Steven Gerrard

A natural leader and inspiration to all around you, you lead by example and never take a backward step

:bowtie:
So you've been out beating up innocent bystanders at nightclubs again?
No, he slipped on the way there.

Morgan Schneiderlin just tweeted something along the lines of "6 years of hard work destroyed in an hour #saintsfc"

Not a direct quote, I don't have it in front of me.

It would be in front of you, if you looked about 21 posts back :threadpolice:
I have given up on following the thread closely. WE DISCUSSED THIS AWHILE AGO, MAYBE YOU FORGOT.

I skipped page 1528 entirely. :hifive:

Conspiracy theory ------> Cavani will end up in Manchester but not at Man U. He will get signed by City. Will play alongside Aguero. Negredo is injured and they havent spent any money this cycle. Theyre also in the Champions League which Man Utd is not.

City can really only make one signing under the FFP, right? Right now, that's slated to be Mangala.

one signing? Had not heard that - they have some financial restrictions - but had not heard a limit on number of signings.

I just checked again. It's not a cap on players, but it is cap on net spending of 49 million pounds. I don't know if bringing in Fernando has already counted against that or not. But there's no way they could afford Mangala and Cavani without selling (probably Nastatic and Milner, at least).

They have a bunch of people they can offload if needed.

Krueger saying that "every penny" of the $165 million is available for Koeman for re-investment in this window.

"Hey, here's $165 million. You have one month to spend it. Good luck." It's like the plot to Brewster's Millions.

Heres the full article below. On the one hand I cant blame him for selling off guys like Shaw and Lallana who are fetching crazy money. For a team that likes to build through the academy this is part of their strategy. But I still dont see why they sold Lambert when the return is so small compared to what he means to the team. Did they sell him at his own request? Doesnt make sense.

Anyway, with all the money theyve compiled, it will be interesting to see who they bring in.

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has told talkSPORT that “every penny” of the funds from the club’s mass exodus will be available to new manager Ronald Koeman to rebuild his team before the transfer window shuts.

The Saints have pocketed close to £100million from player exits this summer, with a total of five first-team stars leaving St Mary’s.

The largest sum came from Manchester United, who paid a reported £31.5million for England starlet Luke Shaw, while captain Adam Lallana [£26million], defender Dejan Lovren [£20million] and striker Rickie Lambert [£4million] moved to Liverpool and Calum Chambers went to Arsenal for around £16million.

The St Mary’s faithful have understandably raised questions over the club’s future aspirations having overseen the departures of their greatest talents.

But Krueger, who replaced popular former chairman Nicola Cortese in the hotseat back in March, insists the decisions were made in the long-term interest of the team, adding that he expects to announce new signings within the coming days.

“Ronald Koeman wants to build something here at Southampton,” the chairman told Drivetime.

“Our summer activity is definitely not a fire sale, every penny of that will be up for reinvestment as transfer fees and wages.

“It is there right now as we speak for Ronald and [club executive director] Les Reed to put into play in the transfer market.

“We need to have a dressing room filled with players who want to be at Southampton, who understand the way we’re moving forward, how we’re building towards European football and how we can get there in a healthy way.

“We went into this transfer window without any players for sale, but situations have evolved since then and some wanted shortcuts to the Champions League.

“We had a strategy in place before the transfer window opened that if we could make a deal on our terms and we could get the premium price for a player, we would make the deal. That is what has happened with all the transfers to date this summer.

“Right now we felt selling the players at the prices were offered gives the club an opportunity to continue building a team that will be competitive for many years to come, and not just in the short-term.

“The passion our fans have for the club is tremendous, we have so much respect for them and I apologise to those who have been left frustrated with the little bit of silence from us of late, but it was necessary for us to drive the best deals home.

“And while we will try to be as transparent as possible as we move forward, I can’t fix the dates [of any future transfers] that would be wrong.

“But I am extremely optimistic we will have some targets at the club within the next few days.

I heard the Krueger interview and thought he came off like a politician. I can see why Saints fans aren't thrilled by a couple of foreigners (Krueger and Liebherr) controlling the destiny of their club. Neither has any history with the area or the sport. The most impressive thing on Krueger's resume is one losing strike-shortened season behind the bench for the Edmonton Oilers.

Looked like a Hunger Games casting call with the pitch invasion at the end of the Roma RM game. Not sure what they showed on TV here but a foreign channel caught all the foolishness :)

I blame Balotelli

Seriously though, this practice needs to be discouraged, harshly if necessary. Too many crazy people in the world, and involved with global football, to let this trend continue.

Monica Seles agrees

This wouldn't happen twice if Wimbledon legend Vinny Jones were on the pitch.

Told my kid that all it takes is one solid, arm to neck clothesline and the rest of the invaders will calmly walk back their seats
