Grant Wahl just tweeted that three Frenchmen will be coming to MLS this season.

Henry first, followed by Pires and Vieira.
Are you guessing about the names?Henry's the better talent, but I'm hoping the BullMetros pick up one of the MFs to fill a desperate need. I like what I've seen of Lindpere, the Estonian, but he doesn't have a lot of help.
No, I just listed the same names that Grant did in his tweet.I have a feeling from all the rumors going on that Red Bull will likely end up with Henry.

If things work out as expected with the new DP rules, it won't be long before there is a serious gap in talent between some of the MLS teams that will spend (Seattle, Toronto, LA, NY etc) and the ones that won't (NE, Colorado, SJ etc).

Defender runs right through Bojan and no call.

ETA: I think you could characterize Arsenal's style as "cynical" today.

Messi misses from close range - he's ticked he didn't score there.

I would love to see Messi's price in an open market. I'm thinking it would take the GNP of several European countries.
Correction. It would take the GNP of ALL European countries. OHHHHH my goodness! I'm a massive Liverpool fan but this little midget makes Torres look like a 2nd division player.

Line of the day from Andy Gray after Messi just missed a fourth on a breakaway."You see, he is overrated".
I don't know who the guy who does color for Gol TV is, but he delivers absolutely the best over the top praise for Messi (or Ronaldo)."He can't be contained with net or trident!""How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? How great is Leo Messi? Unanswerable questions, both!"

Ray Hudson
Hudson has begun to develop a cult following because of his commentating style, which consists of highly elaborate metaphors and excited, romanticized descriptions of players and goals. A weblog has been established to record Hudson's finest quotations

Eboué gets a yellow that was undeserved. Busquets was grabbing him and Eboué was trying to break free.

ETA: Pedro has a chance to put it away and goes wide with a chip when he's alone in front of the keeper. Terrible finish.

No good stream, today for me and I had a long lunch meeting.

Nice too see that my "no Song = big Messi" prediction was spot on though. I do want Arsenal to come back on them again though.

I fully understand that Arsenal was beat up injury wise but that might have been the most dominating game I have ever seen from one player. It's one thing when you destroy Sunderland, Udinese or Xerez but when you make a top 10 side look like they have no clue...yikes.

With all their players out, I don't think you can consider this Arsenal squad a top 10 team. Top 25, yes, but top 10 in the world right now? No way.

Also consider many main Barca starters unavailable as well.

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Chelsea’s victory at Manchester United was the most-viewed English Premier League match on ESPN’s U.S. networks despite its 7:45 a.m. EDT start last weekend.

ESPN said Wednesday that Chelsea’s 2-1 victory Saturday was seen in 420,000 homes and by 526,000 viewers. The win leapfrogged the Blues over United into first place.

The previous high was 340,000 homes and 398,000 viewers for Liverpool’s 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa last Aug. 24.

I guess every TV has about 1.3 people watching it?

On another matter, still have the 2 Union tickets available.

I was up at 5:00 AM to watch it. It was probably only the 10th Prem game I've watched all season.

uefa or whoever needs to start fining people for diving/faking contact, and then writhing on the ground. im thinking 10 grand a pop. im only 30 minutes into the game but barcelona has been pathetic so far.

was that over in the corner of the box early on in the game? if anything that was a foul by bojan, him falling down there was a joke and a half.

I'm fairly certain this comment was about the tackle at midfield that led to the Arsenal goal. I thought it was a foul too and since Fox waited a half hour to show the replay, I just assumed it was a bad call. After seeing the replay, the ref did well. Also, I'm not sure if there is more of a whiny little ##### in the game than Bojan. He annoyed the #### out of me today. Messi dove once but I actually give him a bit of a pass. Sometimes when you get hacked over and over you get tired and a little bump makes you just say #### it and dive. For the most part, Messi fights through a lot of that and I give him props for it. But Bojan was diving from the getgo.

Might not be most highlight-worthy of his 4 goals, but that 1st Messi goal was just sensational. That's a true superstar goal. The other 3 were nice too, but ### ####...the skill required for that is just insane.

Love watching Messi play. You can see the joy on his face when he scores. There is no attitude there. I thought Rooney was making waves for player of the year before his injury. If United don't advance he won't have the stage to make his case.

Rooney is definitely #2 after today.

Messi put his stamp on this season with that display.

Let's see what happens in el clásico. Should be a great game although both sides are downplaying the "this game decides everything angle." The likelihood is that this game WILL decide the winner though.

I've read all that too. They are both lying through their teeth. They know what the game means. Can't wait.

I discovered something watching the Chelsea-ManU game last weekend. ManU games are infinitely more interesting if you insert "that #######" in front of every player's name in the commentary. Example:

"That ####### Scholes boots it forward to that ####### Giggs who sends in a cross for that ####### Berbatov. That ####### Berbatov whiffs on the ball and now Drogba is racing down the field beating that ####### Vidic like the ####### that he is."

This might come as a shocker, but this same technique ALSO works for Real Madrid.

So awesome to hear the Chelsea fans singing "Who the #### are Man United?" after Joe Cole's goal. I'm still smiling.

just watching the Barca game now (followed it on Espn game-tracker live).

one thing about each of the first three Messi goals- his first touch is always absolute perfection. unbelievable stuff.

hey steve tasker- I'm not getting the love for that first goal... splain it to me. imo, a broken play that messi makes the most of with a well taken shot (set up by his sublime first touch). well struck, but didn't see anything particularly newsworth in any part of it.

Right, I actually think the last goal was the the best of the lot. Can't wait to see him in the World Cup.

fixed.I am pretty sure this works for most teams someone doesnt like. And since Chelsea is a bigger collection of thugs then Scholes is, well it works nicely.... :boxing:

And Chelsea

Predictions? I missed last weeks game so it is hard for me to comment. Not sure who I am rooting for. Would normally be Bayern by a mile, but part of me wants to see a finals rematch.

It was a bungled mess in the back, sure, but watching it in realtime, I jumped out of my seat in my house. Absolutely perfect first-touch followed by a perfect shot (both power and placement) within about a 12-inch window and between 3 defenders....all in the span of about 1 second. Out of the four goals he scored, I have to think that was the toughest from a technical standpoint. Like I said, it's not a highlight reel goal that you're going to see on Sportscenter top 10 as he didn't do anything fancy...but that was as pure a finish as I've seen in a long, long time.

It actually WAS on Sportscenter though...I never watch Sportcenter now, but it really shocked me to see them pimping Messi hard like that, even if the commentator did get his opponent wrong when talking about the World Cup.

It's pretty obvious that ESPN is going to do everything in their power to promote this WC. I predict some backlash from the beisbol idiots who won't get as much coverage of their boring-###, lame 19th century pastime "boys of summer".
