Yann M'Vila came off early with an ankle injury today. Was crying on the sideline, so I assume he's out for the Euros.
Great timing. Read earlier today that he was hoping to use the Euros as a showcase for teams trying to sign him.Hope he ends up at Arsenal. Wenger's wanted him forever.
He's doing it wrong! Typically Arsenal players wait until after they sign with the team to get hurt.

Serious/n00b question: Isn't Rodgers going to Liverpool somewhat similar to Chelsea signing AVB last year? In other words, trying to imprint pretty, possession-based Spanish-style football over a pretty traditional/direct English club?

Personnel-wise, does this make sense? How much would they have to overhaul?

Rodgers reportedly going to try and take Sigurdsson with him to Anfield.

:hot: :hot: :hot:
I read that as well. That is cold.
Total **** move, and I love it.
Did Rodgers have to make a video of Sigurdsson kicking balls into garbage cans to get management to sign off?
What's the reference here?
Why Liverpool signed Stewart Downing
That's hilarious. It's the xenophobic junk they pull on all foreign owners, but still funny.

I think Liverpool's suited for his system. This post explains how the players might fit into the system much better than I could here:http://ohyoubeauty.blogspot.com/2012/05/on-brendan-rodgers.html

This one, too.http://www.eplindex.com/14987/brendan-rodgers-tactical-approach-liverpool-adapt-tikitaka.html

In my opinion, I think it means Aquilani finally has a place on the team. I also hope that Rodgers doesn't feel pressure to play Henderson just because of the money spent on him. He obviously can't hold the ball or pass very well, and doesn't fit the system in my opinion.

Lorenzo Tehau scored four goals, including three in a three-minute span in the second half, as Tahiti thrashed Samoa 10-1 in the opening match of the Oceania Nations Cup football tournament Friday.Four members of the Tehau family shared nine goals as Tahiti made an emphatic start to the eight-nation tournament, which also serves as the second round of Oceania qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.Lorenzo’s twin brother Alvin scored twice, as did older brother Jonathan. Teoanui Tehau replaced Alvin in the 53rd minute and took only a minute to add his name to the scoresheet.Lorenzo Tehau scored Tahiti’s first goal in the eighth minute, then added their eighth, ninth and 10th in the 83rd, 84th and 85th minutes.

The next 7 Spanish Super Cups (like Community Shield in the Prem.) will be played in China, including the next iteration of el clásico. I'm sure the timing will suck for us in the Western Hemisphere.

The sleep of a few American fans is a small price to pay when you're building a global brand

I think that RM and Barça are trying to combat the ManU dominance as a brand in Asia. Both see China as a growing market of consumers for their product.

I was reading an article about GM dropping their Superbowl sponsorships for United and the statistics they were quoting for United popularity and EPL television audiences in general were jaw dropping.

And I think I was incorrect in my previous post. The upcoming Spanish Supercopa won´t be in China, but the 7 that follow (2013 onward) will be.

Am I a bad person for hoping it's lengthy and serious or potentially career-ending?

CHICAGO -- Mexico defender Rafa Marquez did not play in an exhibition against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday night after injuring his right quad.Marquez, who plays for the New York Red Bulls, was apparently hurt in El Tri's 2-0 exhibition win against Wales on Sunday. Team doctors say he has a strained muscle in his quadriceps, and they plan to be cautious with World Cup qualifying beginning next week. Mexico hosts Guyana on June 8 in Mexico City, then has a game at El Salvador four days later. After Thursday night's game against Bosnia, Mexico has one final tuneup Sunday, this one against Brazil in Arlington, Texas.

No you are not a bad person at all. Probably one of my least favorite Mexican players ever.

:goodposting: Can't stand him. I'm thinking about seeing a hypnotist to help me forget he ever played for Barcelona.

Go Egypt!Egypt and Bob Bradley start World Cup Qualifying today against Mozambique.
0-0 at halftime. Being played in front of an empty stadium due to security reasons. Tough way to play your home games for Egypt.
Mozambique only has three players on the subs bench and are starting guys named Jerry and Whisky.
They have seven players on the bench. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/africa/matches/round=258334/match=300176012/index.htmlEgypt up 2-0 now.

Egypt wins their first qualifier 2-0. Nice start to a long qualification process.
African qualification schedules are crazy. The WC qualifiers happen concurrently with games for the 2013 African Cup of Nations. The political instability of the continent makes getting to some of the away legs a bigger challenge than the games themselves. Egypt has been one of the more stable regimes in recent history but who knows what will happen over the next two years. Bradley may be Pharoah by then.

Exhibit #1 for why the US needs someone on the squad they can afford to miss during a well-earned eight-match ban.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing an uphill battle in its qualifier against Cameroon tomorrow as 8 of their key players failed to show up for the game.

So, uh, who is going to start at striker for Spain in the Euros? Why am I asking? No reason in particular.

Francisco Massinga (born 6 May 1986), better known as Whiskey, is a Mozambican football defender. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If Klinsmann keeps pounding into the players that they need to be more nasty, I fear that Jones is going to get a red very soon. That two footed scissor tackle on Nemar would have been a red in Guatemala.

Michael Ballack update: Looks very likely that he's heading to Montreal. Philly was interested but doesn't want to pay more than 1st offer.

Amid all the chaos, the cancellation of the league season, the travel and the tragedy, Egypt is 11-1-2 under Bob Bradley. That's phenomenal.

You want to qualify for the WC in Africa, you've got to go through Whisky first.

At least this won't be a total embarrassment. Might even get to 15k with decent weather

Speaking of attendance, I think one day after the large crowd saw US Brazil in DC, Honduras vs El Salvador sold out RFK stadium (game is to be played on Saturday). . Impressive couple of days for DC soccer fans.
