Oof. What a break for LA. Utterly dominated all game, Seattle having pulled 2 of the 3 back and LA gets a pk out of no where. Keane buries it and LA back up by 2 on aggregate.

Great game.

How did they get a PK? Nobody here knows.
Handball. Was clear on the replay. A bit harsh but probably the right call by the book.
Gut-wrenching, but yeah- the right call. That Seattle defender had no business waving both arms around on the cross... foolish, sloppy play on his part (and cunning on Keane). So even with the off-sides mistake, LA still should have advanced 4-3 on aggregate. Although- if Seattle scores that gimme at the end of the game... another story. As well as LA played the first go around, Seattle looked that good tonight. Looking forward to a healthy Zakuani next year- he made all the difference for Seattle spreading the field wide and long. And EJ looked pretty damn good too, particularly in the first half. And I know Andy's been a big supporter, but I've also always liked the way Alonso plays- hope he can jump ship and get naturalized here. Oh... wtf isn't Keane carded on that goofily late challenge in LA's defensive third late in the game? That was the one ref flub, IMO (along with not carding Keane later when he dragged a defender down intentionally after the ref saying "no more" on the call I'm talking about)I hope Rud had fun- looked like an unbelievable atomosphere and definitely a lot of excitement on the field. Other than the biblical downpour (oh, right- typical Seattle evening) and a Seattle win, can't ask for much more out of some woefully underpriced playoff tickets.

I think like RSL, we could see Seattle having to retool next season. Both teams are going to lose critical allocation money (RSL will be affected by this more than Seattle) since both are out of the 2013/2014 CCL. I agree Floppo, felt great even as a neutral, to see Zakuani running at players again. Hopefully this gives him some confidence in the offseason to realize how close he is to having most of his speed back. The 4 American MLS CCL teams will be KC, Houston, LA, and SJ for 2013/2014 CCL

Too bad Seattle couldn't win the Open Cup. Theyd pose problems to foreign teams- more than SJ or KC imo.
At least they are still in the current CCL. They have a quarter final two legged match against Tigres in March.
 I already forgot this was still going. The massive media coverage doesn't help.
the scheduling makes it tough to really pay attention. The break between group stage and quarters is very long and occurs in MLS offseason. No one will pay attention until March and who knows what the MLS teams will look like at that time as they reconfigure in the offseason.

it was awesome, but the ref really sucked. There were a lot of bad calls. One that really stood out came off a great shot from Seattle that the keeper made a save on and deflected the ball just wide of the net. Then they gave LA a goal kick. Great atmosphere. Most people there stood for the entire game. It was loud and a lot of fun. Despite lots of rain and a big storm warning and the team trailing 0-3 in goals, they still drew a pretty full house and everybody was very into it.

Appears that Liverpool will be fire sailing Downing in January. Our long international nightmare is almost over.
 :thumbup:Hoping there's a Carroll/Ba swap, as well.
Isn't there a rumored Sterling / Walcott swap also?
Wenger, who is set to lose Walcott anyway, wants Sterling in return. He's not going to get him.
"You say ze zteady to me vone more time and zhou vill be on ze first trip home!"

:goodposting:

Suarez, Sterling and Walcott in a very fluid front three would be massive tight pants time

 very cool to hear about and glad you had fun. Id love to have a team worth cheering for.Fwiw- the ref-loathing was pretty homer-goggled. From a neutral watching on tv, aside from the botched offsides I thought the ref team did a decent enough job.

Becks officially announced that MLS Cup will be his last game with the Galaxy.

Which conveniently opens up a spot for Lampard now.

Becks seems to want to play some more so who knows where he will land next. He does intend to come back to MLS eventually as part of an ownership group.

Hope he goes somewhere legit (e.g. not the Australian league). It'd be interesting to see how he'd play back in Europe.

Ives guessed at the following from most to least likelyEngland-Australia-Scotland-China-RBNYI don't know if it is related but just yesterday Snoop Lion (new name for Snoop Dog), said he is thinking of investing in Celtic and if he does he wants to sign Becks for one year.

Austin Berry, central defender for the Chicago Fire has won the MLS rookie of the year award.

History shows that the other central defenders who were rookie of the years turned into decent players.

Before Berry, 3 central defenders have been named rookie of the years. Boca, Parkhurst, and Gonzo.

Huge game for the Champions of Europe today in Turin. A loss for Chelsea means they are very likely going to be the first ever holders to fail to advance to the knockouts. A win or a draw leaves them in decent shape to advance. Juve really need the full 3 points at home today. I'm very interested to see RDM'S lineup today. Would not be surprised to see Sturridge in for Torres to start.

The only thing worse than a celebrity owner buying your club as a vanity project is for him to bring in aging stars with perceived marquee value. I'm sure Celtic fans are thrilled.

With Lille's victory over BATE a draw between Bayern and Valencia sees both to the next round. If either teams wins then they advance.

Chelsea almost conceded a goal three minutes into the game. If Chelsea loses today, theyre out.
Nordsjæßɇɷʡ☺nd might have something to say about that.
Looks like they are giving them a good game. Nord is up 2-1 in second half. Even a draw here keeps Chelsea alive.
Wow - totally missed this!
2-2 now at half time (I had a typo above, I meant first half, not second).

Shakhtar just tied it back up.That looks like an awesome game. There's been 3 goals in the space of a few minutes.
