Holy ####. Rio Ferdinand hit by an object from the crowd as United celebrate their goal. Bleeding quite a bit, actually. A fan runs on the field and the cops swarm the stands. Joe Hart in the middle of it, trying to calm the fan down.

=====================

Semi final matchups on Wednesday and Thursday are

Al-Ahly vs Corinthians

Monterrey vs Chelsea

Painful 3 points dropped by Spurs today to Everton. Up 1-0 in injury time, they give up two late goals to lose 2-1. Dempsey scored for Spurs.

tough break for Woz. He had it covered until the deflection.

United probably deserved it. Young's goal should have counted and I think Evra probably deserved a penalty.

Baloteli shouldn't start over Dzeko or Tevez. They're both better and more consistent players.

When I first saw the replay, it looked like Rio had poked himself in the eye pulling up his shirt to celebrate. Clearly that wasn't the case. Totally bush league.

Andy mentioned it before. Another reminder: NCAA final on at 11 PT ESPNU. Turns out I get that in HD so I'm setting the dvr and catching it after football.

I just asked myself- without answer- why this is always in Japan. Or isn't it? Seems like it is, if not.

Messi just set a new record for goals in a calendar year, with two in the first 30 minutes.

Record is now 85, beating Gerd Muller's 84.

It is there a lot. Started in 20052005, 2006, 2007, 2008 in Japan2009, 2010 in UAE2011, 2012 in Japan2013, 2014 in MoroccoPreviously, the single game Intercontinental/Toyota Cup (UEFA Champion vs Copa Libertadores Champion) was played in Japan from 1980-2004

On Thanksgiving night, I was filling up my car in Wardensville, WV. A car pulled up with a window decal saying "Doncha wish your striker was RvP!" The driver got out sporting a Red Devils scarf. I had thought that I was safe from having my Arsenal fandom mocked in a state without indoor plumbing, but I was apparently wrong.

:tebow: And Barcelona managed to win despite Betis playing well and pushing hard for an equalizer. Very good result for them.

Actually, record was 85. Now 86.ETA: Though without looking I bet Muller has an insane goals per game stat that year. I have to imagine there are just more games to play nowadays.

Muller played in 60 between club and country, Messi is up to 66 with 3 to play. Of course, the goal scoring environment is much lower now than it was 4 decades ago.

Only two teams in the EPL have only one player with more than one goal. One is Norwich. Name the other.
Been down to one for a couple weeks now. I expect this to right itself now that Joe Cole is on scene. I wonder what the longest a team has gone with just one multiple goal scorer.

If Premier League games finished after 80 minutes, Spurs would be top. Instead, they are fifth, having conceded ten goals in the final ten minutes of their 16 league games.
I'm not sure how they fix this, but they need to get it figured out.

Here is a fun link. This lists every player in history who has been named as a college soccer All American. It is fun looking though this for the colleges you went to or played against etc

The talent that UCLA and Virginia have produced over the years is amazing.

The Boyd goal was very well taken. He's up to 9 league goals and 13 goals in all competitions. In fact, his goal scoring record is almost identical to Jozy's.

Rapid Wien lasted longer than AZ in the Europa league and Boyd has been a sub in about half of those games. Otherwise, Boyd is pretty much scoring about a goal every 2 games. 13 goals in 27 appearances (22 starts). Jozy has 12 in 19 appearances (all starts).

Both could move in January and will almost certainly move in the summer if they don't move in January.

What is the reasoning behind the possible moves? Boyd just signed his deal so he can't be out of contract already this summer is he?I don't know about Jozy's contract situation.
Just that both clubs are selling clubs and both will likely attract interest from buying clubs. Fiorentina and Rubin Kazan were interested in Jozy last year. There are some silly rumors surrounding Boyd (the Liverpool rumor seems particularly stupid), but he's a young gifted striker who would likely net the team a profit. And a guy who would seem attactive to several mid table teams.

 thanks. interesting- turns out there were 3 guys who all-americans while I was there... had no idea. also discovered one guy just prior to me was a 4-time all-american- impressive.

I wonder what league would benefit Jozy's development the most? I'm thinking the EPL, given how hard forwards have to work there and how focused they have to be to put their chances away. Maybe Bundesliga or Serie A too.

I feel like Boyd could slot in just about anywhere and learn something at this point.

and interesting that for us US fans, now the must-watch game is Stoke vs Villa. ugh.

Arrests made of City supporters following the derby. Doesn't look like they got Ferdinand's Lee Harvey Oswald though.

Gotta say, I was astonished at the coins flying onto the field prior to Rio's injury, particularly one corner that Rooney was taking- he stopped and picked up a coin, showing it to the ref (amidst a volley of other coins landing near him).

Solid finish to our U12 season. Won our last tourny(after 1st in the league and a second and third in others) while not allowing a goal in four games.

Now a break until Futsal in late January :excited:

I saw the highlights of that match with the sound off. I thought Ferdinand had somehow cut his eyelid open by celebrating. Now it makes more sense.

I was only off one on my quote. :hophead:

Would love to see Jozy go back to the EPL...shut JK's piehole real quick if Jozy finds success there or in the Bundesliga.
