How crazy is it that neither of Fox Sports Soccer games tomorrow are Bayern/City. Stupid, lopsided Madrid and United games instead
Agreed, but I'm not overly surprised. I've learned that if ALL IMPORTANT MANCHESTER UNITED is playing their game will be the live match. The craziness is that the Man City/Bayern replay doesn't come on until around 2am! They even show a ManU replay before that. I had actually hoped that since Bayern was playing an EPL team that might get the match on at a decent time.
Reminder for any one with Direct TV. They are showing City Bayern live in HD for free (along with a ton of other UCL games live tomorrow and Wednesday).

I honestly have no idea. He has not given enough info. Some are looking at this as a net positive thinking the Saudis are now backing the Cosmos. Bell tweeted later that there is much more to come before this story settles so we just need to wait it out.

Or enlivened by Saudi $$ and interest.I thought Kemsley was the money... didn't know he had investors.

Kemsley was the money but he did not have enough to make a run at it. Just read that Bell is the unofficial mouth piece of the Cosmos so he is being fed this info.

Just adds another variable into the game now.

Ok... so you're reading that tweet the same way I am? That Kemsley- who didn't have enough money to make a legitimate run at the 100m- has had his stake bought out by Saudis, who by stereotyping inference, DO have the money?

I don't have enough information to make a guess. Instead I went to the best non media source I know about the Cosmos. Here is what he had to say.==========

I got blasted with calls when i got off my plane tonight

First off, I did not see him bailing all out coming at all - bit shocked but

1) Honestly, all my interactions with Paul is that he is a good guy and he is very passionate about the game, so I kind of wanted to see him involved.

2) We knew he was going to get other investors and if you are paying attention - Terry is running the show over there, but im shocked if he gave up all his shares.

3) I hope when he had his dealings with pepe, this was all discussed, that he was just going to be a mediator and get the ball rolling, and then step out and do real estate.

At the end of the day though - its good news. All those questioning financing, that should answer questions. There is a whole lot of money in that portion of the world now. So that should be able to satisfy the 100 Million Dollars.

Who was your non-media Cosmos source? I'm impressed.

I keep hoping that Russian Oil cat who bought the Nets was going to step in... but I guess Saudi $$ will work.

Just a regular guy on Big Soccer who follows nearly everything that has ever happened with the resurrection of the Cosmos. He has more knowledge than anyone else not directly involved but in then end he is still speculating. We need to wait until the Cosmos feed Bell enough info for a full article. Until then keeping my fingers crossed.

thank god for fox soccer plus. i feel for those of you who only have fsc, pretty ridiculous decision with the scheduling today.

I'll be at Mad Dog in the Fog today for the CL games. Join me if you're in SF.

I'll also be there for the first half of the games tomorrow. I'll be watching the second half with my brother at his office.

:confused:bailed on Baltimore so soon?
Not quite yet. I was in Sac this WE for a wedding and decided to stick around the bay for a week. My wife had a work trip so I was gonna be alone anyway. Might as well visit some friends and enjoy the awesome weather here while I'm around.

United could really pick their score in this one....even with their b-teamers, really have full control there.

BM up 2-0 vs City is kinda surprising. City needs to shake things up, this was just about the same lineup they ran out there vs Everton this weekend - one change - and no Mario available on the bench today. Stagnant.

All favorites winning, no big surprises yet...

United salvages a draw.

Given how much they pressed the last 10 minutes it's a wonder why they didn't just put in the same effort the entire game.

What an ending to the Basel/United game. If any of your friends don't like Soccer, please show them a tape of this game, if they are sports fans they will fall in love!

whoa.

united with terrible passing- entry passes to advanced players in particular- and not much giddyup until they weent down a goal.

Absolutely unacceptable game for United today at OT. They played on cruise control the first half, and figured more of the same in the second only to get blitzed and play piss poor. Late effort to grab the draw is not good. Team was missing a few key players, but still this is just awful. First, draw at Stoke, now home draw vs Basel, it seems as if they play down to their competition at times (including the sides fielded by SAF).

But, as bad as this is, you really have to wonder what's going on with $ity. No goals today, granted against a very strong Bayern team, but from reports I've heard - Dzeko went ballistic when being subbed off at the beginning of the second half. He's really offered very little of late from my view - nothing vs Everton, nothing today, need to put on his big boy pants. And then I've heard that Tevez refused to go on in the second half. His days there seem done, but Man City is tied on this one as he's got no place to go. I dunno. And Mancini is constantly #####ing that he needs more players - he really needs to concern himself more with the squad he has before going forward.

Still :hot: about today, needed a few hours to cool off. Now off to :banned:

Dzeko looked lost out there for city. I think pulling him was a good move, and I figured tevez would go in for him, but it looked like tevez had other ideas. What a punk move to do that to the teM paying your salary.

I'm honestly shocked at united's play. Ferdinand was going bonkers back there and their midfield did minimal to contain the lead and defend solidly. The should be forced to watch how Bayern played in the second half. Total domination and great organization. Even without Robben they really impressed.

Word is Tevez refused to sub in today, and Mancini has stated Tevez is finished at city.
:lmao: :lmao: Tevez should have been sold for whatever they could have got and shipped out...

United needs a holding midfielder and Cleverly back. Anderson doesnt play with urgency and often gives great setup passes to the other team in United's defensive third. Cleverly and Fletcher may be the starting duo when healthy until January. Also Vidic missing time is not helping.

I have to say of all the Euro teams I have had a chance to watch play at least 2-3 games, Bayern look the best so far in terms on consistency across league play and UCL.

Remind me, for CL is the away goal rule always in effect or just when there's a tie?
Not in the group stages.
There's a strange application of the away goals rule that can come up in the group stages. If two teams finish tied overall, the tiebreaker is head-to-head, including away goals if total goals are tied.Atletico used this role to get 3rd in their group a couple years ago, putting them in the Europa League which they eventually won.

I think a trained monkey could get more out of this team than Mancini. I'm shocked at how they perform sometimes.

Bayern is on quite a roll. 12 straight wins combined in the bundesliga, DFB Pokal and UEFA CL, with 32 goals scored and none conceded.
 32 goals in 12 games isn't really a surprise given all the firepower they have. But none conceded? That's not the Bayern I know.
 They've won 10 straight and gave up a goal in their first Bundesliga match (a loss), unless I'm missing something here.

You're correct. They're 31-1 on goals in 12 games. Someone must've thought they beat Monchengladbach in compiling that stat.

Still pretty decent.
