"I never had a problem with Landon. Until I told him he's not going to Brazil. It was purely a footballing decision. We felt his time was kind of over...and better players were going to Brazil."Jürgen Klinsmann on not taking Landon Donovan to World Cup 2014.

As Bruce Arena once quipped, "if you have 23 players better than Landon Donovan, you should be winning the world cup"

I don't understand why JK won't be honest here and just say the sabbatical was not something he either approved or wanted for any of his players. Most fans would shrug and probably agree with him if that was his reasoning.

Update in this post: Moving Agy from rumor to Here We Go

Officially moved
Matt Turner to Lyon (Ligue 1)
Damion Downs to Southampton (Championship)
Malik Tillman to Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga)

Here We Go (close)

Update: Patrick Agyemang - Has been removed from the lineup tonight as the medical cleared and final fee was agreed upon with Derby,

Rumor Stage

Johnny - linked heavily with Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

Diego Luna - linked lightly with Celta Vigo (La Liga) and other Euro clubs

Ricardo Pepi - Linked with Real Betis (La Liga) but little else as PSV has made it clear he will come with a large price tag

Yunus Musah - Was originally linked heavily with Napoli (Serie A) but things have gone quiet

Josh Sargent - Linked with Leeds (EPL)

Tim Weah - Turned down move to Nottingham Forrest (EPL), latest rumors link him to Olympique Marseille (Ligue 1)

Griffan Yow - DC United has submitted a bid to Westerloo. An interesting side note here is that DC United actually hold a sell on fee on Yow to begin with and are now trying to buy him back.

Christian Pulisic - Al Nassr are talking to AC Milan about a possible bid for Pulisic. This would put Pulisic on a front line with Mane and CRo if it happens.

Should be moving but no rumors yet

Gio Reyna

Contract Extensions

The following players have all recently signed long term contracts at current clubs

Julian Eyestone: Brentford (EPL)
Noakai Banks: Augsburgh (Bundesliga)
Jack McGlynn: Houston Dynamo (MLS)

Of note, Christian Pulisic has NOT yet re-signed with Milan. This has been in the works for months now but no closure yet.

My news feed is full of Milan stuff...Musah always mentioned as a guy not in "Allegris project" and should leave. But not much otherwise. A quiet West Ham link a couple days ago...as part of a multiplayer deal.

There really are a few things I wish would be let go, mostly by journalists.

Please stop asking JK and LD about the other one. Let it go, its over and done with
Any 99er about Hope Solo.

If we could stop these topics, nothing is going to change in the answers or the bias. Just stop bringing them up.

I agree.

But at least this time it was not out of the blue. The connotation was related to how Poch will be able to handle Pulisic wanting time off, something we are all a little nervous about.

Yeah I get it. Just wish either one could avoid and journalists could ask without invoking the other.

Why does the 'Venue Series' come out to a higher price per ticket than the others? Would have thought it would be the opposite

I imagine because it's the most games?

I was hoping to catch at least one of the Philly games. What do people think is the play for the group stage games if I don't much care for which teams I see play? I would think game 1 would be in higher demand just due to human nature, and game 3 I'd worry about getting a dead rubber, so leaning maybe game 2? Does that make sense?

Note that the chances of a dead rubber game for game 3 are reduced in WC2026 due to a number of 3rd place teams being able to advance.

Wouldn't that usually mean that if anything you'd pay LESS per ticket?

If I'm understanding these packages correctly (which I suspect I'm not), then that package costs more per game.

Actually, I think I get it now. I was interpreting the first package as one group stage game AND one round of 32 game...but it's one or the other

Johnny. God bless the fella.

And for a guy who has been on the very cusp or within 1st team ball the last 2 years with Juve, Weah must've been told he wasn't part of their plans...otherwise seems a backwards move to me (not considering finances)

oh WTF??? I just realized I made a huge mistake in the movement tracker. Turner to Lyon has never been made official from what I can tell. He is still currently a Forest player

According to this: https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/us...e-of-joining-derby-county/blt01f167f20ddf0f0e

In early June, it was announced that Nottingham Forest, Lyon, and Matt Turner were all in advanced conversations around the American signing for the French club on a permanent transfer this summer. However, shortly after the initial news broke, it was announced that Lyon were set to be automatically relegated to Ligue 2 by the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG) after securing a debt reportedly north of $500M.

News broke on Wednesday that the decision was overturned amid a successful appeal from Lyon, and they will remain in Ligue 1 in the 2025-26 season. With that, the news surrounding a potential move for Turner was handed a major boost as well, as the USMNT goalkeeper looks to secure regular first-team minutes and compete in European soccer this coming campaign.

The deal is not official, but with(last) Wednesday's news, transfer gossip will only heat up with the club.

😥

=======================

Voetbal International report that Sergiño Dest left PSV’s friendly with SV Elversberg early. The right-back came off in the 20th minute with a suspected thigh or groin injury.

Peter Bosz started the American full-back and added minutes to the 45 minutes he got against Union Saint-Gilloise last week. Dest was supposed to play a half against Elversberg, but he didn’t make it past the 20th minute.

The 24-year-old went down and underwent physical therapy but quickly decided not to continue. It appeared the injury was to his thigh or groin, but the exact details of the injury are, of course, still unknown.
ok good news here!

The Dest injury was considered minor and he is traveling with the team to their next game. He is expected to return to full training shortly.

I saw something on Facebook about Campbell potentially going to Stuttgart or Frankfurt. No idea if reliable.
There are actually 2 different Cambells in the rumors today. Cole and George.

Cole is linked with Frankfurt abd George is linked with West Brom.

I will add one or both of these to the rumor section if they look like they have any life to them.
