Nice job by Hangerland to redeem himself....not sure how it looks to others but ManU just doesn't look like they have that invincibility factor of years past where they would have held a lead like that with unrelenting offensive pressure.

On DVR here....great reply from Fulham....completely listless in the first 25 minutes before pulling one back and being arguably the better team in the 2nd half.

That was a pretty good weekend of Premier League play. With Man City v Liverpool tomorrow to top it off.

Always good to see Man U struggle.

Also, Ipswich wins another away match. Undefeated through 3. Last year it took until friggin' halloween to get a win. A weak Bristol City team as opponents next week, too.

On another note, I am headed to Vegas Sept 17-19 and would like to put a little money down on the footy. I've never done anything desides straight single games before, but am thinking a parlay might be the way to go. Any tips on which sporbooks will have soccer sheets? The schedule is below for any insights on picks.

Depending on the line, I think betting the house on Chelski v Blackpool. That will be a bloodbath.

AFC Wimbledon beat Tamworth to stay perfect through the first three games in the Conference. The Dons are tied at the top of the table with Luton Town as the only two teams with nine points.

Theres chaos in Anfield. Liverpool down 3-0 to City. Mascherano refuses to dress. Egad!!
Yeah, I'm a Liverpool fan and a Chicago Bears fan. Should be a nice long Fall.
fireroyhodgson.com domain name is still available
Meh. It's not him, it's "the bloody yanks" that have driven them into the ground, trying to squeeze any sort of profit they can get out of them. Liverpool had a chance to be backed by the Chinese government and have more money than Man City (a good thing, bad thing, depending on how you look at it) and they screwed that up, too.

I know everyone is on the hating City bandwagon at the moment, but they really are a fascinating team to watch. Their style is still coming along as obviously guys are still introducing themselves before games (Hi, my name is James and someone gave me this powder blue kit). But they looked pretty darn impressive today. Tremendous skill through the midfield and I really do think they are going to be a real factor in virtually every competition this season.

But I still haven't decided if I like them. I love Tevez and Yaya. I hate De Jong and Mancini. I love that they are not Liverpool, ManU, Chelsea or Arsenal. I hate that they are doing this by outspending the rest of Europe. But I recognize that even though I don't like that last part, that is generally what has kept the Haves as the Haves and the Have Nots as the Have Nots. Let's not pretend that Barca, Milan, Real, Chelsea, et al haven't spent ridiculous amounts the last decade. I refuse to hate City for being new to that table. But....I still don't know if I like them either.

I think Real has spent more than City in the last 2 years. I could be wrong though.

It wasn't that long ago that they were relegated to the third tier (now League One). It took a playoff victory on penalties (and Nicky Weaver's goalkeeping heroics) to keep them from starting this century along with Wrexham and S####horpe.5 teams from the 98-99 2nd division are now in the Premiership: MCFC, Stoke, Wigan, Fulham & Blackpool. So while there's gridlock at the very top of English soccer, there's lots of movement in the levels beneath.

Dunno about City's total, but Real spent 330 million euros on players the last two seasons. But, hey, atleast they got 40 million for Sneijder and Robben combined! Also, Real has paid 299.5 in transfers for its current starting 11.

City has really sweet shirts and has accumulated a lot a players that I like. I'm not a fan but I don't dislike them, which is more than I can say for most EPL teams.

I stand by my mid-summer assessment that City will challenge Chelsea and United for the title, with Arsenal finishing a narrow 4th ahead of Spurs, Liverpool, et al.Yes, City have gotten to where they are, from pretty much nowhere, by just spending a ####-ton of money. But that's what most of the big boys do. If you're a fan of Chelsea/United/Arsenal/Liverpool, you CAN'T be upset with City's surge. That's how it works. The long-standing top clubs have managed to stay the top clubs because they can afford the top transfers.....and now a new team can afford it.I do kinda feel for the longtime City fans though. Not sure if we have any here. Finally you get ridiculous ownership and your team is one of the world's elite, and the fans who couldn't care less in prior years are all of a sudden diehards (assumption on my part). I remember watching an occasional City game here or there a few years ago, and they could barely fill maybe 60% of the stadium.....and now they're jam-packed.Hell, I remember running a few FIFA manager seasons with City....the team's stars were Andy Cole and Darius Vassell....and this was like 5 years ago! What a difference a change in ownership makes.

A good friend and co-worker is a Manchester native and life-long City fan. I remember the day the news came out about their new arab ownership, with the stories of the incredible wealth and immediate talk of all the players they would be buying. I emailed him and told him to be prepared to be hated, as I went through the same thing overnight in 2001 with Chelsea.

Oh you don't need new ownership. Pretty much everyone already hates Liverpool.

I think he meant from a video game perspective

RedBulls starting to flex their DP muscles... 4-1 trouncing of Toronto to open up some space between 2nd and 3rd in the East with Marquez hitting a really nice first MLS goal.

Werder Bremen went from in complete control of their tie to behind after giving up 2 goals in the first 13 minutes.
How sick are those jerseys though? I need to get one.
Assume you mean the green home kits. Those are nice. They are wearing whites today which I don't really like
Yeah I'm going off what they wore last week. Are these same design different color scheme, or entirely different?

Similar but iirc the homes have multiple shades of green and looked sharp. This is just all white with a red squiggly on it. Surprisingly few teams have green kits. Red. Blue. White. And if you are spanish or italian maybe some pimpish colors like yellow or pink.

Bremen scores 3 minutes into stoppage time to make it 3-1 and send this tie into extra time. They were so unenergetic that I figured this was over. But now all the momentum is with the road side. I love me some champions league

Green is traditionally the color of the keeper's shirt. I don't know which came first though

Bremen through 5-4 on aggregate. Quite an exciting game that meant about 20mil euro to both sides.

Big result for the Bundesliga as well. I remember someone talking about how close their coefficient was last season to gaining a spot so this obviously helps a lot.

Wow. Incredible stuff.
And now they score early in the extra time and Sampdoria is on their heals. Amazing turn around here.
Terrific comeback!! Congrats Bremen fans.
