APOEL Nicosia earned around €15M for making it into the round of 16 last year. There's no way they can make that kind of money in the Cypriot First Division.Overall, the Champions League is a more significant title to win than even the top domestic leagues. But in the group stage, a lot of the biggest clubs are confident they can advance without playing their strongest lineup every game.So right now I'd say league games are the priority. But once we get to the knockout stages, it's on.What's bigger for these club teams?Their respective league games or the UEFA championship games?![]()
True. For the small leagues it's different. UEFA money can be life-changing for them.APOEL Nicosia earned around €15M for making it into the round of 16 last year. I posted some info on the Adidas system a while back (I think during the MLS All Star game). I am not familiar though with the technology even though I find it fascinating.Anyone familiar with the Adidas micoach system (especially from a technology standpoint)? How about Nike+?
Yeah, I agree. Look at Parkhurst's team Nordsjælland. They may arguably be the smallest club ever in the group stage. Their stadium only has 9800 seats with some standing room to get them a bit over 10k. Any money they make from the Champions League has to be huge for that side.True. I wonder if it's a personal thing between him and JK...it doesn't add up.Too bad he's not good enough to consistently start for the United States.Jozy Altidore with a hat trick today in AZ's 4-0 win. 7 goals in his opening 4 games this season.![]()
Read some of the other posts about this - i think it makes a lot of sense. In a nutshell, the US does not play a style (nor does it have the players) that suits Altidore the way his club team does. His play at AZ demonstrates a level of creativity and trust with the players who play off of him. A lot of give-and-go and passes/runs into space. I don't think the US has the same level of imaginationI wonder if it's a personal thing between him and JK...it doesn't add up.Too bad he's not good enough to consistently start for the United States.Jozy Altidore with a hat trick today in AZ's 4-0 win. 7 goals in his opening 4 games this season.![]()
I really disagree with this. That's exactly what Dempsey and Donovan do bring to the table IMO. Quick movement, good interplay and quick reading of the space. In fact Dempsey and Altidore combined for exactly this sort of goal vs Italy (I think it was Italy).I'd love to see us try a 4-3-2-1 with JKs favored trio of holding/def mids behind Dempsey and Donovan playing off Altidore.Read some of the other posts about this - i think it makes a lot of sense. Disagree, obviously, based on my previous post that layed out what Sinn is saying.Have you watched AZ play, Wd? Yes, LD and Dempsey are capable of the movement and passing that the AZ MFs provide, but not as frequently and certainly not with the same ability to spring Jozy- based on what I've seen of AZ (3 full games this season, where I'm just watching Jozy's play more than anything else) and the US.I really disagree with this. Seems as good a time as ever to play Milan- they're struggling a bit in league play. Two Americans with UCL games today, both away. Jones will try on some Greek yellow cards today when Schalke visits Olympiakos and Sacha has a tough game at AC Milan with Anderlecht.Shame that every game is on at the same time.
I am going to check in on this game. Anderlecht has never won a game in Italy in 15 tries.Seems as good a time as ever to play Milan- they're struggling a bit in league play. Two Americans with UCL games today, both away. They could really use a true CAM out there. Ronaldo and DiMaria are making some nice runs but none of the central midfielders seem to be getting forward that often.Essien at the central attacking midfielder role over Modric and Ozil.
He is the worst player on the team by a long shot. That was terrible. Looks like my son's soccer teamGood job Kolarov![]()
