Did anyone else just see the Aaron Ramsey injury in the Stoke / Arsenal match just now?
Yes, :goodposting: As brutal as Eduardo. If he plays again, it wont be for quite some time.... really feel badly for the kid, who was just starting to get a solid run in the first side.
Caught the replay late last night- but FSC edited/censored a minute+ post-tackle where I assume they showed replays of the tackle. But that leg bent the wrong way :goodposting: From the live-play, the tackle didn't look intentional or even all that bad... other than the result. Was it worse in a closer camera angle?

It's too bad LD can't stay. I really think it would benefit the USMNT this summer.Watching this Liverpool-Man City game, it's easy to see why Liverpool is struggling. Its MF is a disaster. There had to be half a dozen errant passes in the first half that I'd never expect to see in the past. Gerrard's frustration is palpable..
Another thing with Liverpool is that Aurelio doesn't provide the same attacking quality at left back that John Arne Riise did.

Funny- caught the same replay of the tackle today and I finally saw the badness in it. Shawcroft (?) took a great big sah-wing-anda-miss straight into Ramsey. Scary how late he was getting to the ball- but to me, that's a big guy being committed but slow; a far different beast than Eduardo tackle where, IIRC, the player came sliding in with both studs up clearly intending to do harm. Ugh. I hope the kid comes back alright- double fracture... ugh. Good that he's got Eduardo there as a walking showcase of what hard work and PT can do to get you back to playing.Oh...:)Freaking Rooney the super-sub.

Big game for my atleti going on right now against Valencia. Both teams are bringing all their offensive firepower today with kun, forlan, Reyes, simao, Villa, Silva, Joaquin, and mata all starting. Also the 19 year old goalie returns for atletico... so this game is likely to be a high scoring affair.

Its been a crazy game already... the was a clear penalty against Valencia that wasn't called, then minutes later Silva broke down the atleti d and put one in. A few minutes later, kun ganked marchena in the box, marchena went to the ground to tackle kun and in the process hit the ball intentionally with his hand... BUT the ref didn't see it. The 4th ref saw the penalty and called it in to the lead ref who stopped play, called everyone back, gave a direct red to marchena, and forlan put the pk into the net.

End result: the game is tied, and atleti is up a man with 60+ mins left to play. What a crazy game already.

BTW, Reyes is really coming into his own playing opposite simao lately and its only the departure of maxi that's allowed them to play consistently together like this.

If he played for most other countries, he'd be getting some intl callups, but as it is Spain has so much attacking talent in the midfield I doubt he's gonna get a shot.

With Leverkusen drawing Saturday and Bayern beating Hamburg 1-0 Bayern are top of the table for the first time in over a season.

Hopefully they are there to stay.

A bit behind on the weekend's action, finally watching the Arsenal game right now....they've got play basically stopped for this Ramsey injury, and I gotta say, the reactions of the players are eerily reminiscent of the Eduardo injury. Chilling, really.

Not quite David Busst-level....yet

Terrible injury. I don't believe in curses, but Arsenal and their constant injuries.....Up for some Fifa later?

In the Greek league, Aris beat Larissa 2-0 but Eddie Johnson and Freddy did not play. Theyre currently in 5th and hold the last UEFA place.

Absolutely can not wait for Wednesday. Just wish everyone was healthy, but it's gonna be nice to see us up against one of the best teams in the world. I hope Edu and Holden both get to start.

Just to be clear, I meant that the injury was as bad as Eduardo, not the challenge. They were different beasts for sure, and it went a very long way for me to see how upset Shawcross was as he was walking off the pitch. He made a mistake and he immediately realized it.

Game is on ESPN2 and Galavision for those interested.

Yeah it's hard not to feel bad for Shawcross. I'm sure it ruined what should have been the high point of his career so far (nat call-up).

 Gol TV is showing the Argentina v Germany friendly on Wendesday too. Looks like I'm getting nothing done after work that day.

Has a player been moved off a team faster because of one single mistake? I loved Riise, the own goal burned my soul, but it would be nice to have him at this point.

oh, he's down alright. Also, did anyone else catch the Terry/Bridge "handshake" this weekend? Yeah, like that was going to happen.

GB Man City beating Chelsea

and GMFB Wayne Rooney.

FSC had the Bellamy/Tevez interview after the game. They talked about the game, then the interviewer asked Tevez about winning the game for Bridge. Tevez begged off saying he didn't want to mess up in English so he gave thee question to Bellamy who basically said everyone knew how big of a scumbag he is off the field, so it wasn't anything new/special. That had me :) I have to think at some point Terry's douchebaggeriness will hurt the English team at some point (nevermind the fact that he hasn't been that great lately).

That interview rocked. I thought Tevez begged off the question bc the dumb ### reporter used the word "galvanize" in it. I mean, he isn't a native speaker and I don't think galvanizar is used as an idiom like that in spanish. He sure didn't seem to back down from showing his feelings on Terry on the pitch.

Whatever the reason it was hilarious b/c Bellamy then had this look on his face of "how personal do I really want to get with Terry" on it. He was about as diplomatic as he could get which I'm sure was a first for him.

ESPN published their list of the 50 top players in the world today.

Before i even opened it, i knew who was gonna be ranked # 50.

couple of comments1) I was surprised to see this so front and center on the ESPN page as the main story. I think this is going to be the best covered World Cup ever2) I had an inkling as well who would be #50. I don't blame ESPN for it even if many people might scoff at it. The better question is would he have made the list with out the last couple of months of play? My guess is no.

that list is ####### putrid. I've probably not seen a worst list published by a "reputable" site ever. After the top 3, it kind of all fell apart from me.

one omission that stood out was Ibrahimovic. I gotta think he's one of the top 50 players on the planet.

My guess is that they only listed players who qualified for South Africa.

This...its a Top 50 players in the WC. It's tough for me to get fired up about including the best player on one of the 16 best teams in the WC in a top 50 list.

I also thought most of the first half of the list was defensible. I thought the second half was a bit curious. I did think they had Pirlo way too high. Like they thought it was 2006 or something.

Per Grant Wahl, Jermaine Jones was invited by Bradley to Amsterdam as a guest. Looks like he still may be in the mix even though he hasnt been rostered yet.

:blackdot:
When Wayne Rooney broke through internationally at just 17 years of age and took his place next to then-England striker Michael Owen, a British journalist referred to them as "the baby-faced assassin and the assassin-faced baby," with Rooney accounting for the less flattering of the descriptions.
I'd never seen this quote before.

thats very good news IMO.However, they still wont be able to see him play with the team before he's named to the squad right? I know that we have some games before the squad is named, but they arent on official FIFA days. So even if he's healthy, he wont be released to play. For the tune up games closer to the WC, it will be too late.It just wasn't meant to be IMO.

It's because Torres and Gerrard are in the top 10, isn't it?
oh, that's certainly part of it.Lampard and Essien are pretty overranked too, imho.No Pato? Probably would have put Schweinsteiger on there tooBuffon ahead of Cesar?Oh, and #50 is a bit of a reach

Eh, the list doesnt bother me at all. My biggest beefs would probably be putting Henry in the top 30 given that hes a shell of his former self and having Iniesta/Xavi/Alves so high (though I know its fashionable to show love to Barca players). Finally, Id put Aguero higher and would definitely find some room for Pato, who is an obvious omission (probably an oversight). But it a good primer for the WC and a nice list overall.

The thing with Pato is that Dunga doesn't play him.

I'm not knowledgable enough on who plays where to do it, but I would be interested in seeing that list broken out by clubs.

I know for Bayern:

12 Franck Ribéry

32 Arjen Robben

34 Miroslav Klose

47 Philipp Lahm
