Scholes to Giggs....Giggs with a wonder-volley finish. Pure class those two. It's like they never age.
So true. I also love that Ferguson keeps playing them, especially as there is a seemingly constant call to sign/play younger players. These two have been a pleasure to watch for well more than a decade.
Barton and Scholes wtih yellows... shocker
Barton looks good in the black and white vertical stripes, IMO.
Ugh. That little sociopath is my least favorite Magpie ever. And they still have Colochinni, who is #2.
I like good Joey.Bad Joey = :scared:

that Giggs finish wasn't luck either. I've seen him hit it like that a few times before.

Scholes was just everywhere. Always open in space. Always distributing.

It would actually be really awesome if the 2 of them would come over to MLS together (i remember we were talking about Giggs as a potential DP a few weeks back).

Admirable display from Newcastle here, but United are just too good.Chicharito in for Rooney and the fans go wild.
I think Newcastle looks pretty good. Certainly better than a number of teams I saw this weekend.
Like I said in either this thread or the EPL thread, I'm not sue which team will finish higher, Newcastle or Liverpool.
Oh, come on. Liverpool looked pretty damned good against Arsenal yesterday. Played an entire half a man down and should have won the game.

Set the line for another avatar bet, big man.

10 points and this is yours through next season.

San Jose add their first Designated Player, signing Geovanni, most recently with Hull and Manchester City
tahnks for the update. in retrospect, really would've loved to see him go my StarReds, as that's a position they needed filled.
stop being greedy. NY already has 3 more DP's than NE and Colorado combined :)
gimme.I meant that I would've actually preferred him to either Henry or Marquez... blasphemy, I know- but that's the type and position of player they actually needed. Him and Marquez running the MF? Nice. Him feeding to Angel and Henry. Nice. Marquez flopping around and whining while opponents run rough-shod through the middle and Henry and Angel starve? Nice? (one game hyperbole in effect).

Ozil to Real is a done deal.

Our Barca fans must be getting a bit nervous with the Special One marshaling his troops in Madrid.

Will he put Alonzo, Khedira, CRonaldo, Ozil and Di Maria all on the field with Higuain alone up top?

That's a horrid line for me, and you know it.Make it 20 and you've got a bet. That's still quite a bit less than the spread at most books.
Did you or did you not say this and then tell me to set the line:
Like I said in either this thread or the EPL thread, I'm not sure which team will finish higher, Newcastle or Liverpool.
I'm doing you a favor giving you any points. If you don't have the guts to back up your statement, just say so.

It was an exaggeration, a bit of hyperbole. I honestly don't think that Liverpool will finish below 8th or so, and Newcastle will be mighty lucky to finish in the top half. How about 18 points?

Spurs defender just hung out keeper with an awful pass back - keeper barely got a piece of it to keep it out of the net.

Spurs get 2nd road goal

Glad Spurs were able to get 2, but watching the first half sucked. I was super excited to start, but I ended up fast forwarding through the rest.

Hope next week is better.

The Bundesliga kicks off today with defending champions Bayern hosting the '08 champions Wolfsburg. :excited:

Sadly Gol TV is not carrying the match. :kicksrock:

I've used that site to watch live broadcasts before, do they show them taped too?Feeds from atdhe will not play here at work and I'll actually be on a bus to a football game during the match. Was hoping to watch in on my DVR tonight.

Muller gets Bayern on the board in the 10th minute with a beautiful goal

CHipped a pass in, then made a run through the box

Volleyed the pass back to himself and hit it before it hit the ground, driving it past the goalie despite having a defender draped on him

This kills me ;) We can't continue to have our best young players skip past MLS and pull splinters out of their butts in their late teens/early 20's
Andy, I can understand your sentiment but many many good players spent their late teens early 20's on developmental squads and on lower tier loans like Lichaj has. Lichaj is 21 and by all accounts likely to start getting some first team action with Villa this season. With the managerial situation uncertain, that is a bit of a risk by him but from what I know, they think pretty highly of him. We'll have to see how this plays out by I had about the exact opposite reaction that you did to this news. Villa is a very good club that clearly wants him and has committed multiple years to him.
My wording was poor. I was VERY happy that Villa signed him for the next three years. I am horrified at how little playing time he has received in the previous 3 years, which are crucial for American players, especially with our lack of depth.I am not a big fan of development squads when he could be playing in MLS (assuming he was good enough, which may be an incorrect assumption on my part). I just prefer the way M. Bradley, Howard and others went about it. They were significantly seasoned in MLS before going overseas.
I agree that an MLS path is quite good for some players. But I do think everyone is a bit different and like in the NFL, Jeff Garcia can take a path playing in the CFL and turn into an all-pro late in his career and Tony Romo can hold a clipboard for 5 years or whatever.I'm not as turned off by the lack of playing time honestly. Lichaj is young and for the most part, games are just games. Training is where players improve the most and games are just used to see if they are incorporating that coaching or not. For this purpose reserve games and 4th division games are just as good as league games. In this case, when a club like Villa is investing in him and see him as a potential future starter, they are going to do their best to develop him and maximize their investment. Short term it may not be great for the Nats as he may not be game fit at the moment, but long term I think it will be very beneficial.
Lichaj went the full 90 yesterday against Rapid Vienna. Hopefully Villa can advance and he will continue to get some meaningful games. Has he been capped yet? He isn't eligible to play anywhere else is he?

Lichaj has a Polish passport

Doesn't seem Villa much care to advance given the lineup they threw out there. It would be nice to see them advance to group though just to get to see Lichaj and Guzan play some meaningful minutes.

Lichaj sounded like he had a pretty up and down game per the Guardian commentary. Apparently he made himself pretty useful on the offensive end but made some pretty glaring errors at the back. Not unexpected and I'm sure he was all nerves for his senior team debut even if it was some random game in Vienna.

And no, I don't believe he has been capped for the US as of yet. But I've never heard mention of him considering any other options. Considering he can play left back, I think we might want to get him capped though just to ensure we don't have to spend another four years bemoaning the play of Bornstein.

Well I, for one, am excited about the Tangerine-Gunner match tomorrow. I hope it's not a blowout. Man City-Liverpool is going to be a great one, too.

The reason I have become a Liverpool fan is Torres and Kuyt. But now Kuyt is thinking about leaving to Inter Milan. Please no.
ooooooh... I like the sound of that.
Sounds like Rafa's trying to get the band back together
Luckily Rafa's not in charge of the purse strings. Here's the latest from Uncle Roy:"I spoke to Massimo Moratti on Wedneday about the fact they are not going to buy Liverpool players," said Hodgson. "I believe they were only interested in two of our players and they are not going to buy them. Moratti said they are not going to do that."Aquilani is on his way out to a loan deal with Juventus that is supposed to include a 17m option to buy. That would be a fantastic deal for Liverpool.

And not a huge thing, but the Milan part is silent. It's just Inter. Just like AC Milan is just Milan.Speaking of which- the british guy that calls the Barca games always calls them Football Club Barcelona... what's up with that?

Dunno but that reminds me. I have a friend that always calls them Bark-uh. It's freaking annoying. I keep trying to explain it is short for Barcelona not Barkelona.
