All that fun footy on the telly last night... and I watched a USLPRO game on Youtube :oldunsure:

P.S. it was a bit of a barnburner though (and my 2 year old son was cheering for the wrong team - :lmao: )

I only watched the first half of the Man U, and I understand that things are likely to be different when opponents have scouted and game planned for them, but I thought it was an extremely impressive performance. The ball moved quickly form side to side. For all the talk that United has always used "every inch of the field" this was as effective as I've seen them use diagonal balls to bypass the midfield.

The team just looked set up to use players at their strengths and to not fit square pegs into round holes. Rooney appeared to be having a ball with the freedom to move around like Robben. Herrera was a monster. Constantly pressing and winning the ball and then making the safe, clean pass. Vidal would be nice, but I think another set of midfield legs like Herrera who would come a bit cheaper would probably be fine. The system just needs energy alongside Mata to give him the freedom to drift into pockets of space. Valencia could be a monster as a wing back (Shaw, perhaps because he's young and a more natural full back actually didn't use the space he was given as effectively).

Looks like one of the great stories in US Soccer history is coming to an end. Because of constant injuries Jay Demerit is expected to announce his retirement.

Not sure we will ever see what he accomplished happen again, at least for a long time.

Ive never seen Frank Lampard look so dapper

Once he discovers cronuts, he'll be Fat Frank again in no time.
Not even Frank will be able to get one of those ####ers... unless he pays me to wait on line for him. And only 2 per customer, one of which will be my payment.

Wait a sec... he's going to need an architect for his new New York digs- how do I make this happen?

(eta- aside from the cronuts, of course)

Freddy looking to play in Serbia?
somebody posted that... I thought here? for a team that's playing Europa Cup.
Yeah, I posted it. Jagodina or something like that. They were 3rd in the Serbian league. I've only seen it on Goal.com, but it was Yves, who's reliable. It was reported as a done deal.
I think the formal signing will happen this weekend.

Time to break out the #1FanOfFKJagodina ?

People wait in line for those things? Why don't they just go through the Jack in the Box drive thru?
People PAID people to wait on line for these things.

And they're still impossible to get: only available in one bakery in SoHo- only makes a limited batch each day- first come first served, but a limit of 2 per customer. I have never been able to get one.

I'm going to Iron Chef Morimoto's restaurant on Saturday, and I'm not sure if I'm even THAT excited about that meal.

In n Out more like
Jack inn the Box actually sells them though. I haven't tried them or the uber rare SoHo ones, but I hear they're pretty damn good. I'm sure they are a step down from the original, but how much different can they be? It's just fried croissant dough, right?

Tell you what, guys. I'll go get some later today. For science.

Crumbs did their own ripoff too (didn't save them anymore than their crappy cupcakes did). Seems that its not enough to be a "cronut." It has to be the original. Kind of like how DC has 40 cupcake bakeries, but people will wait in line for Georgetown Cupcakes because they have a stupid reality show.

But I digress. Err, I like soccer!!!

####### yum.

IIRC, he has more than one?

One of the better meals I've eaten in the last 10 years- NYE at his restaurant here... with him roaming around the dining room, sitting down with every diner and sending little tastings of this that or the other. Soooo good.

I'm shocked that the NYC media isn't raging with the Heathrow 9/11 story yet. Won't take long I'm sure.
The stories are out there already reminding people.

I think most people won't give a #### what somebody did on a drinking binge when they were 23. It was stupid but New Yorkers tend to accept guys who were #######s now that they're our #######s.

He's a pretty bright guy. He'll probably make a statement of contrition and everyone will move on.

I had only vaguely heard of the stories, so it actually surprised me to read them.

They all mention how the Chelsea players mocked US tourists after 9/11, which I guess had always made me assume that they were making fun of 9/11 or mentioning 9/11. That apparently didn't happen. They just acted like drunken idiots around a bunch of Americans who were stranded because of 9/11. Maybe a certain dignity would have been nice, but it doesn't seem anything worth holding a grudge about over a decade later.

Yeah, it's his one in Chicago. Heading out tomorrow. My weekend:

Friday night - Jurassic 5 concert with VIP Meet & Greet

Saturday night - 7 course Chef's Choice dinner at Morimoto's

Sunday night - LFC and Olympiakos at Soldier Field

To say that I'm stoked would be a bit of an understatement.

I guess I'll have to burn my chelsea badge finally.

I hope it's as good as what I've heard the Yo Gabba Gabba meet and greet was like.

One can only hope, although I hear that Foofa is a little bit of a lush backstage.

I think this is accurate - its much ado about nothing, but the media have had fun spinning and re-hashing it over the years. At some point I think Frank puked, or took his pants off, or both.
