FCB over Man U in extra time! 2:1ETA--- How the hell is this thread on page 2 today?
It seems like a lot of people watch the rebroadcasts at night and don't want spoilers.Of course that one was worth watching even if you know the score in advance. Great match and the 2nd leg should be excellent.

My six year old started laughing so hard when Olic scored.."How would you like it if I take my shirt off at practice dad!!!!!!!"Where is the best channels to watch the most free soccer this year..getting ready for World Cup
I loved the smile and handshake with the ref as he was given the yellow.Fox Soccer Channel is great if you have it. If not, FSN shows some Champions League and ESPN2 carries a lot of the big Premier League games. ManU and Chelsea will play on ESPN2 this Saturday morning.

 I watched 92 minutes of the Bayern game and said to myself "well, it's a draw, might as well just sign on ESPN Soccernet for the hell of it."

Evra looked like Sergio Ramos and Olic like Clint Dempsey on that one.....

Rematch of 2006 tomorrow....I didn't think Arsenal would win in 2006, but I was a lot more confident going into that final than I am heading into tomorrow. Still, if Arsenal have to lose to somebody, I'm okay with losing to the greatest player in team history and the best player in the history of the world ;)

A return to Arsenal on Wednesday night will be an "emotional" occasion for Thierry Henry, the man named the club's greatest ever player following his move to Barcelona.Henry twice won the Premier League during his time with the Gunners and became the club's all-time record goalscorer in a hugely successful eight-year spell in North London. But the forward was pitted against a number of old friends when Barcelona were drawn to face Arsenal in the Champions League, with the first leg of the quarter-final coming at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.Henry may well be left on the bench by Pep Guardiola having struggled with his form at Barca this season, but the striker who remains a self-confessed Arsenal fan is anticipating a "special" occasion."I'm very emotional, but also staying calm," Henry said. "It will be a strange game for me. Before the draw I said that I did not want to face Arsenal. That was my wish. But now that's the game we've got and we'll have to give everything."It's very special. To return home is strange and even more so in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It will be different because I spent seven years at Highbury and only one at the Emirates, but to see the people, the fans and the other employees at the club again will be very strange.
 :lmao:

Might as well jump on the bandwagon hard for Barca, since Liverpool is screwed this year and beyond.

I also discovered on Sunday that XM carries EPL play-by-play. Was a nice find since I had to take the boy out on a couple errands during the second half of the Liverpool game.

Haven't been this jittery before an Arsenal match in awhile.....

I think that if they want to have any chance whatsoever, they have to keep Barca at 1 goal or less. Give up 2 goals, or god forbid lose at home, and the second leg is a foregone conclusion. 1-1 draw, 0-0 draw, or a win, and I'm ok. Lose at home or give up a mass of away goals in like a 3-3 draw and I just can't see them coming back from that.

In all honesty, I'm seeing a 2-1 loss tomorrow and a desperate 2 or 3 goal loss at Camp Nou next week with Barca murdering the weak Arsenal D with some counterattacks...but a man can dream of an upset....

You can't abandon them when they need you the most.....whatever happened to "you'll never walk alone"....?

I was told earlier that it was OK to have a favorite team in another league. Take it up with your fellow experts. And, of course, Liverpool will always be my first love. Look, I'm firing up Gerry and the Pacemakers right now. Are you happy?

My teams go: Ipswich > Inter > Liverpool > Italy > USAOf course Ipswich won't be a board favorite for another year or two. You all will become fans, one day. After that I seem to follow teams most in this thread hate. No prob.As long as Liverpool make Europa next year everything will be fine. Imagine Rafa out and my main man Mourinho in(may not happen if Inter win Champions). This is about the worst season you will ever see from Liverpool. You Will Never Walk Alone.I would love him to stay at Inter and rebuild the respect for Serie A, but he wants to own the English as a matter of glory. My suggestion is to become an Inter fan Bentley. The Spanish are all flair. Inter is about doing the job.btw #### Manu and Chelski.

Ipswich... interesting.I'm just getting into soccer and a few months ago I decided to pick my favorite English teams based on my English ancestry.I can trace some of my history back to a town called Nazeing just north of London, so that made me an Arsenal fan.The other place that came up was Suffolk County. I decided that Ipswich Town would become my favorite team from the Championship, but really haven't thought much about them since. So I'm on the bandwagon. What am I getting into?

The best bandwagon you ever joined!!! Tractor Boys!!Currently the side is sorting itself under Roy Keane (wiki him; a legend and a target) in the Champioship. We will finish midtable this year with a strong expectation next year for promotion. Keane has until December to sort it out.Assuming Norwich (Naaaaarwich) doesn't #### the bed, then the East Anglian derby will happen. It's no AC v Inter, but very spirited.Next year is the year to be on the wagon for sure.Historically: Ipswich has won every big trophy just not in the lat 30 years. Very solid finances with Evans as well.#### West Ham!!!

:goodposting:I had heard of Keane from past World Cups, but didn't know all about his personality. Fascinating guy. Figured I'd just get the basics off his wiki page and ended up reading the whole thing.

And don't forget they signed a young American, Devon Yao. So you've got that added US factor to route for (that's my usual basis for picking foreign teams).

If Fabregas plays, they should keep things close. Without him, Arsenal will definitely need some magic from Nasri, Arshavin, Walcott and Bendtner to get a reasonable result. At least Gallas is fit. I had nightmares about Messi running circles around Sol.

Rooney out 4 weeks with a sprained ankle late in the match yesterday
If its just a sprain he's lucky (and the story I read this morning is that he's going in for an MRI this morning, so they really don't know the full extent of it). Watching the replay it looked like what the NFL guys do when they get lis franc injuries which are season ending.

I'm actually happy about this as a US fan, because I want Rooney to play in that England-US match. Obviously weakens the US's chances to win, but I'd rather there be no excuses if the US can pull out a result, plus Rooney is so much fun to watch.

No Iniesta for Barcelona today - not a good thing. It's good to have Xavi there, but those two work so well together. Hoping Leo has another command performance ready for today.

Doesn't sound like Henry is going to get the start today. Not unexpected. Busquets getting the start is a bit unexpected. Pep must like the way he matches up a DM against english sides.

The timing is obviously awful for ManU with Chelsea this weekend and the return leg against Bayern less than two weeks away - essentially the two crucial deciding games for their season (having been knocked out of the FA cup pretty early I believe). United needs a goal to advance, and Robben/Ribery strike me as perfect players for a counter strategy. I think Bayern has a real shot here to get some vengence for 1999.

I'm waking up early to catch the game (Chelsea / Man-U) at Nevada Smith's on Saturday, never been there for these early weekend matches. Is 7AM going to be good enough to get a seat? I am not even sure what time the bar would open.

Gotta still like Barca going forward, but Rafa Marquez was just awful in the last game I saw him play. I think I'd rather have Nasri subbing for Cesc in the CM than roll out Milito and Marquez at CB. I thought the penalty call was a bit fortunate for Arsenal, but Cesc probably should have done better anyway.

Walcott puzzles me. He's very good in these big games, and he's absolute crap against worse competition.

The red for it too.

 :cry:awful week for me already...and Chelsea this weekend too in what very well should determine the title. I think a home draw should be enough to get United through, but...no Owen, no Rooney......ummm, Berbatov and who? Vidic is back playing very well, going to need an inspired performance from the whole club.

Marquez is a train wreck. How he has been a member of the Blaugrana this long mystifies me. Can't believe he's still there. Still ticked we didn't go after Albiol last summer - he'd be pretty handy to have right now.

Wow, that was crazy. Obviously Barca still has the upper hand in the return leg, but it should be entertaining at any rate. I wish Fabregas, Puyol and Pique were all able to play though. I hate seeing key players miss these kinds of match ups.

I'm not so sure Albiol would have joined Barça. Seems that would require him or Puyol to slide over to the left side, neither of whom have shown the same quality there as they have at CB.

BTW, it was a pretty damn good match. Some random thoughts:

I think Song did exceptionally well on Messi, sticking on him and pestering him all night. Almunia came up big at least 3-4 times, but then blew it once as well. Cesc was disappointing, and it seemed like he was trying a bit too hard at times. Ibra is a beast. Puyol has a sick knack for making great defensive plays at timely moments. He really has a sixth sense for when and how a player is going to shoot. Walcott was dynamite for the Gooners and gave them the spark to steal the draw. He's gonna rip this #### out of whoever is playing right (or left) back for the US.

how do you break a leg taking a penalty kick?
wait, what???
LONDON (AP) — Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas may have broken a leg while scoring the tying penalty kick during Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Barcelona, an injury that would sideline him for the World Cup.Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger started Fabregas after the midfielder passed a fitness test on a knee injury. Fabregas left Emirates Stadium on crutches after again getting hurt. “We have to wait for tomorrow, but I hope I can wear the Arsenal shirt again this season,” Fabregas said. “I fear the worst, which is that I have broken something. I do not think it is going to be good news, but still I hope there will be.”

Fabregas was carrying an injury going into the game. He most likely aggravated it.

I just don't get Abou Diaby...he looks like a superstar sometimes, and other times (today) he looks just dreadful. He and Eboue are doing their best to just give the game away.

I'm fine with the result, but you still have to favor Barca in the final leg. I just can't see Arsenal winning at Camp Nou, or drawing 3-3 (or more) even with Puyol and Pique out. Arsenal just have no venom up front....they don't have an out-and-out striker who can dominate English competition, let alone the best team in the world. Bendtner was rendered invisible today, as expected.

With no Arshavin or Cesc up there certainly wont be much attacking options for Arsenal in the return leg.

Still don't understand ESPN's love affair with David Beckham..is it a ploy to get world cup ratings?
Becks will have no affect on ratings. He will not be playing in the world cup. Even if he was on the squad, he would not affect the ratings very much at all this time around. The world cup ratings have been very strong for a while now. One player does not really move the needle that much. The US and Mexico are the two teams that drive US ratings (obviously) and then any of the big name teams also do well.Ratings for the WC are more affected by the week day start times than anything else in the US.
