BeIn Sports is continuing to collect soccer properties. It now has picked up the English League Cup, the English Championship, and the English promotion playoffs to go along with La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, South American WCQiers! And Copa Del Ray. I mentioned this before but it would not shock me one bit if FSC does not exist next year. FSC is even showing UFC now (at least it is on the schedule). Might be the first inkling that FSC will morph into a more generic Fox Sports 1 channel that will show soccer and other items if they lose the EPL.
Any word on who will be carrying it?
Sorry, nothing more than rumors still. They are either holding the announcements until the last second or they are still negotiating like crazy to get on various carriers.
I've spoken to Direct TV and TWC in the last couple of days, nobody had any clue what I was talking about.

yeah don't bother with that for two reasons1) 99% of the Customer Service reps will be clueless2) The other 1% that may know something are likely be told to keep quiet until everything is absolutely signedIt would not surprise me if we hear one day who is officially carrying the station and then it shows up the very next day on that service.I believe the channel itself launches on August 1st with out a single carrier officially signed.

The CCL starts back up this week. RSL plays tonight at 10:00 on FSC. I don't think I have watched FSC all summer.

LA plays Real Madrid on Thursday on ESPN2. LA is likely to not play its regulars much since they have a very big game Sunday night on ESPN2 at Seattle.

Seattle is expecting close to 55,000 for this game and should be a fun one to watch. I think Seattle's new DP may make his debut in that game and it is always interesting to see if Eddie Johnson's run continues.

Hopefully, they'll live stream in lieu of cable outlets
BeIn Sports is planning to launch an internet channel called BeInSports.tvRumors are that it will be a paid monthly service. The number I heard thrown around was $19.99 per month which most feel is ludicrous.

That would be awesome. Just need to find a solution for the CL and I can finally get rid of cable altogether.
Would FoxSoccer2Go work for you?http://www.foxsoccer2go.com/

You would be less inundated with MLS noise for one thing :) I have heard pretty good things about foxsoccer2go but have never tried it myself.

Completely shocked that Bale is perfectly fine after the Adam incident.Shocked I tell you

Initially Bale feared he could miss the start of the season, but the forward made a miraculous recovery to play a key role in Tottenham's win in the Big Apple.

The guy has 16 cards over what is essentially a season and a half. That would be incredibly high for a DM, much less a playmaker/AM. That tackle was awful as was the previous one on Bale that put him out for three months. How anyone can defend these tackles is beyond me. I don't think he's a dirty player, he's just slow as a snail and overly-aggressive. Definitely a bad combination.

Adam is a thug. He was something like 6th in fouls committed last season, but he only made 28 appearances.

Andy- what do you think of the Joseph for Gavin trade? I like both players fine, but I don't really get this one.

Also... looks like Najar should be feeling pretty good about his nationality choice about now.

Just my two cents, but I don't think Gator was defending Adam, but more talking about Bale and his penchant for the dramatic. I may be off base, but that was the way I read it. Now, regarding Adam, I'm a Liverpool fan, and I still wouldn't defend the tackle (or the player). He's pretty awful in most phases of the game. He hacks players down constantly because he is too slow to keep up, and too many of his passes end up in turnovers. Occasionally, he completes a long pass and scores on a free kick, but most of the time he just blows.Really hope the "Fulham looking to take him as part of a Dempsey deal" rumor has some truth to it.

If that happens I'm gone. Bad enough Fulhamerica would be over. But who needs that stooge?QPR! QPR! QPR!

Both Concacaf teams advanced to the quarter finals of the Olympics.

Honduras will get fed to Brazil and Mexico has a tough but winnable game against Senegal in the quarters. Mexico is not on Brazil's side so they have a decent path to the finals.

Brazil looks sick offensively. By themselves they outscored the entire groups of B and D.

Joseph was a salary dump for next season. I think the Revs are paying some of his salary this year to make the trade work. He is no longer the player he was three years ago and has really morphed into a utility guy who is not a consistent starter any more. He is also tremendously overpaid for his current quality. He used to be one of the best players in the league but like all players get, he is well past his prime.I don't begrudge him his salary at all (which is ~550k this year) because he was underpaid for a long time. The Revs simply can't plan for the future when they have a sub making the most on the team.

Ah- thanks. My memory of Joseph discussion in here was you being excited about him and his play (particularly for the Revs). It seems that memory is a bit... old.

And re: Bale and Adams.

I haven't seen a ton of his games, but when I watch Bale I don't see a guy exaggerating or feigning injury, I see a guy who takes a lot of challenges and rides/avoids a lot of challenges- going down in the process. People complain about this, but as the primary target and offensive catalyst, guys like him and CRonaldo/etc are getting kicked all game- I don't begrudge them getting off their feet when a tackle comes in.

Adams... agree with all of you. Slow of foot which gets him into all kinds of problems, but skilled- especially on the shot. And a thug. Strikes me a good lead guy in the MF for a low/mid table team- not a side trying for Europe.

Adam had a nice run as the big fish for Blackpool. I don't know what Dalglish was thinking when he brought him in, but you could say that about a number of his other signings. Adam is a bit of a throwback-type. There's really no role for him in Rodgers' system and there doesn't seem to be a lot of other bidders for his services. At least he'll be well-paid (£2.5M/yr) while he sits on the bench.

RVP to Juve a done deal?
Doesn't seem like it. Supposedly he's considering staying on the news of Sahin and Cazorla coming over.
I should have linked/quoted it the first time...
Agent claims Van Persie deal is doneAugust 2, 2012Email PrintBy ESPN staffAn agent has made the claim that Juventus have already sealed a deal to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
It's some other agent that's not involved. I think he's just speculating.

whoa... that pricetag takes him out of consideration for pretty much anybody. I think he'd do alright at a club like Fulham, playing behind Dembele... I can't imagine Murphy has much left in his tank. But not at that price.

just a bit. He started to lose his effectiveness sometime last year.Using hind-site, if he had been identified earlier in his career, their might have been a chance to naturalize him. He played at St John's University. If he did become an American citizen he would have been a lock for the US Nats starting DM for at least 5 years and would have been a large upgrade over Ricardo Clark.

safe to say Acer and I are following this quite closely as we picked him 3rd in the EPL draft :)As of now everything is just speculation, especially this bizarre report by the agent. I think it is either Juve or Man U, or even a possibility he stays with Arsenal.

I mentioned my son's soccer exploits some time ago but wanted to pick your collective brains again...

To get you back up to speed on him, he's been playing and consistently been one of the better players on his teams at the rec level off and on since he was 4 (he missed a couple years when he was 7 and 8 but has played at least every Fall since then), and with just this school year left before high school, and in an effort to start preparing for that, he has joined a team that plays more competitively than his old rec teams. They're still not the highest level available in the area, but as he's more invested in baseball, this is a better fit.

He has a couple of friends already on the team, and he's pretty sociable, so 'fitting in' with his teammates isn't an issue. Also, thanks to our experience with travel baseball, I think his mother and I are well-prepared to not be 'those' parents who cause issues. Best of all, though, is that one of the assistants has coached him in the past and really likes his game, and the head coach also has a favorable impression of him from seeing him in the past, before he expressed any interest in joining that team, but here's where my 'concerns' are, so any feedback about the following is appreciated.

This isn't a concern per se, but what has me uneasy is the coach's 'approach', which I don't question, but I'm not sure how 'orthodox' it is. It appears the practices are going to be mostly intrasquad scrimmages (2v2, 3v3 for example) and lots of running. He told my son to spending time on his own working with the ball and did not suggest any specific drills or strategies. He said that just spending time kicking the ball around, getting used to what you can do with it at your feet and just kicking it to yourself off a wall will improve one's skills. I'm so used to my son's baseball practices, with entail lots of repitition that I'm not sure how to react to more 'liberal' practice. I fully agree with him that working on your own is very important, I guess I just need to figure out if there's a 'best' way to work out indivdually, or if that really matters much.

My actual concern is that from baseball we've seen that kids/teams that are used to playing on one level many time will get overwhelmed when playing against kids/teams that play on a higher level, and since my son has played only on the rec level, I don't know how much of an adjustment it will be, even though the one coach who has coached him in the past assures me he'll be fine. I don't know exactly how much different it is, but I'm guessing it will at least be 'faster' and no doubt more physical. My son has a feel for the game that should help him with the speed of the game, but any wisdom regarding dealing with more physical play?

Finally, I think that the strength of my son's game, from what his formre coach and my untrained eye have observed, is his ability to see the field, so any tips as far as 'enhancing' this strength would be appreciated as well.

I'll hang up now and listen...

City wants him, but RVP categorically refuses as long as Adebayor's on the roster. Adebayor can't be moved because he has insane wage demands. City's apparently moved on to Higuain.

Gol TV now has the rights to the next three US Open Cup Finals, the first of which will be shown next Wednesday. If Gol TV are still in business for the final 2 Open Cup Finals will be anyone's guess.

MAURICE EDU has told Ally McCoist he wants to quit Rangers before the end of the month. The US international confirmed his intentions in a meeting with his Ibrox boss yesterday. The 26-year-old is still waiting for a firm offer after a move to Spanish side Valencia collapsed, but it is his intention to quit the Light Blues in the current transfer window. The former Toronto midfielder, who has a £300,000 release clause, is aware of interest from Sampdoria and French side Valenciennes.Edu, above, wants to move to safeguard his spot in the US team.McCoist also held talks with Carlos Bocanegra, Kirk Broadfoot and Dorin Goian. All three said they would be happy to stay but couldn’t rule out leaving in the transfer window.Alejandro Bedoya has returned to Ibrox, but he could be on the move soon.He was set for a move to Helsingborgs but that has been put on hold after the Swedish side saw the sale of one of their players fell through

I had totally forgotten about this friendly.

The US plays Mexico on August 15. First friendly in Mexico since 1984.

I have no idea what type of roster to expect for either team. I believe US will release their roster on the 12th.

Will be shown on ESPN2.

The only thing holding up Adebayor is the 5M transfer fee. He wants the fee to offset the wages he would lose and City wants to keep it. If City really wanted RVP that bad and the only thing holding it up was Adebayor I find it hard to believe they would let 5M hold it up.

My predictions for the rest of the transfer period 2012:

1. Van Persie to Juventus.

2. Song to Barcelona.

3. At the end of the day, it will be Lloris that goes to replace Friedel at Tottenham.

4. What remains of Kaka back to ACMilan.

5. Sneijder to Manchester United.....Nani going to Inter.

6. Carroll back to Newcastle.

7. Huntelaar to ACMilan.

8. Ba to Tottenham.

9. Giuseppe Rossi to Napoli.

10. R Miyaichi to Newcastle.

11. Sunderland gets Fletcher.

12. Sturridge to West Ham U.

13. Sakho to Chelsea.

14. Berbatov to QPR.

15. Dempsey to..... 'Pool.

16. Agger to Manchester City.

17. Dzeko to Schalke.

18. The only Brazilian going to Barcelona this year will be Leandro Damiao.

All speculative, but fits IMO.

The list doesn't include what I presume to already be 'done deals' like Adebayor to TOT, Sahin to ARS, LUCAS to Inter, Modric to Real, etc.

Surprised to see no Olympic talk whatsoever. I'm following the Women's Nats. Keep meaning to catch some Men's games, bt keep forgetting. I hear Brasil looks great. Going to try and catch the knockout rounds.
