It's really hard to tell. I would expect goalline technology next year so. It's loooooong overdue.
Yeah, well, I'd also expect Qatar to not get a World Cup.
The EPL and English FA have been pushing hard and I believe all the testing on systems has been completed. FIFA was always a roadblock, but apparently they have recently dropped their opposition so it does finally look like it will go in next year. I don't know how other leagues will handle it. I imagine they might take a wait and see approach.

Wondo is the second fastest player to ten goals in MLS history. Only Raul Diaz Arce on the loaded DC United team of 1997 made it quicker (by one game).
It's been fun having a competitive MLS local team for the first time in my life, however, I don't think we have the talent to sustain anything close to this pace.

Sagna broke his leg and is obviously out for the Euros.
 Unless it was a play I didn't see, what I DID see had him get carted off after getting hit with the ball. I've had my ankle sprained (when already weak/wrapped from previous sprains) in a similar manner, but never seen a break happen like that.

Leverkusen and Stuttgart are in for Europa, but their entry stage is in the air. Leverkusen is a point ahead and is currently looking at group stage with Stuttgart at playoff stage. They could switch.

Hannover currently are in position to enter Europa at 3rd round qualifying at 45 points. But, Wolfsburg at 44, Bremen and Nürnberg at 42 have chances.

Kaiserslautern have secured straight relegation. Köln is in the relegation playoff position with Hertha Berlin two points back in a straight relegation slot.
Leverkusen and Stuttgart both won, so no changes in their positions.Hannover won so they are in Europe next year.

Berlin won and Köln lost putting Köln straight down and Berlin in the playoff match.

Köln fans upset with the relegation lit flares and actually caused the match to end early. Here are some pictures of the smoke that invaded the pitch at the end. Link from Bild

So....anyone playing this summer?
Our summer season starts sometime in June, and yes we play in the dead of the 90+ temps. I doubt I'll be playing though as I have to get some bone spurs on my feet taken care of later this month.

Yeah, that was really wierd. It looked like the contact from the ball broke his ankle.

Retired :bag:
I am playing in an adult / high school league, but I'm pretty near retirement myself. At 38 and not playing everyday, I can't quite keep up with 98 pound high school kids anymore. :kicksrock:
It's been almost 20 years since my semi-pro days. Holy ####. :kicksrock: , But I used to do the occasional pickup games or small-sided for fun leagues (that always ended in fights). Just ran into a guy I played regular pickup with before the 1st kid was born (5 years+ ago) at the playground- told me the same guys were still playing and invited me to join. I'm thinking I need to do this- for my sake and to lead by example for my almost 5yo son, who has just started playing computer games. Only problem- I am now fat. And old. But I've got to do this.

I'm surprised MLS hasn't tried this out- as a newer, more fringe league, I feel like they've been more open to experimentation with the rules. or maybe they're trying harder to look respectable these days. I'd love to see the US take the forefront on this. Needs to get done. (and I'm ok with local amateur leagues not having this technology... not like there's a lot of money riding on the correct decision being made every call)

Garber says MLS would use goal-line technology

By RONALD BLUM | The Associated Press – Thu, Apr 19, 2012 8:05 PM EDT

NEW YORK (AP) Major League Soccer would implement goal-line technology quickly if it's approved in July by the sport's rules-making body.

''We're interested in being a test league and we hope that we could achieve that,'' MLS Commissioner Don Garber said Thursday while speaking to the Associated Press Sports Editors. ''I would be open to whatever it is that could be done to ensure that we have goal-line technology.''

The International Football Association Board meets July 2 and could approve Sony Corp.'s Hawk-Eye or GoalRef, owned by a German-Danish company. Following a series of erroneous calls in high-profile games ranging from the 2010 World Cup to this year's FA Cup, there could be more support for goal-line technology among tradition-bound soccer officials.

Hawk-Eye is a camera-based ball-tracking system used in tennis and cricket. GoalRef employs a magnetic field with a special ball. Both could be approved.

Each system sends a signal within a second of the ball crossing the line to the referee, who makes the final decision.

If approval is granted in July, Garber said, MLS could implement the technology at some point during this season, which began in March. The Premier League hopes to use it for its 2012-13 season, which starts in August.

''There's a lot more that we need to learn about it, understanding the process,'' Garber said. ''The bottom line here is that I would be open to using goal-line technology as soon as it is made available.''

OK here is the relegation picture after a single minute of play changed the fates of 3 teams.

At the 89th minute Bolton was winning their game and QPR was drawing their game. By the 90th minute those results flipped causing Bolton to go from possible season saver to possible season ender.

Blackburn is now all but relegated. The only way they can stay up is a large confluence of circumstances including Blackburn taking 6 out of 6 points from their last two games, two other teams above them losing their last game AND having to make up a huge GD. IMO they are 99.9999% relegated right now.

Bolton has two different ways to stay up but both types require help. Here is the equation if I have it correct(I am ignoring GD since Bolton is to far behind to worry about that factoring into a tie in points).

Bolton Survival = Bolton win in last game AND (QPR lose last game or Wigan lose both of their last two games).

Wigan and QPR are pretty much set if they secure a point or Bolton does not get 3 points.

MLS Update

1) Both first place teams lost including KC dropping a strange 3 points to Montreal at home

2) Wondo scored yet again. He has to be seriously considered for the summer's group of games at this point. 11 goals in 10 games to start the season

3) LA continues to drop points at an alarming rate as Keane and Buddle continue to have nightmare seasons. It got so bad that in the previous game LA earned a pk, and Landon let Keane take it in hoped of getting him going and he promptly missed it wide. If the season were to end today, last years Cup champions and this years talk of greatest team ever in MLS would not even make the playoffs.

4) Toronto continue their record breaking start to the season, which now stands no wins, no draws, 8 losses

Yaya not only has the coolest name in the Premiership he's also deadly outside the box. City is lucky to have him.

Enjoying the Milan derby. Sneijder almost hit a ridiculous volley in the goal from midfield  Hit the post :kicksrock:
