The reason I have become a Liverpool fan is Torres and Kuyt. But now Kuyt is thinking about leaving to Inter Milan. Please no.
And not a huge thing, but the Milan part is silent. It's just Inter. Just like AC Milan is just Milan.Speaking of which- the british guy that calls the Barca games always calls them Football Club Barcelona... what's up with that?
Because that's their name? :goodposting: An interesting thing that goes unnoticed by a lot of people is that the names of a lot of older continental clubs are actually use English names and terms rather than local ones betraying the influence in English ex-pats in spreading the game around the turn of the 20th century. e.g. it is AC Milan rather than AC Milano see also Genoa instead of Genova, Athletic Club Bilbao rather than Atletico Bilbao and so on. See also South America where you have River Plate (rather than Rio de Plata), Newell's Old Boys, Corinthians etc.

I don't hear anybody else calling them by their full name, just like I don't hear anybody say Internazionale Milan... but I don't the ins and outs of Spanish Soccer- is it normal in Spain to spell i all out like that in a tv broadcast? Z?

I have no idea to be honest. Maybe it's just that guys schtick? Do you get the Sky Sports feed for Spanish games?

Muller gets Bayern on the board in the 10th minute with a beautiful goalCHipped a pass in, then made a run through the boxVolleyed the pass back to himself and hit it before it hit the ground, driving it past the goalie despite having a defender draped on him
:) Schweinsteiger with a goal at 90+1 to win it 2-1. :excited:

Dunno but that reminds me. I have a friend that always calls them Bark-uh. It's freaking annoying. I keep trying to explain it is short for Barcelona not Barkelona.
not Bartha?
No, not in Catalan

Well, looks like my prediction in the EPL fantasy league thread was correct.....Arsenal don't break out the big guns for Blackpool. Wilshere in the starting XI today :goodposting:

You'd think that a team with top 4 aspirations would have a capable center defender on the bench and wouldn't have to move one of their best center mids back to cover...

not a good sign for the tangerines.
I don't think they're playing poorly. They're very aggressive, which is a good sight to see from them. Problem is that it leaves them a bit more exposed in the back, and Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world (miles ahead of Wigan, surely) when it comes to quick attacks.....especially with Arshavin and Walcott in the lineup together.

Arsenal buzzing now....Arshavin and Chamakh narrowly miss opportunities, both setup by Walcott...hope they don't come back to regret those.

Well, to be fair, Blackpool finished 6th in the Championship last year and field largely the same team this year. Despite Arsenal sitting some of their better players, they really should be able to handle a team like this. You won't see much of it today, but Arsenal are pretty weak in the back this year, I think. United/Chelsea/City are probably going to slice them apart....I know Koscielny is on a red card, but Alex Song is just not a center back, and Gael Clichy has gone from a bright spot an eyesore on the field in a matter of years.

If only Theo could play like this against the big boys....3-0

Wilshere redeems himself after some poor play with a nice pass to set it up....that goal was all Walcott though.

I'm a big fan of Moyes and its impressive the team he has put together given his budget, but for the life of me I don't get what he sees in Bilyaletdinov

Stoke just got effin HOSED. Please get some goal line tech going fifa. Terrible. Gareth Bale is a stud btw. And does anyone know when my verizon fsc+ and fsc and gol will be HD? I just got it but I will pay the fine and switch to direct tv if they dont get me HD soon.

Ekoku just RIPPING the Wigan defense on the Malouda goal. He's easily my favorite commentator now after the World Cup....very glad that FSC has him (not sure if it's a Sky Sports feed or what).

He has reason to imo...the dude marking Malouda just stood there.
Not only that, the guy who was marking him when he made the pass (maybe 3 passes before the goal was scored) about 30 yards from goal just let him run free into the box and didn't track back.

 That backside defender should have been doing everything he could to get to the goal line to cover his GK. If he was doing that he'd have been the first to the ball. Like Ekoku said, he was ball watching.

How about Craig Bellamy's free kick goal for Cardiff today? Absolute missile.

Also, how often does a player on loan become a team's captain? I know Bellamy is Welsh, and I'm sure it has something to do with that, but damn...he's not even on their books and he's their captain. I don't know if I've ever heard that before.

Guy is a leader...you learn that at eastlands...Now I gotta go search for the goal. Love that guy.

Drogba had a terrific game for Chelsea today

Love that they are putting the hammer down on these teams early

Schedule is cake, but they are sending a message for sure

Some guys lead thru inspiration. Some guys lead by example. Craig Bellamy leads with a 9 iron :blackdot:

Arsenal looked pretty darn good today. I didn't see the red, but it definitely was a killer for Blackpool. The teams at the top of the standings should make quick work of this team, I agree. Hopefully the middle of the pack will be more forgiving. Clearly, they need some help on defense at this level.

Does ESPN pick which games they show? After last weeks great opener, I hated to see a blowout this week. Surely they saw that coming? I know their was some interest because of Blackpool's promotion, but still.

I think they're pretty set in stone already, but I could be wrong. They'll generally show one of the "big 5" on Saturday morning....Chelsea played at 12:30, United plays tomorrow, and City/Liverpool play on Monday. Arsenal was the only one playing this morning. I think people tend to tune out if it's not one of the real "name" teams in the league...you'll see an Aston Villa/Everton/Spurs game, but it'll be rarer.ETA: looks like the next few Saturday ESPN games are:Arsenal/BlackburnStoke/West Ham (WTF?)City/ChelseaWigan/Wolves (again, WTF?)Spurs/Everton

I just looked up the schedule on epltalk and it looks like you're right. Bummer.

Nobody watched Stuart Holden and the Wanderers take on West Ham (and Barrerra... meskin)? Holden playing the first two games as a paired flat central MF, getting a lot of responsibility.

But Holden needs to break out of US player mode- all two touch, quick passing/running- and take some mofos on. He needs to and his team desperately needs him to, as they look toothless outside of Petrov, who looks long in the tooth himself. I had to stop watching at around 60 minutes, but the "its' a funny old game" adage couldn't have been more true about this one- West Ham completely pounded and owned Bolton the first half but couldn't score (including a missed pk and another pk missed by the ref). Bolton scores on a freak play in the 2nd half and then again as the Hammers pushed to get the equalizer.

Each team has to be shown a minimum number of times across the season per the TV contracts. I expect the various networks try to work through a lot of the less obviously interesting teams early on in the season so that down the stretch they have more of a free hand to pick games that are pertinent to the title race and relegation battle.

btw- I watched it on Fox Espanol.... caught the announcers, about 20 minutes in after a couple of nice plays by Barrera, calling him "player of the match" in English... repeatedly.

God what an awful ending to what has been a really good game.

ETA: Not over yet after that nice PK save.
