That shake snub by Suarez was one of the more selfish things I've seen in a while.
I agree that he should have shaken his hand, maybe stop, give him a smile and a little hug, and put the whole mess to an end. However, I still don't think he did anything other than jaw against a guy who was doing just as much jawing, and I can understand being upset towards the guy who caused you to get an 8 match ban. Evra incited it with the hand grab, almost killed Ferdinand in the first minutes trying to take him out, incited a tunnel bustup, and then incited it further by celebrating right in front of him when all he was doing was trying to leave the pitch.Everyone will pile on Suarez, who is too immature for his own good, but the only classless display today was by Evra, who is a liar and an epic %^&*@!. Does anyone know if this is Landon's last EPL game? I think it might be although he may be available for the FA Cup match next week
Post game show just said it was his last EPL game and he will play the FA Cup before returning. Post game now all talking that he needs to stay on. The Brit says everyone wants him to stay, but it is up to Donovan. Wynaldo praising Landon, but questions his ambition.

Waldo is an idiot. He sounds as moronic as Friedel did before Friedel had to back peddle 100 yards to try and make himself not look like a jerk. Waldo thrives on being a jerk as it is his schtick. It is not up to Landon, it is up to the Galaxy and they already said no to Keane's extension. Red Bull already said no to Henry's extension, I doubt that LA, with the CCL about to start, is going to extend him unless the money is outrageous and I don't think Everton have the budget for that kind of move.

Henry scores in the 90th to give Arsenal a late winner! These MLS loans have done fantastic this season to the EPL.
So that's a game winner for his first game back and his last with the team, isn't it? That script would get thrown out of Hollywood for being too far-fetched.

I agree with your points on Wynaldo. The Briish guy brought up that "it is ultimately up to Landon to stay if he wanted to" and Wynaldo piled on that. It seems they think he should dig his heels in the ground and pull a Tevez to try to stay. I don't agree with that, but I do wish he never signed his last LA contract and went over at that point. I know that's selfish of me. I don't blame hi for not wanting to leave SoCal. I don't want to leave it either.

I am not sure the first game back was a winner. I think it was just a late goal if memory serves. This is his last EPL game but like Landon he will be available for the FA Cup match next week I think.

Just looked it up. It was a game winner in the FA Cup against Leeds.

Yeah, all good points you made. Even though Landon is very well paid, he likely left some money on the table by staying in MLS (although it may be evened out by increased sponsorship). As a US fan who believes that the best way our top 25ish national team can become a more top 12ish team is via the advancement of the domestic league and Donovan, as the show piece American player, has certainly helped fuel the growth of the league in the last 5 years, so I am not unhappy that he stayed. Landon is a interesting case. When he was younger, he was a better player but mentally he wanted no part of Europe. Now his mental side is much better but physically he has regressed. It would have been fun to see Landon give Europe an honest try back when he was 25 and faster than everyone on the field. Now he is the classic power pitcher who has lost a few miles on his fast ball and is reinventing himself as a smarter pitcher who can beat you with skills outside of speed.

That is so sweet to have what is likely his last time in the England have some cool moments.

Not sure what you are getting at here. Don't understand the smiley. Both Landon and Henry have one more game next week right?

Just pointing out you said "I think..." And that I already posted what the deal is. That's, uh, what that smiley is like for and stuff.
You posted about info about Landon. The "I think" was about Henry after you said it may have been Henry's last game. If you posted info about Henry, I missed it, sorry.

I think I misread your post. Thought you said you think Donovan will be available for the FA Cup, not you think Henry, like Donovan, will be available. Thought you missed me posting that Donovan will be available for the Cup game.

I hope AVB has his CV up to date.
I'm not sure what you can do when one team wants to work and the other doesn't. Perils of taking over a team of veteran prima donnas.
Unfortunately for him the megalomanic in charge doesn't accept those sorts of excuses.Oh, and Suarez is a punk.

I was unsure about Saha, but my God he's on fire. Two goals in the first half of his first game. Sometimes I guess you just need a change.

If I remember his Fulham days, Saha has always played best with a striker partner. Spurs are a good fit because they can usually boss the midfield with four.

That seems to be how it's working. His role off of Adebayor is pretty much as a poacher. Adebayor and the midfield are doing most of the work. Everton asked him to do a lot more which was probably beyond his years a bit (and perhaps the work rate he was willing to put forth). If Tottenham can give him new life as a poacher then it's good all around, especially since it didn't cost Tottenham anything to get him.

Man U fans and Fergie should just enjoy the win, but can't help but ##### and moan about Suarez. Talk about classless, look in the mirror, you red nosed poof.
I thought I read somewhere that said Fergie thought that Evra went too far after the game with his antics. If Suarez doesn't shake at the beginning, that's on him. He would have been crucified in the press the same way. Evra can't let it go, though. Has to grab him, has to try and talk to him face to face in the tunnel, then dances like he won the CL after the game. IMO Suarez should have put the club, fans and the game of football ahead of his ego and just shook hands. At that point it's not only about you, it's way bigger than you. That's why I called it selfish.

I completely agree. But the one sided view the story receives is not fair, and disgusting. Evra should be lambasted as well, but escapes all scrutiny as "the victim".

Ok... why should Evra be lambasted? For claiming racism?Everything I've seen of Evra on the pitch- seems to handle himself well, IMO. I don't see fakery, diving, histrionics or anything else but playing hard. Does he use some kind of whispered gamesmanship in his one-on-one battles? No idea. Probably. Everyone does. I've not seen anything that would lead me to believe that he'd lie about something- so I'm curious why people would think he would? Not saying they're wrong in thinking that, just saying that I haven't seen or heard anything myself. OF everything I know about him, the only thing I"d say was bad- and it's really bad- was his training ground actions at WC 10. But that wouldn't make me call him a liar- a selfish #######, yeah- but not a liar.Again- what I've seen of Suarez on the field: fakery, diving, histrionics, hacking... makes me think less of him as a player/person than Evra. JMHO. And again, I actually really appreciate and like the rest of Suarez's game- I even forgive the hacking as a forward being overly aggressive/working hard on defense (ala Tevez, Kuyt, etc... which I like). And fwiw, I think his handball v Ghana in the WC was the right thing to do for him- and he payed the price with the Red Card.So today- he was clearly forced by club to issue his apology, but even still- that's good enough for me. I'm sorry, let's move on with it. Should've done that originally and this would have all been far less of an issue.eta: Evra's post game celebration right in front of Suarez was also pretty classless... so there's a second thing.eta2: And the one-sided thing about this... again, unless you're saying Evra fabricated this, I don't see where his role in this is anything but right (aside from the above). Suarez should be treated one-sided here- and he didn't even step up and apologize.

Because if you go back and watch the first match, he did way more jawing than Suarez. Suarez was abusing him down the flank, and Evra didn't like it. Suarez then called him something that isn't racist in his country, something his own keeper calls him, and suddenly it's racism. You can paint a rosy picture of him if you like, but he's not a saint in this. That's what I can't stand.

Just finished the Barca-Osasuna game. Oof. Refs cost Barca a 3 goal differential on bad offsides calls. (2 taken away and one awarded) Real has it all but clinched at this point. Time to focus on the Copa and the Champions League. The kids played pretty well though. Thiago, Tello, Cuenca. Sanchez also had a great game. Real's superstar depth might be what is winning them the title this year, but at least Barca is developing another set of their own players very nicely.

Yeah, they pretty much need to do what they need to to hang on to their CL berth for next year, but they're not reeling RM in.Really wouldn't be surprised to see RM win the CL this year too.

Yeah, it was rough to lose on those calls. Tells and Cuenca look really solid.

So you're saying that DeGea uses the same expressions that Suarez used? That's a bit different- but still... we can't know the intent- misintrepeted or not- of Suarez in that moment using those same comments. Dunno- maybe it's a situational thing that determines the relative meaning. It may seem otherwise, but I'm a completely non-biased spectator in this, basing my reactions here solely on what I'm seeing and what little I know of these two guys based on their on-field play. Evra jawing at Suarez is meaningless. Suarez saying something that Evra perceived as racist is meaningful. And again- regardless of the intent, if the recipient of those comments feels like they're racist, the person who makes the comments can either act indignant and say that he meant nothing by them, or apologize for any misunderstanding. By all accounts, Suarez took the low road on this, instead of just stepping up and diffusing the situation. But it seems like you've made up your mind that Evra is lying about this, so :shrug:eta: I've played in a ton of pickup games here in NYC, and I've heard "negro-something" comments from spanish speakers to black guys that, in the moment, were completely meaningless- just a way of calling out to a guy who's name they didn't know. THings like "hey china" (to any asian guy) and "hey gringo"... I also used to have guys call me "puto" a lot- that's pretty much the same thing, right? ;) But I've also heard and seen versions of "negro" that were obviously directed with bad intentions, and usually led to fights or viscous retaliatory hacks.

If they do, they're going to have to hope somebody else knocks Barca out- I think it's beyond them to do it.But how did Barca give up 3 goals? When I see them play against top teams, it's almost lucky if the opposition even get a shot off- and those usually on set-pieces.

The first one in the 5th minute was right out of a Barca highlight reel. Perfect backheel (or was a back volley?) through pass into the box. Second one was offsides. 3rd one Barca just made a total mess of clearing the ball. Really pretty ugly display on that one.

Was it a case of Os making the most of limited opportunities, or did the score reflect the play (with an obvious advantage to Barca in possession... and barring the disputed offsides calls)?

So I read that Davies got his first minutes with first team Sochaux since the crash. Came on as a sub in their last game.

I've pretty much given up hope of him getting back to where he was for the USMNT, but dammit- I'd love to be made to eat my words on this.

I just saw Valencia awarded a free kick from inside the 18' box. Didn't know this could happen.
It is rare but it can actually happen any time a indirect free kick infraction occurs in the box, such as* Playing in a dangerous manner (high foot without contact for example)* Goalkeeper touches ball with hands after it has been passed to him by a teammate deliberately. * Goalkeeper handles ball directly from a throwin from a team mate* Player commits an offence punished with a yellow card or red card which is not a penal offence (eg dissent, etc)* Goalkeeper takes more than 6 seconds when controlling the ball with his hands * Goalkeeper touches ball with his hands after it has been released from his possession and noone else has played the ball * Impedes the progress of an opponent

I honestly don't. I think the 2nd half of that CDR tie (2-2 draw at Camp Nou) emboldened them, and they have realized it's very possible now provided they keep playing attacking football. Which I think they will.

Anyone have a link to a stream of the African Cup of Nations final?
There are a bunch here. Just find the one that works best for youhttp://www.firstrowsports.eu/sport/football.html
First row sports never seems to work on the iPad...damn.
I am watching it on the ipad right now.Download the app called Iswifter. It is a browser that allows you to watch flash based streams on the ipad. I only use it for this type of stuff and use either Safari or Atomic Lite for the other 99% of surfing I do.

This works....thanks a lot. Exciting extra time period there, both teams looking tired though.
