Brentford (EPL)
Noakai Banks: Augsburgh (Bundesliga)
Jack McGlynn: Houston Dynamo (MLS)

By the way, who gets, and what type of, benefit of a loan with a mandatory purchase? Why not just purchase immediately if it is mandatory after loan?

Has Everton been linked with Gio? No? Then why add this note? Who cares if they would be a good fit if they aren't interested.
I don't think he'd get minutes at Everton. They were pretty good after Moyes came back last year. Wish Reyna would just bit the bullet and make a move that gets him minutes. MLS, Netherlands, Championship are all automatic starter leagues and that's what he needs right now.

Yeah, that's the leitmotif. PT anywhere will do for now.

Excl: Manchester City talent Cavan Sullivan set to fly to England this week to begin his training camp with #MCFC.

Sullivan formally set to join in 2027 as he’s still 15 but will start first steps at Manchester City this summer.

City see Cavan as elite talent for future

I won't add this to the list because he is still a bit off the radar for the USMNT, but since it relates tangentially to Agy I will post. Note that Kelman was the leading in scorer in League 1 in England last season while on loan.

[Romano] 🚨🇺🇸 Excl: MLS side Charlotte FC are pursuing QPR striker Charlie Kelman as they look to replace Patrick Agyemang. Charlotte FC have had an initial bid rejected by QPR.

City see Cavan as elite talent for future
I wish the Philadelphia Union would show more evidence of seeing him this way
The last word (future) seems to be the issue.

He is performing very well in MLSNext but I have to assume Philly does not yet see him as ready. He has been with the first team numerous times so they have had good looks at him in training. Hopefully he will get some useful minutes towards the end of the season but I am unsure that will happen.

Of any academy outside of Dallas, i trust Philly to roll him out the right way.

Also, since he's basically sold off at this point, they can't recoup more transfer money out of showcasing him
If he's not ready to win them games right now then he shouldn't play. Pretty simple.

very true.

Also, while we don't know what the contract language is like with Man City, since he is still kind of small, they may want to protect him from injury against the 28 year old battled hardened vets he would be playing against who could care less that he is the next big prospect.

I still have hopes he is going to get real minutes before he leaves but that may not be until the start of next season.

I agree with what all of you are saying. But I also think if he's genuinely an elite level player he should be good enough to get regular playing time in MLS at 15. My point of comparison is that we have a number of guys (most of whom would not be considered truly elite) who were getting regular playing time in much tougher leagues at 17 or 18. So he should basically be dominating in MLS at 16 if he's really elite...which would suggest he should be capable of holding his own in MLS at 15. Not saying the Union are wrong in their assessment, but it does concern me a bit if they don't think he's ready.

Caleb Wiley loaned to Watford again. I never saw a game, but it seems like a great place for him to spend another season.

Granit Xhaka’s move to Sunderland is progressing quickly.

Xhaka played over 2800 league minutes last year for Leverkusen and if he leaves that should open up a ton of minutes in the midfield which should benefit Tillman.

That is a good sign when a club wants a player back on loan for a second time.
Seems like he could still have an outside shot at making our WC roster next year, but everything would need to go nearly perfectly
This is interesting to ponder, not just for WIley but in general.

I wonder what players who have never played for Poch yet will get rostered......

Dest is the obvious one but it will be interesting if any one else can come out of no where in the last season before the WC...

Musah and Pulisic both start for Milan against Arsenal today.

Milan has a bunch of roster changes this season so it is hard to tell if this is a first choice team or just early season experimenting by the new coach.

Fofana is out. as is Modric. Those two will be ahead of Musah for sure. I don't know Ricci.

Sounds like it's a 3-5-2, with Musah and RLC as box-to-box, with Ricci in the pivot. 2 wide players will be asked to defend.

Interesting that Leao is the captain. what I just read said that he'll be the 9 with CP playing more left. But Santi G is out, and they're trying to get another 9 (last reports were Vlahovic)... so uncertain whether Leao will stay forward with a full squad, or will likely shift back to the left with CP moving back to the right.

BREAKING: Lyon have hired a lawyer in attempt to cancel the deal to sign 31-year-old USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest after a transfer restriction was put in place and the club presented reduced budgets to avoid relegation to the French second tier
Good to see our European season is off to a great start. I hope Lyon get stuck with him...seems more likely that he'll play that way than if it takes a substantial amount of time to get resolved and it's too late for Forest to send him anywhere else.

Obviously this isn't good.

But didn't they already have a lawyer?
I assume the conditions around bringing people in are new...post Turner trade...and need legal scrutiny.

yeah don't agree with the backup defenders at all
same with me. Scally is far from great but he is far more polished than either Arfsten or Freeman are at this point.

I thought it was strange they listed Downs as a winger.
Agree with both.

Freemans a nice prospect. But if im in the WC and im forced to play Freeman as he is now...ive basically given up. The offense isnt there yet, and hes still too naive vs regional competition, let alone WC level teams and players. If im forced to play Scally...not thrilled, but i know im still in the game on both sides of the ball. Plus, hes a guy who has shown repeatedly that hell step up against the BMs of the world, so doesnt play scared on the big stage.

Update on Campbell. Not sure if this belongs in the master list or not but here it is anyways

=======

VfB Stuttgart have reached an agreement with Cole Campbell on a five-year contract!

The 19 y/o US talent wants the move – Stuttgart are clearly in pole position despite interest from other clubs. However, an agreement between #VfB and Borussia Dortmund is still pending. Stuttgart’s offer is around €7m.

Campbell is under contract with #BVB until 2028. Dortmund value the player and are preferring a loan or a sale with a sell-on clause or buyback option

BREAKING: Josh Sargent’s proposed move to Wolfsburg has collapsed. The clubs were close to agreeing a £21M deal after Wolfsburg submitted their bid on Friday, but Sargent decided he didn’t want to go back to the Bundesliga. Burnley remain interested.
Interesting since he is playing and getting goals. Championship isn't a terrible level either. Looking at a WC year, moving back wondering if he will play, doesn't like living/playing in Germany?
Potentially a negative that he doesn't want to play in a better league, but maybe he hopes he can hold form and get a call?

And I am still not sure why Brenden Aaronson is still being considered, even as a backup? What does he bring to the team?

It appears he is a coaches player.

Seems almost every coach that he plays for gives him more opportunities than us fans think he deserves. No one can question his work rate but other than that, his quality is inconsistent at best and also his work rate covers up a very limited athletic ability.

Oh for sure and I get that. Every fan base has that player they either love for that or hate for that.
