U.S. national team midfielder Michael Bradley “wants to leave and doesn’t play a role here anymore,” Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Lucien Favre told Germany’s Kicker Sportmagazin, leaving the 24-year-old in professional limbo as the European season kicks off.Bradley spent last spring on loan with England’s Aston Villa amid rumors he was unhappy at the struggling German club and angling for a permanent move. But he played sparingly in Birmingham and was returned to ‘Gladbach at season’s end. Reports suggested new Villa manager Alex McLeish canceled an agreement to purchase Bradley’s rights.Michael Bradley is hoping to find a new club for the upcoming season. (AP photo)He has one year left on his contract with the German team, which he joined three years ago.‘Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told Kicker that Bradley’s desire to leave left the club in a “precarious situation,” and that the midfielder can’t expect to practice and play “as if nothing had happened.” Its season opener is Sunday at Bayern Munich.Last month, one of Bradley’s representatives said the player turned down an offer to join Spartak Moscow. The Russian league isn’t as strong as the Bundesliga, and Bradley reportedly wasn’t interested in living there. But the agent, Brian Eylert, also was quoted by MLSSoccer.com saying Favre and Bradley “had some very good conversations,” and that, “we’re convinced he’s going to be a regular starter.”Bradley has been linked to clubs in Italy, Turkey and France as well as elsewhere in Germany. But Eylert said ‘Gladbach’s asking price for Bradley “is too much” and that “money is tight in Germany right now. Most teams aren’t spending freely.”Now that its relationship with Bradley is over, however, ‘Gladbach might be willing to lower its demands. Either Bradley leaves for nothing next summer or the club gets something now in return for his rights. The transfer window closes Aug. 31 and won't re-open until January.

This was all explained previously. My St Pauli team was relegated.
Oh, ok. So when your EPL team gets relegated you'll grab Man U or Chelsea. Gotcha.

Happy Charity Shield day everyone. I am back from my self imposed ban. Missed some interesting items biggest of which was Klinsmann. Looking forward to the first game this week against Mexico.

Some of you may remember me posting about a 15 year old kid the Revolution signed late last year as the first player from their academy to make the jump, name being Diego Fagundez.

He is 16 now but still looks like he is barely 14. Might be the smallest player I have ever seen, listed at 125 pounds and that might be soaking wet.

Last night he got into his very first MLS league game in the second half against Chivas USA. With in a couple of minutes and his first real touch of the ball, he made a sweet move into the box and got brought down for a penalty.

A few minutes later he made a very veteran like move of a slight shirt tug to get a bad bounce around a defender and smartly tucked home his first goal.

Not sure it was possible to have a better start as such a young player. Even though they lost, the Revs fans were as energized as they have ever been as they recognized how special the situation was.

Diego is now the second youngest player to score in MLS history, only beaten by Freddy Adu.

Here is a clip of his goal. Thank god for the moronic hair cut else you might not be able to see him he is so tiny

Let's all hope Juan Pablo Angel makes the US his home after his retires from MLS. His 8 year old son is making the kids he plays against look like traffic cones. He already has decent sized highlight packages of him on YouTube. His skills for an 8 year old are just sick. Obviously impossible to project, but it would be hard not to be excited considering how advanced he is and his DNA.

Awesome goal celebration for Nani

There were 3 or 4 situations like that today where the ball took a high bounce in front of the last man back for City. Just got unlucky/sloppy at the worst possible time.

Jeez - epic fail by City
I think they did incredibly well considering they don't have Tevez (or Aguera) playing. Last year their offense was quite weak without Tevez. They are getting better, much better. That shouldn't be surprising though given the fact that they seems to have weeded out a core team and are now simply adding depth and shoring up positions. With literally no spending limits that was bound to happen eventually. It was just going to take time.I have no doubt that in the next three years they will win the league at least once.

Rough start to the season for Bayern. Same as last year they just can't seem to finish. Neuer's error on the goal will not help him win over fans. :wall:

Jozy scores a late goal (but timely/important) on his AZ debut - link - in a 3-1 win over PSV. He did not start but came on as a 65th minute sub.

Also, interesting fact that I just saw on Twitter - Sir Alex took over at Manchester United in 1986. During his tenure, they have never lost a game in which they had a 2-goal lead. United hasn't lost a game in which they had a 2-goal lead since 1984!

Ok, guys, my Blackpool pick did not work out so well last year, although they were fun to watch and gave us some thrills; I will still follow them one rung down. It is now time to pick an EPL team for 2011-2012. I am taking applications. Domestically, I am a Philly sports fan. Where do I go from here? What about the new teams that just came up? I'm looking for a scrappy, no respect kind of team, that will be entertaining to watch. TIA.

Christo is probably the guy to talk to about QPR.Norwich have great uniforms (I like em, at least) and a ridiculous color scheme. They were in the EPL not TOO long ago...maybe 7 years ago? They've also got an American - Zak Whitbread - who stands to have a significant impact this year.Swansea will be the first Welsh team ever to play in the EPL. Given my rich Welsh heritage, I should probably know more about em, but sadly, I don't. I've always preferred Cardiff City of the two teams.

They're scrappy alright--from the owner to the manager to the players. They have an EPL history. And they picked up a few decent players with EPL experience this summer. They have a decent chance of staying up.And being in London means they have a leg up on the other two attracting talent.

I'm scaling back on the PSG attention since the Qataris have bought in. I have nothing against Arabs but I'm not about supporting teams who outspend everybody else in their league.

The whole Welsh angle is interesting. How is that even possible? Can a team from Scotland or Northern Ireland get into the EPL as well?
The 6 largest Welsh clubs have competed under the English league system for awhile now. Cardiff City and Swansea have been Championship/League One level teams for several years and are generally the two best. Wrexham, Newport, Colwyn Bay, and Methyr Town also play in the lower levels of the English system. I'm not really sure why, though...that's just how it works out. There is a separate Welsh league system, although most teams are semi-professional. They are generally regarded as being of lower quality than the 6 playing in the English system. The Welsh teams that play in the English system have recently not been allowed to compete in the Welsh Cup (the FA Cup for Wales), but apparently some of the lesser teams will be playing in it this year. These teams are eligible for English tournaments, which caused a bit of a problem a few years ago when Cardiff made it to the FA Cup Final. FA Cup winner would qualify for Europe, but the terminology specified that the team would be from England; thus no one knew what would happen if Cardiff beat Portsmouth. It ended up not mattering, as Portsmouth won anyway. The FA has since amended its rules to allow Welsh teams European qualification, should they manage to do so.

Nah. There are often rumblings of the Old Firm from Scotland (Rangers, Celtic) becoming part of the EPL but it never happens.

Count me in for the Portland Timbers. They seem to be on TV a lot and the atmosphere is fantastic. This will be the first time that I've chosen a non-Dallas/Fort Worth area team in a league where DFW had someone playing (Cowboys, Rangers, Stars fan).

Should I remove them from the list, then?

There is an EPL preview show on Fox soccer channel at 4:00 eastern today. I watched it yesterday. It might give you some ideas on a new side. It will probably be on again if you miss it today

Otello, I'm not sure what you changed. I made some further edits to the original post, so it's probably easier if you just tell me which teams you changed.
