What a day and what a match. I agree that Dante should have been sent off, and I'm not sure what the ref was thinking.

Naturally I'm thrilled with the victory and look forward to next weekend when Bayern goes for the treble.

I was disappointed by the lack of Interest in the match. Last year I met up with a group of friends at Buffalo Wild Wings and you could not move in the place. This year I decided to go early, grab lunch and get a prime table in the bar. Besides myself and my group (6 total) there were 2 other people watching the match.

Congrats to Bayern and condolences to BVB - what an awesome display of German power football yesterday.

A bit of luck of course re: Dante and Ribery staying on the field, but overall no doubt this result was deserved. After dispatching the Italian and Spanish champions by a combined 11-0, and most likely winning an historic treble next week, one has to wonder how Pep feels these days. That is a pretty tough act to follow.

p.s. - for all the complaints I'm seeing about Ribery, I thought Lewadowski's ankle stomp on Boateng was by far the worst thing I saw from a player yesterday. I wonder if it could affect his future, which seems to point to Bayern. Great player for sure, but that seems to be an attempt to injure, and I think went a good bit further than normal competitive aggressiveness even for a big game like this one was.

 
An all Bundesliga final = far fewer people interested. An all Italian final would be similar. Depending on demographics (latinos) the same could be said for an all la liga final that wasn't a Clásico.

Hell my interest was pretty low for this one too.

AC Milan, Chelsea, Everton and Valencia join Guinness International Champions Cup

The Guinness International Champions Cup announced the final four teams which will take part in the U.S.-based summer tournament. AC Milan, Chelsea, Everton and Valencia join the previously-announced Inter, LA Galaxy, Juventus and Real Madrid.

The tournament begins on July 27 and will take place in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Indianapolis and New York. All eight teams will play in Miami's Sun Life Stadium, which will host a pair of double-headers in August.

Chelsea, which played a pair of friendlies with Manchester City in the United States this week, was the 2012 MLS All-Star opponent. The Blues are the reigning Europa League champions. Since 2005, they have won three league titles, four FA Cups and both the Champions League and Europa League.

Everton finished sixth in the Premier League before losing manager David Moyes to Manchester United. American Tim Howard tends goal for the Toffees, as he did when Everton took on the MLS All-Stars in 2009.

Valencia employs Mexican winger Andres Guardado. It ended fifth in the Spanish Liga and last won the title in 2004.

Milan sealed a Champions League berth on the last day of the season, clinching third in Italy. The Rossoneri, which won the last of their 18 Serie A titles in 2011, has conquered Europe seven times.

I didn't think it was so bad. His foot ended up on top of the calf and he followed his step through. He didn't have it in the air and stomp down.

I don't remember it being a stomp. He stood on his ankle. But it wasn't like Ribery throwing an elbow and Dante kicking.

Basically. And IRRC Boateng raised his other leg to impede and there is doubt that Lewandowski was even attempting to step on his leg.

Lewandowski knew what he was doing, but made it somewhat subtle, certainly in real time without the benefit of expecting it and rewatching it in slo mo replay. (I say this as a casual fan of BVB who was rooting for them yesterday, BTW.)

Ribery was a ####, but I don't think what he did warranted a sending off - both players were grappling and grabbing.

Dante should have gotten a second yellow, no question. That was a game changing non-call, which I can only attribute to the ref "not wanting to decide the match" but who may well have given his failure to act there.

If it had stopped at the half, sure. But I really don't remember Neuer doing much in the second half. Robben just kept coming all game long and finally got his reward. It wouldn't take much to convince me that the true MotM was Weidenfeller.
 
I don't think Dante's foul was really that serious. A foul certainly, but really no malicious intent. He went after a ball awkwardly and left his foot up high - but if I recall the play, the Dortmund player ran into the leg as much as anything. High kick, but it wasn't cleats into the chest.

 
IMO, Dante's PK foul was yellow worthy... foot up high, late, nowhere near the ball. Don't think it was malicious or intended, but still a yellow. and without the PK there's no doubt in my mind that the ref pulls the card out.

So... does Muller bother anybody else? He's a guy that I"ve seen play a bunch through the CL and Germany over the last few years, and every time I seem him he does this particularly German brand of diving/embellishing/whining that makes me want to punch him in the nads. Yeah, Ribery's a punk and guys like Marcello and Pique make me ill- Muller's a different level, but still a high level of douchebaggery. And what makes it worse (for all of them really) is that he's good enough to not have to resort to that crap. At least he's not a hacking diving/embellishing/whiner... those are the absolute worst.

I don't think Dante's foul rose to the level of a cautionable offense. The closest is unsporting behavior, but in the play at question he simply made an awkward attempt to play the ball. He did not act recklessly, nor did he act in a manner likely to cause injury. He left his leg up, and it impeded the Dortmund player - he did not attempt to impede the player (which has no bearing on the foul and penalty, but does impact whether it was a cautionable offense imo).

I don't think Dante's foul rose to the level of a cautionable offense. The closest is unsporting behavior, but in the play at question he simply made an awkward attempt to play the ball. He did not act recklessly, nor did he act in a manner likely to cause injury. He left his leg up, and it impeded the Dortmund player - he did not attempt to impede the player (which has no bearing on the foul and penalty, but does impact whether it was a cautionable offense imo).

It sounds like three factors: 1 year left on his contract; complexities of joint ownership (which I've always found to be a bizarre concept; and under-the-table payments.
