Possibly big news being reported that FIFA has backed down and will release the results of all rounds of voting (which may make sense now that things are being leaked)

England out too apparently in the first round
4-4-2 is throwing darts at a board I think.
That's coming from a Henry Winter, a BBC writer, not 4-4-2 and it just scrolled on Bloomberg too
4-4-2 tweeted the same thing
Apparently everyone is getting it from the English delegation. Feeling is the Spain/Qatar alliance was victorious according to the Telegraph which is why they are going to need to release the voting.

Well good for them for pulling it off. If they did above board all the better.

It is a good thing FIFA reads their own reports where Qatar was ranked last amongst all the bidding nations. :)

What a shame for England, US and Aussie.

After a few years go by and everyone lets the stink go away, my guess is that it will be US vs England for 2026 unless China is able to get the rules changed.

The next bidding process won't be until 2018 I think.

Of course they will change the rules, after all Qatar is Arab (read the FIFA press statements, they've already set this process in motion). The entire thing is a joke though. Russia I can understand, but having the World Cup centered around a 200,000 small city that isn't even built yet is just a joke. Just a joke. I'm sure almost every FIFA bigwig has their consulting/construction company setup to make money off this.

Can they go back to Europe that quickly again? I guess it is the USA's cup to lose in 2026.

Russia is feasible, but Qatar is a joke. Who the hell wants to go to a World Cup where you can't even walk outside?

It will be intersting to see who gets the construction contracts. A lot of favors are going to get passed back.

SkySports reporter speculating that Blattner is up for re-election next year. His competition is said to be a Qatarian delegate. Interesting....

What rule changes are we talking about here?
There's some sort of rules (although I'm not sure of the specifics, someone like Andy would know more) where the Cup won't go to two countries in the same federation in back-to-back cups. There have been rumors of China putting together a serious bid for 2026. Qatar plays in the Asian Federation with China, and will host 2022.There's also been talk of changing the voting process to make things more transparent...who knows about that, though?

Wonder if an Israeli team would be allowed to participate in the Cups in 2022, assuming they qualified. Wasn't it Qatar who banned an Israeli tennis player from a tournament, or was that their neighbor to the south, Dubai?

Same guy also tossed out if Brazil fail and drop out that the US or England could be slid in as a replacement now they aren't in line.

LOL, looks like Democratic Party politicians are 0 for 2 in trying to influence international selection committees... :goodposting:
This has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with politic$.
Well, our two "world leaders", Pres. Obama and Bill Clinton each tried to "influence" a selection committee, Obama the IOC into giving the Olympics to Chicago and now Slick Willie tries to steer the WC to the US. And both struck out.

I think I just figured out the next location to spread "democracy" in the middle east.

Seriously though I blame GWB in part due to the invasion of Iraq. I think this is (in part) punishment for that.

Yeah, I think Brazil has/will have lots of problems with both the 2014 Cup and 2016 Olympics.
