Bayern is on quite a roll. 12 straight wins combined in the bundesliga, DFB Pokal and UEFA CL, with 32 goals scored and none conceded.
 32 goals in 12 games isn't really a surprise given all the firepower they have. But none conceded? That's not the Bayern I know.
 They've won 10 straight and gave up a goal in their first Bundesliga match (a loss), unless I'm missing something here.

You're correct. They're 31-1 on goals in 12 games. Someone must've thought they beat Monchengladbach in compiling that stat.

Still pretty decent.
I did the compiling - misread that result when I was looking at their record earlier today at work. From what I've read, Neuer has hardly been challenged this season. Bayern's opponents are averaging 1 shot on goal per game (this was as of a week or two ago).

Seattle drew level 2-2 in the 88th minute on a brace from Alonso to become the first MLS team to advance to the quarter finals in the CCL.

Two other MLS teams have decent chances to advance but both Dallas and LA need a win in their games tomorrow.

Hmm, Chivas USA is more serious about moving than I thought. I would love it to come with a rebrand but I don't know if that is in the cardshttp://www.ocregister.com/news/santa-319124-chivas-city.html

By ANDREW GALVIN / THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTERLast week, Santa Ana's City Council approved an agreement under which the city will negotiate for six months with Chivas USA, a Major League Soccer team that shares the Home Depot Center in Carson with the LA Galaxy, about possibly moving the team to Santa Ana, where it would build a stadium of its own.The city, in the person of Mayor Miguel Pulido, and Chivas USA have been in on-again, off-again talks about a possible move since at least 2007, when The Register first reported on the discussions. While talks until now have been informal, Chivas USA has indicated a desire to enter more formal negotiations with a view to building a stadium and practice fields on the site of Willowick Golf Course in northwest Santa Ana, Pulido said. Hence the six-month agreement. But when I asked Chivas USA's general manager, Jose Domene, about entering formal negotiations with Santa Ana, he said, "I haven't heard of this.""We have been in talks with the city of Santa Ana, as well as four other cities," Domene said. "We haven't signed with any of them or committed to any exclusivity or any type of negotiation."Domene said Santa Ana, with its many amateur soccer leagues and the Mexican roots of much of its population, offers the kind of demographics that Chivas USA,  (a sister team to Mexico's Club Deportivo Guadalajara, popularly known as Chivas), is seeking. However, "this is the first I've heard of any negotiation period," he said."If formality means putting things in writing on what a potential project could be, then I would say yes," Domene said. "We'll consider their bid, their options, just like we'll consider everyone else."When I got back to Pulido and told him what Domene had said, Pulido said I needed to talk to Antonio Cue, one of the owners of Chivas USA, to get the real scoop on the formal talks. So I called Chivas USA back and asked to speak to Cue. Rodrigo Ochoa, a Chivas USA spokesman, told me Cue was traveling and unavailable, but that Cue would tell me the same thing Domene had told me.The negotiating agreement with Chivas USA that the City Council approved last week includes a signature line to be filled in by a representative of Chivas USA. I asked Pulido if he expected anyone from Chivas USA to actually sign the document. "Not necessarily," he said. "I don't want to negotiate the negotiations. I want to get right into it."Pulido said he'll be meeting with Cue this week and will try to prod the co-owner to make some sort of public statement about the existence of formal talks.

Caught the second half of that- Seattle looked the better team, IMO, even in the downpour away on that cheap looking turf field.

Should be an excellent game tonight in LA with the Galaxy hosting Morelia. Morelia is through with a draw while LA has a near absolute must win tonight.

Looks like the Rapids have given up hope in CCL (they are in a tough spot to be sure). The organization decided to send a reserve team and the assistant coach to El Salvador to play Metapan tonight.

Yeah it looked even worse than the Seattle crap turf. Oh that reminds me. Vancouver is moving into the renovated BC Place this week. This stadium has the latest and greatest turf field. Two teams in the French first division use it and both Liverpool and Bayern Munich have just installed it on their training grounds. I am very interested to see it.

Crap. Looks like no Holden in a US uniform for a while. :( ===============

AMSTERDAM — The full road back to fitness for Bolton ace Stuart Holden will now take a little longer. His club revealed on Wednesday that the US midfielder will go back on the shelf for a standard follow-up surgery on his left knee. Bolton suffered a hairline fracture of the condyle (a round bump on the bone near the knee joint) during a match against Manchester United on March 19."Obviously I'm disappointed as I've worked so hard the last 6 months," Bolton tweeted on Wednesday, "but in the grand scale of things its only a minor blip :) ! Thx every1!A Bolton spokeswoman confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Holden will undergo the procedure in the coming days, and the former Houston Dynamo star is expected to be back in the selection mix by mid-November."It was looking likely that the operation could be scheduled for next summer," Wanderers boss Owen Coyle told the club's official website. "But after follow-up consultations with the specialists we have brought the date forward."Holden made a cameo return with 90 minutes in a Carling Cup win over Aston Villa last week before doctors altered his recovery course. Despite missing the final eight EPL games last term, the 26-year-old was named Bolton's Player of the Season.Moving on for now without Holden, Wanderers will try to climb off the bottom of the EPL standings and snap a five-game losing streak when they host Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

:sadbanana:seems like he really has been working his ### off- AND his team desperately needs him in there. that is sad news.

I only saw the first half of the Valencia game, but Chelsea looked to be far better today. Was the penalty a legit handball?
I watched it with the sound turned off... I didn't see it touch his hand at all. His hand was up, but then it hit off his head- so I assume the ref thought it hit his hand. Or I didn't see it clearly.

Well not the most elegant game but very exciting as the Gals pulled out the must win in extra time to win 2-1 over Morelia.
Well put- I'm sure somewhere, somebody was playing D, but wow- last second heroics. And btw- LD looked awfully good tonight- touch and vision just so much quicker and on than his team-mates or most of the Morelia team; he looked like he was on another level. That meg at the top of the box in the first half was filthy- too bad he didn't finish it.

I agree. There was one play where he tracked back on defense and intercepted a ball that made it look like everyone was standing still.

The Gals did ok with out Becks and Keane. Hopefully both will be available for the last game that can put them through.

The result of the Rapids game is in a spoiler since it will be shown on tape delay in a few minutes

The Rapids sent a reserve team tonight to Metapan. The Rapids head coach didn't even make the trip. Some how they pulled off a very unlikely 3-1 win which all of a sudden puts them into second place in their group. Their last game is at Santos

They got the result, but they were dreadful up front. They created some opportunities, but nobody looked ready or even wanting them- a bunch of guys except for Juninho and LD (and Magee, who's been great this year) who looked scared with the ball in front of goal. And pardon my pet peeve- but I've been watching Barrett play since the youth level; he's terrible. Honestly. No touch. No vision. He's got a little bit of pace and can bull his way into positions in front of goal to poach his share. But good god.

Pappa!!!!!!!!!!
Pappa!!!!!!!!!!
And one more Pappa!!!! They are crushing a decent RSL in Salt Lake tonight. The Fire are really showing something late in the year. Might be too late to make the playoffs but they are peaking at a great time with the Open Cup Final next week with its automatic bid to the CCL next year.
I got caught up in the baseball and missed the 3rd goal. The Fire have been a completely different team over the last two months. The turnaround has a lot do with Pardo hitting his stride with the team and giving them the possession to take advantage of the speed of Oduro in particular on a more consistent basis. As for RSL, I haven't seen them much. Were they particularly chippy tonight or do they always play like that?

Yeah Barrett and Christmann are just terrible players. No idea why Magee came off at half. Announcers speculated an injury. I would prefer to see Keane and Magee start up front for them.

They are usually a gritty side but not chippy. Beckerman is so important to that team. Should be a great Open Cup final next week. The pre sales indicate that there should be a record crowd for that game in Seattle.

Sucks about holden. So, anyone want to take a crack on predictions for the CL semis and finals?
Too early for me, I need to see the quarter final match ups first. If something strange happens like Man U coming in second in their group(just as an example) that could cause a ripple affect.

Pretty good article on the challenges facing Bradley in Egypt. Kind of interesting because I have never had a tie to African soccer. This gives me some one to follow during WCQhttp://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/columnist/carlisle_jeff/id/7029879/bob-bradley-new-job-egyptian-national-coach-boost-credibility-us-soccer-jeff-carlisle
I used to follow Cameroon because- and I'm sure I've mentioned this a billion times already- I got a chance to play against them when I was in Germany with the NCal u-19 state team. I got megged about 60 times. Also got to have a drink with Roger Milla (I had no idea who he was) and talk about nuclear proliferation and Ronald Reagan along with my gb (who was also on my club team) who happened to be going to the Naval Academy the next year. We had different takes on the whole thing (I was on Milla's side... and I also spoke a smattering of HS french, so I was doing some translating). I hit the best shot of my life that game- dipping and bending into the upper V- that Thomas N'Kono, who was standing on the PK spot, took one springing step backwards into a massive leap to get to the upper right corner and punch over the top. The game, that shot and save, and the drinks with Milla- massive highlights of my life (Cameroon game, Kid #1 birth, high score on Missile Command, Wedding, other stuff, kid #2 birth)

Absolutely those two- or even Keane alone, with Magee and LD running the gaps (ala the USMNT).Oh- I had meant to mention... Gonzalez was another player last night that stood above the crowd for me. I was really impressed with him in a way I haven't been previously. He's always been solid, but this was the first time I saw the next level with him. He won every ball convincingly (enough so that Morelia seemed to just try to avoid his area) and was also distributing the ball well. good stuff.

 Cool storyAnd a video for the young ins out there. When watching this realize that it is the World Cup and he was friggan 38 years old at the time.

Pretty good MLS game on ESPN2 tonight with Phili hosting DC. First time Adu will face his former club since he left them many years ago. Game starts at 8:00pm eastern.

Blanco checking in on the Maquez mess

==============================

Finally, former Chicago Fire playmaker Cuauhtemoc Blanco offers some advice to the New York Red Bulls’ Rafael Márquez: “You can’t speak badly of your teammates. Before anything else, you owe them respect because it’s your second home. You share every moment with them.”

Looking at the CCL standings is interesting

With only one round of games left, here are some observations

1) Only two teams have advanced and only two teams have been eliminated. All other teams can advance

2) A minimum of 2 MLS teams and a maximum of 4 MLS teams can advance

3) While all 5 MLS teams have the luxury of controlling their own destiny, Dallas and Toronto play each other in the last round assuring that one team advances and one team goes home.

4) The Rapids should have been eliminated by now but that extremely unlikely win last night (guy who scored the first goal was his first ever pro game) puts them in an interesting spot. Granted they have to go to Santos which is not going to be easy but they lucked out in that Santos is one of the 2 teams who has already qualified and will likely start a reserve team. And even if they lose to Santos, they still go through if the other game in the group ends up in a tie.

5) Group C is crazy in that every team can still win group on last day.
