Very good chance I am going to the USA-Germany Friendly in DC. Happen to be there at the same time. :pickle: Anyone else going? Z?
There was talk amongst my soccer crew that we get together for this game, but the twins situation put the kibosh on that. So, unfortunately, I can't make that one. I'm hoping to catch a qualifier at some point, but that hope is fading...

There are reports that Higuain is moving to Juve.

Also, that Real Madrid is trying to buy Isco from Malaga. Man City wants him too and is in negotiations. Something like 35m euro transfer fee.

Isco makes no sense for City. He's basically the exact same player as Silva, right?

What are people's thoughts on CR7 jumping ship? He doesn't seem very happy in Madrid. Is there anyone in the Prem that could afford him?
I thought he was unhappy with Mourinho. His contract is almost up so he isnt going to be priced astronomically if he wants to leave. Chelsea, City, or United could all afford him.

City and Chelsea are the only ones that can get Ronaldo imo and he's not going to City. No way United pay out 50-60ish million and 300k/week in wages I don't think.

Rooney and Ronaldo to PSG!

And Monaco already spending big, Porto's Moutinho and Rodriguez to the French team it appears.

Speaking of City and Chelsea..........GAME TONIGHT!!!

Got to go to the practice session yesterday which was pretty awesome.

Walking into the stadium

View from my seats tonight

Players practicing

More practice

Since we got to watch them practice and picked up some stuff, officially Chelsea fans from here on out!

I think City wants to buy players so that no one else can have them.
Or their new manager has his favorites and plans for other players to be shown the door, e.g. Nasri.

Pulis out at Stoke
Did they Pulis out soon enough?
We shouldn't be happy about this. Pulis brought in Cameron, Shea, and Edu. ETA: Weird. They made me delete the smileys to post.
Pulis favored horrible football. That wasn't going to be a good club for them to develop at. Now they've got a chance to take a step forward if, for example, Roberto Martinez goes there.
I think Martinez will end up at Everton.

Have fun - hopefully you will see some entertaining football. Chelsea brought a surprisingly strong team, but I do not expect Hazard or Mata (their two best players) to play. I imagine Frankie will get a run, and Yossi and Paulo will likely be given a final bow in Blue, but these guys really have to be knackered. Youngsters to watch are the Ruud Gullit lookalike Nathan Ake, andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Probably. I just was using him as an example a new manager who would greatly upgrade the team's tactics.

They're already set to join NASL this fall.
Yeah, but I thought their intent was to join MLS in the future, no?
IIRC, they're not interested in joining as long as the single-entity structure and salary cap are in place. I think they were hoping that if they could build up enough of a following in NASL, they could eventually force MLS to change the rules to accommodate them. Looks like they might have gambled and lost on that one.
Cosmos balked at the $100mm MLS franchise fee and offered $40mm. MLS found a group willing to pay it.

Curious how this will play out, as the Cosmos have a proposal in place for a privately funded $400mm soccer stadium right on the border of Long Island/Queens. The thought is they will host a lot of international friendlies in addition to the Cosmos regular NASL schedule. The questions that now arise are:

1) can this area support not 1, not 2, but 3 pro soccer franchises?

2) does the Cosmos ownership really believe that they will ever be able to turn a profit after sinking that much money into a stadium for a 2nd division team?

3) how confident are they that they will be able to host high end friendlies with the allure of an MLS stadium in Queens likely just a few miles away?

Not a big soccer guy, but I know some people involved in this process so I'm curious of everyone's take on this.

Anyone have a good source for cheep jerseys? Looking to get a few for my kids
I am City and Celtic supporter so what I do is go to the official websites this time of year and buy last seasons jerseys for the kids. After the season they can be discounted 50% or more. Just have to get lucky with sizes available.

You guys don't have fox deportes? Same time as the epl exhibition the Tijuana Xolos took a 2-0 lead on Atletico Miniero only to get a heart broken in the 90th on a Miniero equalizier. It would be crazy to see the Xolos advance to the semis, but giving up 2 away gols in a draw puts them behind the 8 ball heading to Brasil next week. Xolos just scratched and clawed their way into the MX 1st division a year ago.

Dortmund adds Sokratis to the back line for about 9.5 m euros. It seems that Santana is on his way out. Of course, this offseason depends on who they add up top (assuming all they lose are Gotze and Lewandowski).

I wouldn't mind Higuain to Juventus if they can close the deal with RM. They are goal scorers away from more significant CL success.

If I was an oligarch or a sheikh, I think AS Monaco would probably be my club. The EPL is too crowded, Germany is not sexy enough, Italy is full of corruption and racism and Spain seems rigged against all but two. I would consider Porto or maybe something like Anderlecht. If Ajax were available, it might be my first choice. Monaco has so much going for it though.

Don't they have the same average attendence as an August Marlins game?

Twitter is going off on Neymar. Rumor has it Santos received a 35mil offer from Real and a $28mil from Barca. Friendlies with Santos also part of the deal. Neymar will be allowed to choose, allegedly.
