Btw, here's your FIFA World Cup Qualifying player of the day:

At Tblisi, Georgia captain Kakha Kaladze—who plays for AC Milan—had own goals on headers in the 57th and 67th minutes, giving Italy a 2-0 victory over Georgia.
Talked about :bag: :bag:
wow, two own goals in a qualifier...can't recall the last time that's happened.

Guess I shoulda put two of these instead - :own3d: :own3d: At home no less! And the dude probably is their biggest star since he play for AC Milan. Crazy.

How is it that we can play a tiny country like El Salvador in the middle of nowhere Utah and still have the crowd is against us? :own3d:

the usual quality reffing we know and love :nerd:

Though it was kinda funny to hear the goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool guy get cut off in the middle by his partner.

Regardless, that's a goal...great play by Dempsey/Altidore.

Altidore is really getting better by the match...he'll be a force for us for the next decade.

a win is a win but man that was ragged and ugly.

We were playing them like we were trying to hold a lead against Italy or something

Embarrassing. Got a lot of improving to do in the next 270-odd days.

Well played game offensively. Defense was shaky without our regulars.

Heres hoping Bradley sticks with this lineup up front. Donovan was very dangerous from the wing; Davies and Altidore were terrific up front. Dempsey very involved (which doesnt always happen). Lets hope Charlie is ok.

good lord, that was the furthest thing from embarassing. You may not follow WCQing much but this is what it is. Rarely pretty but in the end its the three points we needed. We need 3 more on Wednesday. If Mexico and Honduras win tonight, all 4 teams will be within 1 point of each other, with the 4th place prize possibly being a pissed off Argentina.

Disagree completely. We scored three legit goals (although the last one was erronously called back) and our attack was dangerous for 90 minutes. Sure our back-line was poor but we were playing without the heart of the defense. Very encouraged by this performance despite the stressful final minutes. ANd dont discount El Salvador - they beat Mexico and almost beat us earlier in qualification.

Just in terms of watching those last few minutes, it was very very tough to watch us give them so many chances. At least it was El Salvador who we could afford to give those kind of chances to since they couldn't finish them. I have been following the WC Qualifying closely. I will say that El Salvador was less chippy than most of the sides in CONCACAF at least. Very much a survive and advance type game for sure.Btw, for those curious. If things stay as they are in SA:Brazil 30 +21Chile 29 +10Paraguay 27 +8Argentina 22 +2--------------------Colombia 20 -2------------------Ecuador 20 -4Uruguay 18 +6Venezuela 17 -8Lots of key matchupsUruguay Plays Colombia, at Ecuador, Argentina so they still control their own fate.Ecuador plays at Bolivia, Uruguay, and at Chile (one easier game but no game at Bolivia is really easy - Ecuador would probably be better equipped than most to handle it)Colombia plays at Uruguay, Chile, and at ParaguayArgentina plays at Paraguary, Peru, and at Uruguay. Expect them to beat Peru by like 8 goals but they have a real legit chance to drop to the playoff if they stumble just a little.-QG

Im still not entirely sure who were supposed to be rooting for tonight. Tie? Assuming we get 3 points vs T&T and 1 at Honduras, that would put us at 19 going into the finale vs Costa Rica. Does that put us in good position for the WC?

Yeah I remember the game on the Veterans Stadiumesque surface. They do have a lot of heart down there in El Salvador, I have to say that. I guess I am discounting the losses on defense a bit too much. As for the taken-back goal - we get one of those every game don't we? :) I guess I'm never much of a fan when teams go into that prevent mode at the end.-QG
