That is a great sign. God knows his scoring rate at club level has been shockingly low in the past couple of years.

best game I have ever been to was Beckhams first game in NY. Jozy played great in that game.

Another change in this US roster for Mexico. Edu has been replaced with Robbie Rogers.

Still not sure how I feel about the Chandler situation. I don't understand why they reported that he was replaced on the roster because of an ankle injury, only to see him play a full 90 yesterday.

Adu may be the most interesting to watch in the next US game. Rumors are that a few MLS teams are interested but no one has yet pulled the trigger.

Freddy has been in DC since the Gold Cup training with a personal trainer.

BUMPPlease update any changes that are necessary, new teams that you follow, etc. I think I fixed all of the promoted/relegated teams to their new leagues. This is permanently in my sig (if you have sigs turned on) in case you ever want to see who's a fan of what.
The mike Ashley era has kind of pushed me into the Arsenal camp. After a long drought DeRo is single-handedly making DC United a must watch for me.

I've decided I'm going to try to follow Southampton in the Championship this year, simply from playing them on FM 2011. Still Tottenham in the EPL, but I've been very disappointed in the off season.

I think he's waiting as long as possible hoping for a Germany callup, but the Wash Post guy tweeted that they agreed that he could skip this one, but be there for both Sept friendlies. I won't be too upset until he misses the Sept 6 friendly in Belgium.

Is there a good roundup/preview for the Bundesliga? Kid coming, cranky GF, and ESPN3.com on the iPad seems like a good to great combo for some boring Sat nights, but I have no idea what I'm really following.

Sammy, what app are you using for ESPN3 on the IPad? Safari will not work.

As you guys know, the US did not qualify for the U20 WC.

3 of 4 CONCACAF teams have advanced to the knock out round.

The competition for WC slots may get tougher for the US as our youth squads look as weak as I can remember for the last 15 or so years since they have been telecast.

MADRID -- Real Madrid has signed a seven-year-old football prospect from Argentina, who goes by the name Leo.

Leonel Angel Coira has signed with the Spanish club and will begin training Sept. 6, Madrid spokesman Juan Tapiador tells The Associated Press.

Argentine sports daily Ole reported last week that Coira had become the youngest player signed by Madrid but Tapiador said he is not.

Coira told Ole that his idol was Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi, who also goes by the name Leo. Coira says he prefers "to provide the pass" than to score.

Ole reports Madrid, the world's biggest club, made the push to sign Coira with Spanish league rival Atletico Madrid also pursuing the youngster.

US Soccer put out the following to clarify the issue. "In his first five days on the job, U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann had been speaking to as many players as possible prior to naming the squad and had not been able to reach Chandler. Following Thursday's roster announcement, Klinsmann spoke with Chandler and FC Nürnberg manager Dieter Hecking about Chandler's call-up for the Mexico game. After discussing Chandler's fitness following a minor injury and the importance of trying to earn a regular starting spot in his first full Bundesliga campaign, Klinsmann decided to allow Chandler to remain with his club rather than make the long trip to Philadelphia, and understood that he would likely play in the team's opening match of the season against Hertha Berlin. All agreed that Chandler would report to the USA's September friendlies against Costa Rica and Belgium."

Today's random thoughts

1) I want to party like it is 1994. Ramos, Dooley and Reyna were all on the field together again today helping out with the Nats practice. Very cool.

2) After doing a lot of reading on Klinny's thought, I wonder if he should have considered a different role, one that US soccer has never employed to my knowledge. It is ultra clear that Klinny's thoughts and ideas expand well beyond the senior side. I think he would be a perfect fit for a person who is in charge of anyone who kicks a ball. He should be allowed to hire all coaches from senior down to u17 and by doing so help to install a consistent playing and development philosophy that today is extremely splintered.

3) on a good note, Klinny seems to be on the same page with Reyna who just recently came up with a blueprint to overhaul the development of players.

4) if the MLS season ended today, and all teams were normalized on a ppg basis, NY would be out of the playoffs. Considering that 10 out of the 18 teams make the playoffs and the relative talent level NY has (Henry, Agudelo, Ream, Richards, Marquez, McCarty etc) it has to be considered a monumental failure to this point.

5) there are more lefty's on the US roster than I can ever remember (Boca, DMB, Ream, Castillo, Shea, Pearce, Torres, Adu etc)

It is better than misspelling his name 75 different ways. You will live I am sure.

:goodposting: Jurgey or Klinsy would even be more acceptable, but nothing wrong with plain ol' Kilnsmann, imo. Klinny is pretty bad.

Could the London riots cause any games to be rescheduled this week?
London riots force cup postponementsReuters - 4 hours agoLONDON - West Ham United's English League Cup game against Aldershot and Charlton Athletic's match with Reading on Tuesday have been postponed due to the riots sweeping London."West Ham United have been asked by the police to postpone the first-round tie with Aldershot Town tomorrow night," a West Ham statement said on Monday."The club were contacted this evening and told that all major public events in London were to be rearranged because of the need to focus police resources elsewhere."A statement from south London club Charlton added: "With rioting taking place across London, officials were in contact with police throughout Monday evening. Clearly the most important factor is people's safety. The police have told us they believe the match should be postponed on safety grounds."Crystal Palace's cup tie with Crawley Town in South London could also be under threat, as could England's friendly international against the Netherlands at North London's Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Spurs' ticket office was damaged by rioting. Their home game vs. Everton on Saturday is the most in jeopardy if things don't cool down by then. It's too early to tell what the situation will be like.I've been to both White Hart Lane and Crystal Palace's home ground Selhurst Park (Wimbledon's former ground share partner). Palace's stadium in Croydon appeared to be in a nicer part of town than White Hart Lane, which was in a pretty scummy area IMO.

Scotland Yard will make the final call towards the end of the week

There will be 8 announcers assigned by ESPN2 to start the new Klinny era.

There will be a 30 minute pregame show on ESPN News. Suppose to be a good mix of Mexican coverage as well.
